after an exhausting day of creating a new potion that almost accidentally blew up all of corona, varian couldn't wait to collapse into his bed and doze off. he'd managed to get himself yelled at by everyone in the kingdom: king, queen, princess, and most of all, his own father. varian hated upsetting the guy and always did everything in his power to make his father proud of him. today just hadn't been a good day. with a hearty sigh, varian gazed at his pet raccoon, ruddiger, who sat upon his twin-sized bed and gazed up at him with large, sympathetic eyes. varian smiled at the little guy before removing his gloves and giving his pet a little pat on the head. "tomorrow will be better, right buddy?" varian exclaimed hopefully. but from the rolling of ruddiger's eyes, varian couldn't help but doubt himself. with a heavy heart, he collapsed onto the bed beside his pet and closed his eyes, ruddiger snuggled up tightly in his arms.

varian could tell just by the discomfort of the bed that he wasn't where he was supposed to be. the boy immediately sat upright, his eyes darting back and forth frantically. as his eyes began adjusting to the dim-lit room, he couldn't help but gasp in shock. this wasn't his house at all. it seemed to be some sort of rundown building, varian guessed, considering the cracked walls, shattered windows, and moldy furniture. the boy gulped slighty. had he been kidnapped? but by who? luckily for him, a familiar body grappled onto his arm, trembling slightly. ruddiger! varian wrapped the raccoon tightly in his arms, his breath beginning to pick up speed. what would anyone want with him and his raccoon? had he done something wrong? was this because he almost blew up corona? but before he could ask any questions aloud, the boy noticed a hand-written letter placed on a moldy night-stand beside the bed. varian cast a hesitant look at ruddiger before reaching a shaky arm out and grabbing onto the letter. as he drew it back to his face and began reading, his eyes seemingly widened with every word. whoever this "x" guy was must've known of his skills with alchemy and wanted him to create something to restore his home. varian wouldn't mind it, but he needed answers first.

he stuffed the note into his pocket before carefully placing his feet on the ground. even though he'd gone to sleep in his pajamas he'd somehow managed to wake up in his normal outfit. it confused him, but it was the least of his worries. the floor creaked loudly beneath him, causing the boy to wince slightly before fully rising to his feet. he grabbed ruddiger and let the raccoon latch onto his shoulders as he normally would. he was glad to have his little companion with him: it made the boy slightly less terrified. but he needed to find out who this "x" guy was and what the note was even talking about. varian crept towards a shattered window, carefully avoiding the glass scattered about the floor. when he reached the window he peeked out, and he could feel his heart drop heavily inside his chest. this wasn't corona at all! all around him trees were bare, trash lay scattered about, and buildings lay in shambles. varian gulped in pure fear, his heart thundering against his ribcage. he could hear ruddiger gasp in alarm alongside him. he needed to get out of here!

there wasn't a door in sight, leading varian to haul himself out of the window. he winced in pain as a shard of glass sliced his arm, but he ignored it as he tumbled onto the dirt below. the boy stood up and brushed off his pants, breath heavy. ruddiger rubbed his head against varian's cheek, causing the boy to smile just a bit. he lifted an arm up to his shoulders and patted him on the head. "it's okay buddy, we're gonna get out of here." he did have potions in his apron, but he figured none of them would be helpful for getting him back home. sighing, varian gazed around at his unfamiliar soundings. a feeling of uneasiness fluttered in his stomach, and his heart began picking up speed once again. he needed to get back to corona as soon as possible. perhaps he could find someone he knew here? or maybe anyone at all?

