Danganronpa Superpowered Roleplay (Open!)

SHUICHI SAIHARA:
Shuichi mumbles his thanks, adjusting his hat to help hide his embarrassed blush.

They follow the map back into the building and into a dim and dusty hallway at the back of the building. The door to the lab fits right in with its dark colours and worn looking magnifying glass symbol emblazoned on the surface. Caution tape is looped around the door haphazardly, and Shuichi makes a face. If Kiibo's lab was any indication, he might not like this. He cracks the door open to peek inside. It's pitch black even when he opens it further, so he feels along the wall to find the light switch.

The lights flicker a couple times before turning on, and Shuichi feels his stomach drop. It looks like an incredibly stereotypical living room, like something out of a dollhouse, only it's completely trashed. A bookshelf is knocked over, couch ripped open, lamp smashed on the ground. There's what he hopes is a pool of fake blood congealing on the far side of the room, blood spray on the wall, and bloody footprints tracked into multiple places. A copious amount of caution tape seems to be placed here just to obstruct their way. It straddles the line between ominous and cheesy.

He's a bit surprised Monokuma hasn't shown up again and not quite sure whether he's grateful or disappointed that he doesn't get any direction from him. Is he supposed to... solve the crime?

"Do you think we'll get anything if we solve the mystery? Maybe we should just move on for now..." He bets Hajime wants to find his lab after all, and he doesn't want to delay that to play some game with Monokuma.

K1-B0:
Kiibo follows Shuichi into the lab and looks around, lost. Well, this is definitely the Ultimate Detective's lab and Kiibo's not too comfortable with the implied violence of the scene. That's about all he can say about it. He's not very well versed in the mystery genre, unfortunately... maybe Shuichi wouldn't mind if he borrows one of the mystery books by the bookshelf.

"I do assume there will be a point to it. There was to mine, after all, despite what an eye sore it was." He hums thoughtfully. "Let's take a look around? If it looks like it'll take a while, we can come back to it later."

He helps Shuichi take down all the caution tape, stuffing it into a waste bin. Then they go over to the pool of blood. Kiibo hovers his hand over it and thankfully, doesn't detect the scent of iron. "It's fake," he says, relieved.

OOC: Hehe, Rantaro and Hajiime do share a voice actor. What could it meannnn. And yes, I approve. Komaru is doomed to be nicknamed Sound Waves. It's weirdly cute imo. Also, there is something in Shuichi's lab which Kooky told me about. Other than that, completely making up the details as usual : ) just feel like it'd make sense for there to be a bit of a challenge before they can find it.

Hajime Hinata

When the lights flicker on, Hajime lets out some sort of combination of a sigh and a shudder. It's a mess, just like Kiibo's lab, and he's not sure if the rest of the power labs are going to be as chaotic. The shudder is caused by the contents of the scene itself; even as Kiibo confirms the blood is fake, the dread in the pit of his stomach doesn't go away.

He follows Shuichi's comment of solving the mystery and spins as he looks around the room, treading carefully to avoid the glass on the floor from the broken lamp. "Where do we start?" he asks, taking his gaze off the destruction to look at Kiibo and Shuichi. It's obvious what the end result was, but he's not sure what they have to solve from there. What happened? Who did it? When it happened? But surely Kiibo is right; once they find the answer to the unspoken question, there has to be something in store.

SHUICHI SAIHARA:
There's no body, but the blood splatter leads him to think that the victim was stabbed. The footprints start here and then go to the painting, fireplace, couch, and finally bookshelves in a roughly counter-clockwise pattern. The prints are nearly gone by then, but lastly they go up the fake stairs leading to nowhere. At certain points, the foot prints looked stepped over by someone else. Surely not by the victim, so...

"Where do we start?"

"Oh, um... Hajime, can you look at the fireplace? And Kiibo, can you check the couch? I'll check the bookshelf and we can go from there. Let's cover as much ground as possible."

Returning to his previous train of thought, this looks to be a case of breaking and entering. Probably two people, and they seemed to be looking for something in particular. The expensive looking watch left lying conspicuously on the coffee table adds to the impression they weren't simple robbers. It's a very rushed job, though, and he doesn't think they found what they were looking for since they head upstairs. Perhaps whatever they were looking for is the lab's prize.

