- It only took one quick glance in Hana's direction to see how her body had tensed up and she had raised her arm in preparation to hit him. There was no surprise that was how she reacted. Quickly allowing his gaze to flicker away, he braced himself for the oncoming attack, his own body becoming tense. There was no telling exactly how hard she was going to hit him. He supposed it depended on how upset she was over the comment he had made her. Honestly, he wasn't sure he wanted to find out, but he had no choice. Closing his eyes for a moment, he tilted his head downward in attempt to hide his entire face from her in hopes that it wouldn't be the place of target for her attack. He was sure smacking his mask wouldn't feel great for either of them and who knew if such a thing would trigger Arsene to reveal himself. He doubted it would come to such, but sometimes Arsene had a mind of his own and would come out in order to defend him in times of need. If that were to happen, he'd definitely have a lot of explaining to do. There was no hiding the persona. After a moment passed and nothing happened, Ren allowed his eyes to open once again. Had she had a change of heart? It was hard to tell given the position he was currently in though he still didn't dare look up. Maybe that was what she was waiting for, a moment when he would let his guard down. Those were always the most opportune times to strike. That was something he knew all too well from his time as a phantom thief. Striking shadows when they were most vulnerable was the best way to surprise them and easily reveal the forms they wished to seal away. He assumed that attacking him was no different. Despite being turned away from her, he was still in a defensive position to protect himself. It wasn't an optimal time to get at him. It was a position he should continue to hold, but something told him that it was alright to let his body ease up. However, he steeled himself until he heard Hana finally speak.
Lifting his head, Ren looked towards her though he instantly noticed that she was no longer looking at him nor did she have a hand raised. It seemed she had had a change of heart. That was lucky for him. However, it seemed his words had embarrassed her as much as they had embarrassed him to say. That was no surprise. Saying such a thing to a stranger wasn't necessarily something that was comfortable unless it was coming from a flirt. He wasn't necessarily someone who didn't flirt, but it was definitely in no situation like this. He knew how to time himself with such and even then he was careful about whom he chose to flirt with knowing that all people reacted differently to such things. It was clear that Hana didn't seem to be one that would react well to such things or at least that was the feeling he took away from all this. Not that it mattered. There was no reason to resort to such things with her. Pushing the thought aside, Joker focused on the words which she spoke. It was good that she knew what he had been hinting at though her previous reaction already had made that clear. At her question that followed, the teen offered a small shrug of his shoulders. There was no certainty to the situation they found themselves in. The only way they would know the answer was if they were told otherwise or they could come up with another solution. Even so, they wouldn't be able to know what was truth and what was not. As he was about to open his mouth to answer her question, he heard her continue on and immediately stopped himself. Her next statement caused his brow to quirk and a soft chuckle to escape his lips. It was an amusing way of looking at things. He would have never thought the way one dressed would determine whether or not they shared interests with another. Sure some styles would prove things, but to claim that they would have nothing in common because it? That was an absurd thought to him.
Letting her continue on, Ren's amusement only grew. He knew his attire wasn't the most comforting nor did it send the best vibes, but it was hilarious to listen to her explain it. At her words, a smile grew on his lips and he gave a small shake of his head. He wasn't sure where the pilot thing had come from, but given that she had brought it up he felt he could assume that was what she was. She was at least right about that part. He was no pilot nor anything closely related to it, but that did not mean that still had nothing in common with one another. "It's hard to say how much we might have in common, but to judge by ones clothing, now that is amusing," he remarked. "But you are right. I am no pilot. I would make the claim I am nothing more than a mere high school student, but I'm sure you wouldn't buy that." Giving yet another shake of his head, Joker reached to his face and pulled the mask from his face. "Your claims that I do not appear safe are somewhat accurate albeit for some I am a hero while to my targets I am nothing more than a criminal," he mused. As much as he did not wish to continue on, there was no backing out of it now. He was positive as of now that they did not even hail from the same place thus revealing himself to her would do him no harm. Besides, even if she was, she had no proof to show anyone else. "I am a phantom thief, but not necessarily the kind of thief you might be thinking of. It's hard to explain, but I only target the corrupt and get them to confess to the crimes they have committed." Placing his mask on top of his head, Ren fully turned to face Hana, the smile now gone from his face only to be replaced by a more serious expression. The only ones he had ever had to reveal himself to were his teammates and even then he didn't need to explain himself. Usually Morgana handled that. Unfortunately, the cat was no here to handle such matters. He'd probably be scolding him for giving away such information so easily in the first place.
"If you wish to consider me a criminal, then so be it," Joker finally continued on as he rested a hand against his hip. "I was branded one for a crime I didn't even commit but I was given a chance to make a difference nevertheless and to make Japan a better place. So don't worry about me harming you. Besides, my team does not harm those we target, but rather a cognition they have of themselves." By now, he was sure he had spoken enough about himself. Actually, this was probably the most he had spoken of himself in quite some time and to a stranger of all things. For someone who was notoriously known for being quiet, he sure could talk too much when he felt he needed to. Another thing he was sure of was that he had driven home the point of having nothing in common or at least on the surface they didn't. Still he had seen the way she had been looking at him before. Even if they had nothing in common, she seemed curious about him and it would be a lie if he said he didn't feel the same about her. Taking a step closer to her, the thief cocked his head as a faint smirk finally crossed his lips once again. "Whatever reason this place has for bringing together a pilot and phantom thief, we won't know unless we have a look around. Maybe while we do we can find common ground between us."
