twenty-five years ago there was a group known as the phantom thieves of heart.
they stole the hearts of distorted people in attempt to make japan a better
place. the group achieved such a goal and destroyed the metaverse. with
their work done, the thieves continued to stay friends, but disbanded their
team. ever since then they have lived peaceful lives and started families of
their own. now a new threat has arisen and the metaverse has been recreated
unbeknownst to the former thieves until the mental shutdowns begin once more.
the shutdowns were not the only alarming occurrence though. the death rate
began to rise as well. the causes for many of these deaths is unknown and has
caused law enforcement to scramble in search for answers.

the cause of these shutdowns and deaths are all linked to a group of scientists
who were the first to discover the reappearance of the metaverse. using the old
research of wakaba isshiki, this group began studying the metaverse. at the time
they hired people whom they thought could be potential persona users and used
them as test subjects in their research. some of these subjects successfully
awakened personas while others were not so lucky and were disposed of. these
unlucky people threatened to shed light on this secret project and thus the
shutdowns and killings begun. using the persona users they had hired, this group
began seeking much more power. others began joining them causing many powerful
adults to become even more corrupt than they had been before.

to oppose this threat, a new team has arisen to face this new challenge. led by a
teen that was handpicked by igor, the new phantom thieves was created. hiding
their identities this group seeks to better japan and follow in the steps of the
former thieves. little do they know of what they are truly up against.

      () -ratia mamiya!!
xxxxxxxxxfemale seventeen years old fool arcana tagged: open
      xxxxxxxxx──────────────────────────────────

It was yet another school year. Vacation had passed by all too fast this time around, but Gratia didn't mind all too much. She was used to such things given that she was entering her final year of school. Not all things were fine and dandy though. For starters she had attempted to become student council president given that the last had graduated, but it had been to no avail. That wasn't the worst thing to happen, but she had wanted it so she might have something to impress her parents with given that they were rather successful in their lives. Maybe neither of them would have been impressed by such a thing in the first place. Nevertheless, she hadn't gotten it anyways. However, there was far worse things going about that bothered her. Mental shutdowns had begun occurring around the city. Such a thing had happened years before she had been born, but she had learned about in school and from listening to the local news. Her parents seemed quite concerned by it as well, but they always talked in hushed voices to one another when the subject came about and any time she tried to ask what they were going on about, they dismissed her and told her it was nothing. It was clear to her that it was more than that though. She wasn't brave enough to question them farther though. Her concerns with the whole thing was that the people seemed to be randomly selected. At any moment it seemed that anyone could be the next target. That feeling seemed to hang in the air everywhere she went and that bothered her greatly. No place was safe. Letting a sigh escape her lips, she tried her best to ignore the feeling as she walked towards the school with her phone in hand. Looking over a text message her mother had sent, the teen couldn't help but shake her head. She knew her parents always meant good, but she hated that they worried about her safety so much. If anything Cecil was the one they should be concerned about.

At the thought of her brother, Gratia glanced over her shoulder and realized that he was no longer trailing behind her. He couldn't be that far though and besides, the school was up ahead. Glancing down at the time, she figured she had enough time to wait and see if he showed up before heading to the building. It was possible that he slipped ahead while she had been distracted by her own thoughts. What a great sibling she was to lose her own brother. There was no need to panic though. Everything was going to be alright. Leaning back against the nearest building, she quietly watched as other students passed by; some which she knew and others that she hadn't seen before. However, none of them were ones she considered herself close to. Even as a third year student, she couldn't say she had all too many friends. Most seemed to avoid her. Maybe it was because of who her parents were or perhaps her mother. She had been well known at Shujin Academy many years ago when she had attended. She supposed her father had left his mark too although he had only attended Shujin for a year while he was under prohibition. Would people really hold such things against her though? She doubted it given that her parents ties to Shujin would be something most wouldn't know about unless they dug into such a thing. Then again most knew who her mother was given her status as a model. Even so, it sucked that she was a loner of sorts with the exception of the other few that had joined her on her journey in the Metaverse thus far. It was something she could never tell her parents though. That would only make them worry more about her well being. She always had to find ways to convince them that she was going out with others although more times than not she ended up in the library by herself studying or reading whatever interested her at the time. Maybe this year would change that. She could only hope. Rolling her shoulders back, Gratia locked her phone and folded her arms over her chest as she quietly waited to see if Cecil would show up or if someone she happened to know would join her instead. It wasn't unusual for one of the others to be with her.