All the books have been dumped off the bookshelf. Shuichi begins sorting through them. They seem to be either mystery novels or forensic science books. At one point he spots an outlier and begins skimming through it... blushing furiously, he shoves it into the fallen shelf. What was Monokuma thinking putting something like that... well, never mind.

The next book to catch his eye is a science fiction title. A bit more hesitantly, he skims this one as well. On the last page, there's a handwritten message: "Every day is peaceful. Every day is joyful. Happy days from the time you wake up to the time you go to sleep."

Kiibo wanders over and Shuichi shows him the book. "Something to do with time?" he muses. "By the way, the couch seems to have been ripped open by a bloody knife or something similar. I dug deeper into it and there was a broken clock stuffed inside. Perhaps these things are related." He passes the clock over to Shuichi. It's a small analog clock and its hands are no longer moving.

They go over to show Hajime the book too. "Have you found anything, Hajime?" Shuichi asks.

OOC: Haha my poor loser boy... watch him be the first to die too lol. Apologies for crappy puzzle made on the fly. I was thinking there's a half burnt calendar in the fireplace that Hajime could find. There's a lot of irrelevant stuff written in it, but the important part is the message 'dinner - 6 pm' with a smiley face under September 7th. One might also notice that the back wall to the fireplace looks off. Someone else has noticed to, as there are faint knife marks around the edges of the wall. There's a hidden room behind it, but how to reach it?

Hajime Hinata

He nods, heading towards the fireplace. Upon first glance, it seems like it's empty, but Hajime catches something in the shadows that he almost missed: a calendar of Spetember in the year 20... the rest is burnt off. To be honest, even if he could clearly see the year, he would have no idea if it was correct or not. The last week of the year is unreadable as well, replaced by ashes. It's an odd thing to want to burn, Hajime thinks, and he starts to read through all the memos for each day. It's a lot of 'meeting at x:xx, conference at x:xx', and it all seems like business, with the exception of the childish sketch of a smiley face on September 7th.

Placing the calendar to the side, he inspects further to see if there's anything else. There aren't any other objects, but a detail of the fireplace strikes him as odd. It's hard to make out without a flashlight, but there are definitely knife marks around the back wall.

He crawls out of the fireplace just in time to see Shuichi and Kiibo walk over to him. They must already be done with their investigations, and it seems like they've found some clues based on the book Shuichi shows him and the clock he holds. The handwritten message is an odd thing to find in a science fiction book, even if it's assumed it was written by the reader. It reminds him of something, and glancing down to the floor, he makes the connection.

"I think I did find something," he says, picking the calendar up off the floor and showing it to the two. "Happy days... maybe it's referring to this?" He points to September 7th and reads the day's overview. "There's only one reminder for this day. Maybe that's the time we need to set on the clock?"

"There's also something weird with the fireplace, if it makes a difference," he adds. "The edges of the back wall look scratched up by a knife, if you've found anything like that in here?"

SHUICHI SAIHARA:
September 7th? His eyes narrow suspiciously; there's no way that's a coincidence. What could this be; an exceptionally convoluted threat? His gaze lingers on the square, but can glean no further meaning. It's probably just another of Monokuma's ways of messing with him.

"Yeah... let's try it." He hands Kiibo the book so he can set the clock to the listed time and hears a faint set of clicks from the fireplace. There doesn't appear to be any visual difference, so he sets the clock down and goes to examine the knife marks Hajime mentioned. The back wall of the fireplace looks separated from the rest of it by a thin gap. It looks like the assailants were trying to wedge the knife into the crevices to little success. But maybe that's changed now...

With a firm push, the back wall begins sliding back. He pushes it in a few centimetres in before it starts retracting by itself and then pulls up to reveal a hidden room around the size of a small jail cell. It's all grey cement with a stark white light shining down dramatically on the single object in the room. It's Monokuma... or at least a replica, and it's wearing a hat identical to Shuichi's.

His curiosity quickly overwhelms him, and Shuichi bends down to pass through the fireplace and enter the room. Slowly, he approaches, and as he steps into the room, his clothing suddenly gains a faint white glow. Alarmed, he freezes, and when doom doesn't befall him, moves to the side. As he leaves the Monokuma's line of sight, the glow fades. Experimentally, he removes the hat from the Monokuma. This doesn't appear to do anything. With the hat removed it's physically identical to the original, though its arms are raised like it's parting the sea.