      natsuki oshiro
female | persona 3 oc | feeling; wary | tags; open

natsuki's body felt heavy as she slipped into bed, having finished another full moon operation. it was a tough battle, with some cuts and bruises here and there, but nonetheless, everyone made it out alright. natsuki herself made it out with just a bruise on her forehead, which gave her a slight headache as she lay on her bed, moonlight pouring into her room through a small window. letting out a sigh, she rolled on her side, spotting the evoker that lay on her nightstand. for a moment, natsuki wondered just how long she and the rest of SEES would have to continue with the full moon operations. the fighting seemed to go on forever, with the shadows being just as endless. she also wondered that of all people, why she had the "potential" and was practically thrown into fighting the shadows. but natsuki sighed again, realizing that overthinking wouldn't help her rest from the battle. she slowly closed her eyes, and gradually, the room became enveloped in darkness.
the second natsuki squirmed, she knew that this wasn't her bed. she flinched as she opened her eyes, and from her good eye, a ray of light shone right into it. natsuki winced as she slowly rose up, only for her hand to brush against something metal. she looked down, and her evoker and nunchucks lay next to her hand. finding herself in a dilapidated room with a single, broken window. growing suspicious, natsuki glanced all around, only to notice what looked like a note stuck on one of the glass fragments from the window.
reading the note, all natsuki could feel was utter suspicion. saving this dying world, this "x" person bringing her to it, it all sounded incredibly far fetched. in a way, it reminded her of being chosen to join SEES, all because she had the "potential", but now, it was to save a practically destroyed world. natsuki didn't understand why she of all people was chosen. she wasn't anyone exceptional, except for having a hair-trigger temper and a persona at her side. but like the night before, she knew that overthinking wasn't going to help. and at the very least, she was able to defend herself with persephone and her nunchucks.
glancing out the window, natsuki grabbed her evoker and nunchucks and hopped outside, finding herself in a dusty street. the pavement below her had cracks resembling fault lines and rusted cars lined the sidewalks. whatever was here before, it had surely torn this street apart. if natsuki had to guess, it must have been those "monsters" that x described. but whatever had destroyed the street, natsuki would be prepared for it. keeping her one good eye open, natsuki carefully started to walk, her nunchucks hanging at her side and clutching her evoker in hand.

Chūya Nakahara

male l 22 l Bungo Stray Dogs l ability-For The Tainted Sorrow l tagged-Natsuki

This was frustrating to put things mildly. The copper haired young man had left the condemned building where he had woken up a little while ago to search for a way out of the ruined city. Yet so far he had yet to reach the exit of this forsaken place. From the map he'd woken up next to it looked like there were other places in...wherever he was now because it sure wasn't Yokohama City, Japan. Actually, according to X's letter, Chūya wasn't even in Japan anymore but a whole new world. Had he been anybody else the Gifted wouldn't have believed such an insane claim and possibly thought this a dream. But this was Chūya after all. So needless to say the young man believed this mysterious X guy all right, though reluctantly. Not that any of that mattered though. All that mattered now was the fact that the hat-wearing man had to, somehow, get back to Yokohama and the Port Mafia as soon as was possible. No matter what it took to get home nothing was going to stop him....even these so-called monsters he had been warned about in the letter. The Executive decided he would start with this "Atril" place that looked to be just due south of the forsaken city he was in now. It seemed like it was close enough and a decent location to start searching for a way home at.

"I don't know who you are X, but when I get my hands on you I'm kicking your sorry-" The Executive stopped letting his threat die in his throat. For in the distance ahead the young man spotted a female-looking form with a head of blonde hair. No.....it couldn't be....and yet.... Was he really not the only person taken from the city to this strange ruined world then? No. This person a ways off in front of him wasn't Akutagawa's partner. Aside from knowing the women, he could hardly call himself a member of the mafia's upper echelon if he was actually stupid enough to fall for such a amature mistake. Dazai would never let him live it down if the idiot got word of it. No thank you.

Broken shards of glass littered the streets and she was momentarily unnerved before she continued her brisk walk. The map X gave her wasn't too descriptive. There were large regions with names and whatnot, but there wasn't a key at all. How do people understand where they were going from this? If she was back on her planet and someone tried to call this a 'map', they'd get kicked out. Hat Kid closed her eyes as she walked, circling her small hand over the map before it shot down to point at one of the regions.

    Fesmain it was.

It was Northwest. Or was it Northeast? It could be South, depending on where she was facing... She became flustered for a moment, brain scouring for the proper answer, before giving up and just walking in what she thought was the right direction. She was never good at reading compasses; it was only pure skill and luck she managed to earn a permit to own a spaceship from her home planet. Hat Kid rolled up the map and stored it away as well, figuring it could be useful later on. She'd keep it to write notes when she eventually visited them all, she supposed. Humming quietly to herself, she continued her way, taking off her cape and tying it around her waist when the sun beamed down at her a bit too aggressively.

It wasn't a long walk through the deserted and gloomy town for her to get a bad feeling. Hat Kid stared around carefully, brows furrowing. She felt a presence, but it wasn't visible. A quick check behind her proved that nobody was behind her either. At first, she was hopeful that it was The Snatcher, but he wouldn't hide from her at all. Well, better to be safe than sorry, she thought, slowly taking out her Umbrella and changing one of her badges for the Projectile Badge that would definitely mess someone up with a laser if they dared to get close.