Cecil░Λmamiya (哀ラ英)
───────────────────────────────✦────────────────────────────
Male✦Sixteen years old✦Lovers ✦Tags:

It was that dreadful time again..school. To be honest, Cecil didn’t mind school at all. It was..well, he didn’t have an opinion on it. In fact, Cecil didn’t have an opinion on anything really. He just went with the flow of things, like school. He went there, did what he had to do and if anyone needed anything, he’ll do his best to satisfy people. Although he didn’t mind school, Cecil was going to miss his summer vacation. He managed to have a good time this year with his family~ Now that was over with, it was time for him to begin his second year at Shujin Academy..a school that had gotten in some deep mess twenty-five years ago. He remembered when his parents talked about what happened at the school those many years ago, something about a rotten volleyball couch. He was also told to report anything suspicious to the principal if he needed to. The boy wasn’t going to know who was suspicious or not, he wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed. Unfortunately, he wasn’t never told how suspicious or shady people acted, he was only told to avoid them. Anyway, it was almost time for Cecil to get ready for school. After getting out of his cozy bed, Cecil brushed his hair down some, clipping the hair piece his mother gave him in hair, washed his face, then finally put on his school uniform. Now he was ready to go, so he grabbed his bag and joined his sister in the front room and soon enough found himself following Gratia out the door after gulping down his breakfast. As always, the pancakes where extremely sweet and topped with many fruits and a bunch of syrup. Well..that’s when what you get when your mother has a big sweet tooth

As Cecil walked with Gratia, the phone in his pocket began to buzz. He grabbed to see what it was, seem to be a message from his dad. He was just telling Cecil to be careful, don’t talk to strangers on the streets, don’t get distracted...umm what else. Oh, stay close to his sister. The lad nodded, replying with a simple ok, but he added a little more to message. Of course Cecil would heave warning about talking to strangers..but for how long? Soon, he stopped when saw something playing on t.v that was inside a store. It was an ad for a new video game that was coming out soon.”...Ooooo.. Cool~.” he continued to watch, Gratia getting further and further away from him. Thankfully, she wasn’t far from him, it was a little down the street, across the street from the school.” Hey kid, you like that game? I can help you get it and alot more games if you help me and some friends out.” An older man walked beside Cecil with his hands tucked in his pockets. It was clear that this guy was shady.” Huh? Oh really? I mean, my dad told me not to talk to strangers.” Cecil replied. The man kept his cool, muttering under his breath.”It’ll be alright, we can be friends and then I won't be a stranger right?” the younger boy nodded.”Oh, that’s fine then~ ok, how can I help?” great start to the new school year. He totally had forgotten he had to go to school, this man caught his interest

Failnaught||10||Judgement Arcana||Tagged: Gratia
Failnaught made her way to the school gate, moving with the crowd as her eyes flicked from person to person, pausing only long enough to read through the information that flashed above their heads. Names, ages, places of residence, occupations, a few snippets of social media if they happened to have them. She could look into them in more detail if she wanted, but most of them didn't warrant such scrutiny. They were just normal kids, nothing much special about them. She was looking for kids with a history of traumatic experiences, or the telltale twinge in what an organic being would call their gut. Their records showed that unresolved trauma was a key factor in developing a Persona, and also that those with Personae, or the ability to develop them, were drawn together, as if by fate. Which was really the main reason they had her infiltrate the school, with any luck candidates would just gravitate towards her. Not that it had been very successful, most people didn't even know she was there. The few she had selected weren't viable candidates, and had to be shut down. If it wasn't for the fact that the directors still had faith in her, she'd have quit a long time ago. She didn't see what they saw in her, but it wasn't her place to question.

