Michelle walked into the dingy hotel's lobby and went to stand beside Ann at the check in desk. She rang the bell and soon a short, gruff man in a red employee's suit came from the back. His nametag, stamped wth the word "Dave" on it, glinted dully in the flickering lobby lights. She got out her wallet, placed a $50 bill on the desk, and said,"A room for two. Please." He turned to a wall of keys and took a ring off the wall. "Room One-Seventeen."he said, in a raspy voice like sandpaper. Michelle accepted the keys from him, mumbled a thanks, and turned to the wooden staircase that lead up to Floor 1. She walked down the hall untill she found number 17, opened the door, and set the purple gym bag she was carrying down on the first bed. She looked around and muttered under her breath about the quality of today's hotels.
