K1-B0:
Standing upon the stage was a sized up version of the bear toy that had contained that one boy's hamsters. But this one is moving and talking. Without even an explanation for its presence, it begins to make demands. "I would like you all to walk up the stairs to the stage, and tell everyone who you are! After that I will explain the rules!"
"Hold on! Who are you? Are you responsible for this?" Kiibo asks, scowling.
Swifter than one would expect from a rotund bear animatronic, it comes down, hits Jataro in the face, and forces him onto the stage.
"Hey! You can't wake people up like that! Especially not a child!" His protests are completely disregarded. Everything is happening so fast that Kiibo can hardly keep up. It seems like in a flash, giant metal spikes have pierced through the stage floor, leaving him in stunned silence. How did that—Kiibo staggers back, reevaluating just how much danger they all might be in. Jataro mumbles through an introduction and is practically thrown off the stage.
"Who's introducing themselves next?!"
Dead silence. Kiibo is frozen in place.
After a beat or two, the bear speaks again. "If no one is volunteering, then you're going next!" It spins until all Kiibo can see is a black and white blur, and when it stops, its claw is pointing at... him? No, wait—behind him.
SHUICHI SAIHARA:
Oh, no. Surely the bear couldn't be pointing at him. The already pale boy goes paper white as he takes a look around, hoping that someone else is the actual target. When nothing appears to save him, Shuichi reluctantly shuffles onto the stage. His heart beats faster in his chest as he passes by the spikes which had erupted from the ground minutes ago.
He stares down at his feet, allowing his hat to block out most of his view. It's only an introduction, he reminds himself. Get it over with.
His mouth is dry, and he swallows before he can speak. "My name is... Shuichi Saihara," he says in a low voice, just loud enough for everyone to catch. "I'm called the Ultimate Detective, but, um, I'm really just an apprentice." There's not much for him to say. He tilts his head up just high enough to glance at the bear. Was that acceptable? He keeps a careful eye on it as he quickly walks back off the stage.
