"...!" Piers gasped as a sudden rapping on the phone box from behind him snapped him out of his thoughts. Looking behind him, he saw a middle-aged man pointing at the phone. Oh, okay. Talk about a relief. The old bloke just wanted to make some calls. If he was a fan or something...wait, did Piers even HAVE fans outside of Spikemuth? Avoiding the limelight and all, he sure hoped not. Though that day back in Wyndon when the kids needed his help...ugh, he was getting lost in thought again!
Piers left the phone box, holding the door open for the man. Shoving his hands into his pockets, he tried to look for a good place to get lost in. With all these famous folks from other regions running around, no doubt he could go unrecognized by some, even with his particularly loud outfit. But even so he wasn't one for attention. Even when he was a Gym Leader he went out of his way to avoid the televised events unless literally required of him. Being on TV was gonna be bad enough as it was, no need for more than that.
Finally, he spotted the perfect escape, one better than his original idea of ducking into an alleyway and looking like some sort of criminal. A small restaurant, out of the way of all the hubbub of Wyndon. Besides, he was getting pretty hungry...a quick meal before the tournament started couldn't hurt, right? Piers made a beeline for the little place, getting a table pretty quickly...though it was clear why when the hostess sheepishly asked him for an autograph, which he was happy to sign. It was nice when folks didn't cause a...scene...
Hold on. Was that...? He blinked, looking at the figure hunched over by the window table next to his. No way...he'd saved up to take Marnie to Nimbasa City for her thirteenth birthday a few months ago and remembered that guy from the tabloids. The Unova Champion... Piers shouldn't have been surprised that Champions from all over would be here, but even so! To be in the same restaurant as one from another region! It was one thing, knowing Leon and then Athena from before, but there was some sort of mysticism to someone from another place. Mindlessly fumbling with the silver trinket on his choker, he didn't even realize he was staring. Hadn't even figured out what to order yet...

Nearby the two trainers and there Pokemon, a third party watched from the shadows, bright eyes on the two of them, until finally emerging from her hiding place. What came forward was a pink Pokemon, with a happy little smile on its face. "Mime!" She cried her merry little greeting, placing her hands before her as if there was an invisible wall before her. The Mr. Mime wasn't really sure what was going on. There seemed to be some unhappy humand and Pokemon! Nothing a little performance couldn't fix, right?
Meanwhile, back at camp, Valerie stirred her curry a bit more, making sure it stayed warm. Hmm...something didn't seem right...looking around her camp, her Pokemon seemed okay. Sylveon was chatting with Rapidash, who seemed content with his company. Mawile had the rest of the curry plates gathered around her, licking them clean with both mouths. And Mr. Mime...
Valerie gasped. Mr. Mime! Where was she? Valerie hadn't even realized she'd run off...they had seen Galarian Mr. Mimes around earlier...had she wandered off to meet them? The Gym Leader felt her stomach drop, horrified like a mother missing sight of her child. She wasted no time in packing up her camp, forced to put her curry away into a container. It didn't matter anymore, Mr. Mime could be in danger! Returning her other Pokemon to their Poke Balls, Valerie and Sylveon set off, her companion using his nose to try and track their missing team mate.