As she headed towards the school entrance, a figure waiting off to the side caught her eye, and pinged a red flag in her hud. Gratia Amamiya. Daughter of Ren Amamiya, the man arrested in conjuction with the mental shutdowns that occurred twenty-five years ago. His involvement in the affair wasn't public knowledge, but the organization had friends in high places with access to such things. Failnaught had judged her as a potential target, but had been told not to recruit her. Why exactly she wasn't sure, but it wasn't her place to question. As always, the android walked past her classmate, keeping her head down.

      ☾✧ — Rᴀɴ Mᴏᴄʜɪᴢᴜᴋɪ
---- she/her 18 phantom thief moon arcana tags. cecil
It was surreal how much a change of scenery could change things for the better. Ran was going through her morning routine and getting dressed for work when she realized that for the first time in a long while she felt... happy. It's like she'd spent so long steeping in the vitriol of her family home that she'd forgotten it was even possible to wake up and feel fine, ready to face the day, even excited to head back into the Metaverse later if they had the chance. After she had moved to Tokyo, the entire process of finding a place to stay and a job to sustain herself was extremely stressful. After, there was a time for reinvention, for making up who she would be from now on. How that person would act, how she'd dress, what she would look like, and then trying to juggle the million different parts of her act into place while working to keep the fragile new structure of her life. Two months later, however, things had settled down into routine. Her work at the library was simple but good at keeping her busy, and her supervisor was very lenient - which was lucky for her, because not everybody in Tokyo would hire someone who looked like Ran had started dressing up as. The Metaverse, however, was more than fine, it was legitimately exciting. It was fairytale fare, really - she was so curious about how it worked.

Then she headed out to work, stuffing her hands into the pockets of the leather jacket and walking at a quick pace to the subway station she'd take to get to the library. She focused on fixing her expression into a bored, businesslike look and paying little attention to anything else. It was only because she was already thinking about the Phantom Thieves that she ended up spotting him as she passed by. It was one of her teammates, one of the Amamiya siblings, in a school uniform and staring at a store window. He was also being leered over by a man that set Ran's skin crawling, though she wasn't sure why beyond just the bad associations she had with most adults in her life. Ran paused, considering if she should intervene and if so, how. She ended up deciding that her new self didn't really need a reason to butt into a conversation beyond not liking the person. So with that, she brought up her best disrespectful punk swagger and strolled up to Cecil. "Hey. Nice to see you around, Amamiya." She walked up and shoulder-checked the man, leaning against the shop's window right between the two of them and rooting around for a cigarette on her pockets, an old bad habit that dovetailed surprisingly well with her new act. "I have some stuff for you back at my place." She finished lighting the cigarette before she studiously took a look at the man, as if she'd only noticed him there now. She made a show of looking him up and down and then glowering, trying to get through the idea of 'you and I are both shady people, but this one is mine. I got here first.'

Yasubi Masomi
he/him | six-teen | Hanged | Tags: Gratia

Yasu had left home with no real plan as to what his first day back to classes would look like. Then again, his only plan for the past few years was that there was no plan. He had had a gut feeling since he turned twelve that he would die soon. But the universe's version of soon had to be different since he was still there four years later, and the fact that it would be five was weighing on him this particular morning. As this day had began, he had let it weigh heavier than normal. Indulging in the lack of plan he needed to live for the day but also letting the anxiety of needing a plan for the metaverse linger. There were far to many mental shutdowns lately and he worried about what that meant.

Yasu found that when he had been reflecting, he had made himself run slightly late to leave and he might get to class late. So to make up for it, he had fast walked to the gates. Now, checking the time again, he could tell that his haste had made him too early. With a small grimace at the idea of being one of the first in the room and sitting alone while others laughed and shared jokes about their vacation, he scanned the entrance. Yasu quickly spotted Gratia Amamiya leaning against one of the nearby buildings.

After a quick glance at the gate, Yasubi walked over. "Hey, Amamiya." His voice was naturally quiet. It would often get overpowered by other sounds and be heard only as small sounds rather than words. Now was one of those times, due to the raucous students passing. "H-Hey..." Yasu tried again a little louder, projecting the sound rather than shouting. As he spoke he fidgeted with his hands, pulling at his nails. "How are you this morning?"