Hat Kid's eyes sharpened when she spotted a light shadow in the distance with something round on its shoulder. It was heading in her direction, but she couldn't see their face from the sun. She quickly pointed the tip of her umbrella at the new figure. The tip of it started to glow and spark, first yellow, then a mint-green, before it settled on a pink-red, a mystical sound waving off of it threateningly as a large, crackling ball grew. "Stop. Who's there?" Hat Kid called to the figure, voice a bit quiet from her not using it frequently. She waited carefully, both hands having to rest on the handle now from the force of the potential attack.

    Madoka Kaname | Tags: Ramsey
Throughout her walk, Madoka keeps a watchful eye as she glances left and right every which way. The hand that isn't gripping the letter and map tightly holds the other hand like a support, twisting and fidgeting with her Soul Gem ring. So far, she hasn't seen any of the "monsters" yet, but it's best to be able to transform as quickly as possible if the situation calls for it. Not that she's hoping to run into any, but... it's strange that she hasn't run into any other life yet: friend, foe, or stranger. Was the war that happened here-- whatever happened here-- really that awful? It must have been, for this entire area to look as bleak as it does. With a sky so gray, not a ray of sunshine in sight... even witches' labyrinths look more welcoming than this with their creepy yet colorful atmosphere and childish scenery, including the enemy that rests inside of them.

When a figure comes into view in the distant landscape, she has to blink a few times before she registers that it's actually there. It's such a contrast from the dull background that the sight appears unreal, but no, that is an actual person. His choice of fashion especially makes him stand out. The white flower pattern on his shirt and those pastel red flip-flops make him look like a tourist ready for a beach vacation. It's certainly not the most fitting attire for this wasteland, but then again, neither is her school uniform. Maybe this person just woke up here, too? It's a bit of a stretch since X didn't mention bringing any others, but it's worth a shot, right? The only other possibility is that this figure is one of the monsters mentioned in the letter, but she doesn't think any monster would want to stand out this brightly.

Speeding up from walking to a jog, she hurries to catch up with the stranger. "Um, excuse me!" she shouts in his direction as she waves her free arm, hoping to catch his attention.

    Death | N/A | Male | Fate (OC) | Tags: Open

For a while, Death had simply laid there, staring up at the cloud-covered sky. He was familiar with the stale, stagnant air he was breathing in. This place was practically lifeless at this point, he could tell from the strong smell of decay. He recalled being summoned here, but for what reason, and who was responsible for summoning him if there was nobody here? Perhaps he had just been drawn to this place due to the sheer lifelessness of it. No, that couldn't have been the case. He could tell that there wasn't any mana in the air, making it impossible for a Heroic Spirit to just... pop up. Usually, it was impossible anyway, as most of the time they needed a Master to tie them to the world. He didn't have to worry about not having a Master, as his Independent Action skill let him operate without one, but he was still wondering how he even got to this place to begin with.

Finally beginning to move, he looked around the area he was in. He was definitely in a ruined building, with the roof being completely torn off. As for what it was before it was ruined, he couldn't really tell. There were empty cans and water bottles on the floor, along with a note. He finally got up when he noticed his scythe on the floor and his skeletal horse next to it. Picking up his scythe, he examined it closely, feeling the need to make sure it wasn't scratched in any way. It was one of his few belongings, after all; he had to keep it in good condition. Putting his scythe on his back, he shifted his attention to his horse. It seemed to have taken slight offense to Death prioritizing his scythe over it, and he could tell it would be glaring daggers into him if it actually had eyes.

"I'm... sorry about that. I didn't mean to offend you." Death said, patting the horse on the head. "I'm glad you're here." While the horse still seemed a little annoyed, it had calmed down a bit. He then shifted his attention to the note on the ground. It was just a hunch he had, but he felt like it was important somehow. Walking over to it and picking it up, he read through it quickly, then stared at it a little. If this X person wanted to rebuild this place, surely he would have chosen someone other than him. The only person less capable than him of fixing this place would be a Berserker, and even then there were some that were less affected by their Mad Enhancement, and thus capable of reasoning. This X had also summoned him here, if he was reading this note correctly. However, they somehow hadn't been able to form a contract with him. They also mentioned monsters. So this place wasn't lifeless after all.

Death felt a sudden jab into him, and when he turned around, his horse was standing there. It was, once again, rather annoyed, this time because he took too long reading the note. Well, he was sorry he wanted some information. Although... it's want to get up and move was understandable. It probably wasn't the wisest idea to stay in one place, if what he read about the monsters was correct. "Sorry. We should be going." He apologized to his horse once again, stuffing the note into his pocket, then jumping onto the horse's back. He wasn't absolutely sure monsters would go after them, since both his and his horse's bodies were technically dead, although they were alive. It was a bit confusing; if he were to describe it, he would say his body was a living corpse. Both of them never decayed either, so their smell likely wouldn't attract any scavengers. It still was a good idea to get moving though.