Kiibo enters after him, and as he steps past the threshold, his entire body is bathed in that white glow. Clearly unnerved, he moves to the side as quickly as possible. "Do you think it's safe to be in here?" he asks.

"Well, if this is a reward..." His voice dies. He's dropped the hat in front of the Monokuma to see if it would glow. It does. What he doesn't expect is for it to disobey the laws of gravity and hover in front of the bear's face.

Himiko Yumeno

"Super lucky, huh..." There's a pause, a long pause, where Himiko closes her eyes and hums to herself before she speaks again. "It must be Ultimate Bad Luck, then... having good luck and getting stuck here would be such a pain." Not that it isn't a pain without good luck, she thinks, because it truly is.

With the talk of Ultimates, her attention turns towards Komaru. "Do you have a talent, Sound Waves?" she asks the girl.

Hajime Hinata

The quiet clicks from the fireplace make him turn his head back towards it. He watches as Shuichi heads in first, revealing a secret room past the fireplace's back wall. Kiibo enters next, and Hajime crawls into the fireplace last, stepping into the hidden room.

His clothes glow with a white light as he stands up. This worries him for a second, and especially shocks him when he looks straight ahead to see Monokuma staring right at him. Almost immediately, he follows Kiibo in stepping to the side, relieved when the white glow fades and the Monokuma remains still.

Shuichi drops an extra hat in front of the Monokuma, and it floats like it's sitting in water. It also gets the white glow their clothes had. Hajime is nothing short of confused. "I wonder what it's supposed to be, though," he says, staring between the hovering hat and the Monokuma replica. "If it's in your lab, Shuichi, maybe it's something to help you?" After all, the real Monokuma did say these labs are meant to help. He's honestly not sure if he can trust that bear's word, but he still slowly reaches out a hand and touches the replica's head.

(OOC: Yep, Sound Waves is here to stay! And I just made the connection that Sep. 7th is Shuichi's birthday.
This is really... strange. I'm honestly not sure what this replica could be.
And now you've added the comment about its power... does that relate to the white glow and the hat floating somehow? Aw, I honestly hope not, or else it classifies Kiibo as inanimate)

"I wonder what it's supposed to be, though," Hajime says. "If it's in your lab, Shuichi, maybe it's something to help you?" Shuichi assumes so, but he really isn't sure how something like this could connect to his talent.

As Hajime cautiously places his hand on the Monokuma's head, Shuichi's clothes start glowing again, as do Hajime's and all of Kiibo. It seems that the range of the effect has spread to the entire room. Shuichi hears an odd noise from above them. He adjusts his hat and tilts his head up to look in time to see a spiderweb of cracks spread all across the ceiling. It begins to crumble, except it doesn't, seeming to be held in place by the glow just as the spare hat is.

The Monokuma hasn't moved at all, but its fixed grin suddenly seems ten times more malicious.

"I think we should get out of here," Shuichi says hastily. As if in response, a chunk of ceiling momentarily loses its glow and slams down right in front of the exit. It's not enough to block it, but it feels like a warning. He’s rooted in place, but apparently Kiibo is unfazed as the robot begins skipping towards the exit at an oddly casual pace. Or actually, he’s running in slow motion..?

Kiibo doesn't appreciate that fact that all of him glows, rather than just his clothing—or armour, more accurately. He's pretty sure that it's in some way robophobic, though he can hardly complain to the Monokuma replica that appears to be responsible for the effect. As far as he can tell, it is not detrimental to him, but he is contemplating leaving anyways.

There's the noise of something breaking apart above him, and the ceiling is suddenly decorated with cracks glowing with the same white light. Shuichi says something that he doesn't quite catch, though his tone is very worried. He's looking towards the exit, so Kiibo assumes they are leaving, but he frowns when he sees a chunk of cement in front of the door. That wasn't there before. He believes it’s ‘instinct’ which has him run for the exit.

OOC: Okay, I got some clarification on what the Monokuma does, and it turns out that Shuichi's lab would like to tell him to get wrecked lol. Since Monokuma was considered an inanimate object for Kiibo's power, I thought it was likely Kiibo would qualify here. But the way I'm interpreting it, he gets a bit of leeway since he has a consciousness. Otherwise, he'd be pretty screwed.