Looking over the side of the building, he could see they were about... one or two floors off from the ground. He and his horse could definitely handle that kind of a fall; they were both much stronger than ordinary humans, after all. They would definitely have to take a running jump though. They went to the other side of the room, and his horse started running back, then jumped over what was left of the wall. The landing went smoothly, and so they started looking around the area around them.

    Diego Brando | 20 | Male | JoJo's Bizarre Adventure | Tags: Open

Somehow, Diego had found himself being particularly exhausted after this day. It wasn't even a particularly difficult stretch of the Steel Ball Run; frankly, Diego was quite annoyed with himself for being this tired. He sat down on the bed of the inn he was staying at, laying his helmet down on the nightstand next to the bed. His beloved Silver Bullet was in the stables and was resting. He was planning on departing as soon as he woke up to get more distance in the race. It wasn't the biggest thing, but it could be the difference between winning and losing. But, for now, he needed to get his rest, considering how tired he was at the current moment. He had fallen asleep almost as soon as he laid down on the bed, not even bothering to put the sheets over himself.

When he had woken up, he almost immediately noticed he was laying on the cold, hard ground instead of the bed, which, while rather cheap, was definitely softer than that. This prompted him to almost immediately open his eyes, suspecting some kind of foul play, but he definitely wasn't expecting to wake up in a place that looked like it went through hell and back. This immediately put him on alert, quickly putting his helmet that was rather conveniently right next to him and looking around him. The windows in the room he was in were shattered and the door was knocked off it's hinges. His head was immediately running through ways that this could have happened. It was probably a stand ability of some sort; Funny Valentine's came to mind very quickly. However, he dismissed the thought; Valentine wasn't stupid, if Valentine tried to kill him he definitely wouldn't have waited for him to wake up.

Diego's attention had shifted rather quickly to a note on the ground next to the door. There was also a map with it, showing some sort of region that was unfamiliar to him. As he read over the note, his face eventually turned into one of slight disgust. What the hell was this?! He sure as hell wasn't going to help this person, especially if there was nothing in it for him. If war had ravaged this land, X and everyone else did all of this to themselves. Dealing with monsters sounded unpleasant, but he wanted- no, needed to get back to the race, even if he was bribed into joining it.

Well, he might as well use whatever hints he could get to get to this 'safe place', especially if he wasn't getting anything more. He stuffed the note into his pocket and looked closer at the map. There were a few places that stuck out to him, despite it being rather crude. Heading to the west seemed more promising, as it looked like it had more land, but he didn't know anything about the other areas, so he could just be sending himself on a wild goose chase for all he knew. Still, it was better than nothing. He folded the map up and put it in his pockets, then walked out of that run-down building he was in, ready to find wherever this 'safe area' was.

he was suddenly interrupted from his nervous thoughts as a voice rang out from behind him. letting out a small sigh of relief, he spun around to face the other individual. “oh thank goodness, i thought i was alone here-” ramsey trailed off. clearly he was a little taken aback at the sight of the source of the voice, seeing as how it appeared to be a young pink-haired girl in a school uniform, waving over at him as she approached. that was a first. definitely not what he expected to find in a place like this. not that he exactly fit in with the environment either.. he was going to stand out like a sore thumb in this attire of his, and his face certainly didn’t help in the matter. he was definitely the type to stand out in a crowd. and not in an appealing way.. he just hope his appearance, or the sight of his face close-up wouldn't scare away the only other person around.

he stopped for a moment in order to let her catch up. quick to take notice of the letter and map she grasped in her hand as she got closer. he raised an eyebrow, eyeing it curiously as he came to the realization that he probably wasn’t the only one thrown into this mess. ramsey didn’t recall x mentioning bringing anyone else, yet it seemed that that may have been the case here. which admittedly filled him with a little relief. selfish as it was to wish for anyone else to have to go through this, it was nice to know there were others. what he didn’t like however, was the fact she was so young. he got that this place was dying or whatever, but bringing a kid here seemed a bit cruel.

letting out another sigh, he pulled out his own matching letter and map from his pocket for her to see. “let me guess, you got thrown onto this miserable dying trash-pile without your permission, too?” he asked, keeping a friendly demeanor although he was clearly still annoyed with it all, and rightfully so. he had his own problems to deal with and helping this place wasn’t one of them.

for a moment, natsuki's investigation wasn't going anywhere. nothing really interesting came into sight, aside from the cars, ruined buildings, and shattered earth below her. for a brief moment, natsuki wondered what the other members of SEES were up to back home. knowing them, they must have already found her missing and were probably looking throughout the dorm for her, if natsuki had to guess. they were always like that, looking out for one another. but in the back of her mind, natsuki began to have doubts about whether the mysterious "x" person was even telling the truth about saving the world. what could be worth saving in this world, if it had been practically reduced to an utter wasteland? would she be even to get home in one piece if she simply followed what the note described?
but as natsuki looked to her left, she caught sight of a figure, a young man with a fedora. this made natsuki immediately stop in her tracks, one hand reaching for her nunchucks. whoever he was, the man didn't look like he was going to move, but natsuki couldn't be entirely sure. at the same time, natsuki couldn't tell if he was friend or foe, especially given the situation. he didn't look familiar, his outfit looking rather outlandish and not nearly as dusty as the surroundings were. but whether he came peacefully or looking for a fight, she wasn't going to take her chances.

"stay back!" natsuki shouted to the man, her hand now clenching her nunchucks. "are you from this world, or were you brought here too?"

exhaling an exhasperated sigh, varian began walking catiously, carefully analyzing his surroundings. he had no idea where he was or who had brought him here, so he had to keep watch for any possible danger. he had nothing to defend himself with: his staff was back at home, along with all of his test tubes and potions. perhaps if he could find some materials he would be able to create something from scratch. luckily for him, his skill in alchemy deemed tremendous. sure, his inventions could sometimes be a big fail, but they worked most of the time, right?

but as soon as he heard an unfamiliar voice, the boy halted abruptly in his tracks. whipping his head around, he noticed a shape in the distance. was it a person? from what varian could see, they brown hair, along with some kind of hat on their head. definitely not anyone he'd ever seen before. taking a small step towards them, varian cocked an eyebrow curiously. perhaps it was "x"? very unlikely: this person looked short and unthreatening. but varian knew he had to be wary. ruddiger chirped anxiously from around his shoulders, and varian reached on arm up to calm him down. "it's okay ruddiger, i don't think they'll hurt us." as varian slowly inched closer to them, he could now make out their form: it was a girl, with brown hair and blue eyes, and some strange choices of clothing. the top hat on her head was very noticeable, but varian found it kind of cool.

before he could even take another step, ruddiger leapt down from his shoulders and began racing towards the girl curiously. varian gasped and ordered him to halt, and the little raccoon obeyed. it surprised him, but he payed it little mind and instead began racing towards his pet. he scooped up ruddiger in his arms, scolding him lightly. when he looked back up at the girl, they were only a few feet away from each other. "i'm so sorry, he can get a little worked up sometimes, eheh." he patted his pet awkwardly on the head before clearing his throat a few moments after. "so, uh, who are you? i'm assuming you aren't x...?" he dragged out the x while gazing at her hopefully.

She's grateful when the other stops, allowing her to slow down as she reaches him. He certainly has a unique appearance; from farther away, she wasn't able to spot the gold accessories he wears nor his golden eye which she can now see clearly from standing right next to him. It only adds to his bold look, though she's not too sure whether she can pinpoint him as friendly or not based on that alone. Stopping for her when he didn't have to could certainly be considered nice, though.

Her first theory is that this man is possibly X, but it's proven false when he takes out a letter and map identical to her own. So they did bring others as well, she thinks, but it's odd that X wouldn't tell them they did. Wouldn't they want all the people they brought to work together to restore this world? It seems silly to forget to mention that fact in the letter, especially in a place like this with dangerous creatures running around. But oh well-- there's no need to worry about that now, since they can't possibly add to a letter that's already been written.

A 'miserable, dying trash-pile'... that's certainly one way to put it. Fairly accurate, too, but it's such a pessimistic description. Frowning, she replies, "Yeah... I just woke up in a building over there." She points behind her from where she was walking, but the building in question is so far back that it's hardy visible now. Even if it could be seen from here, it's difficult to single it out from all the similar-looking battered buildings around it.

She turns back towards the stranger. If he's in the same situation and has the same letter, wandering around the area, maybe they could stick together. Her motto is that it's always better to stick with a friend than to be alone! ...That mostly applies to fighting witches, but it can apply here as well. "I'm Madoka Kaname, from Mitakihara City. It's nice to meet you!" The smile she gives him is genuine, but even so, she's still feeling anxious on the inside. After all, they were just brought to an unknown land without their permission, as the man put it. "Are you looking for X, too?"
