Return of the Riders - HTTYD - Accepting

Postby Dracowolf » Fri Oct 25, 2019 11:43 am

There are legends of dragons that have been passed around for many generations. A few that travel talk about how there once were those who would ride dragons, but these ultimately are just stories it seems as if they were for so long ago.

The Barbaric Archipelago have been in what feels like a time capsule for several hundred years. While some do advance a little bit with technology such as those of the Hairy Hooligans who thrive on New Berk. Then there are the Meatheads who stick to their traditions, the warriors from the Mongrels that favor the best, Thunderhead who are skilled at ships, all that have survived for those years. Then there are newer tribes like the less spoken Boulderdash Tribe, who are skilled miners that stick to themselves. The Scavengers who are little more than mercenaries with a single leader who takes a cut of their profit. Finally there is the newest tribe: The Firebrand Tribe. The members of this tribe like most newer ones stick to themselves but it is said that they have advancements that would rival those of New Berk, if not outshine them. Their leader has refused to speak with anyone and they tend to be very hostile to anyone who comes near.

As the newer tribes become more aggressive it became important for older tribes to create new alliances and honour those alliances. One such way was during an announcement between the Hairy Hooligans, the Meatheads, the Mongrels and Thunderhead tribes that they would all meet together and send a team of teenagers and young adults out on a rite of passage in a show of unity. They were to sail out for two days to a distant island on their map, and return with a prize.

It seems things are not going as planned though.

As mentioned not much has really changed in the world of HTTYD since the dragons left, rather people just more forgot they were real. Most evidence has been destroyed or lost over the years. While New Berk would have some advancement thanks to those in their past like Hiccup, they are certainly not that far ahead of others, they’re not at the point of powering their homes and losing their dragons all those years ago damages their progress for a while. So, really, don’t expect to have something far more impressive than what was shown in the movies and shows.

Magic does exist in the world, but most people can’t tap into it, it’s more objects powered by an unknown force. Simply put: if dragons exist, so does magic. These items are better described as being from a past civilization that is lost.

Your character(s) may come from one of the 4 tribes, unless you have a story that fits the world. (Note that while the names were pulled from HHTYD lore, I will be altering their islands and what they’re like as hundreds of years have passed)
Hairy Hooligans - The Berk tribe - Skilled builders and blacksmiths. They rely on fishing and farming, as well as trading weapons they make. Those from the tribe tend to have a good balance of skills but don’t necessarily always excel at one in particular. The Hairy Hooligans still answer to a Chief.

Meatheads - Very much similar to those from Berk, they have more available farmland and produce items out of clay, they also have an impressive quarry along with tar pits. This makes the tribe better at trading raw materials. Many merchants visit the Meatheads for the natural resources. Most from this island can identify plants and types of stone well. Like Berk the Meatheads answer to a Chief.

The Mongrels - Fighters by nature, the Mongrels were nearly wiped out before but are doing better now. Rather than a chief they answer to a King or Queen. They believe in the strongest and welcome outsiders who wish to learn to fight and join them. Although characterized as brutes, they are actually very smart. They are skilled fighters, hunters and value skilled tacticians. They tend not to trade much but they do know how to make alliances with other tribes, knowing that even with their strength they need friends.

Thunderhead - Fantastic sailors, while they survive on fish like many other tribes, those of the Thunderhead also will hunt for larger sea creatures for resources. Their favored weapons tend to be harpoons and they feel most at home on a ship. Occasionally they make trades with merchants by offering them escorts. Their leader was once known as a Chief but in the more recent years they refer to them as the Admiral.

Characters must be over the age of 16, but closer to 18 or a little older are preferred as it is a rite of passage.

You can have the child of one of the leaders.

There are a few openings to play villains. Applications for villains should be sent via PM

Not Allowed Dragons:
No Alphas (Red/Green Deaths, Bewilderbeasts)
Nightfury
Deathgripper
Light Fury
Night Lights
Catastrophic Quaken
Screaming Death

If your dragon is overpowered, which some breeds are, then please add a weakness to make the manageable. If you’re not sure just ask.

You will not start with your dragon, in fact dragons will start out as NPCs as they will be wild.

Rules

Postby Dracowolf » Fri Oct 25, 2019 11:47 am

General Rules
1. Please remember site rules, review them if you need to.
2. Do not god mode or power play.
3. Use logic, seasoned warriors do not lose to apprentices or even struggle.
4. I except grammar to be at least decent. Spelling should be good but everyone makes mistakes. Many use a phone/tablet so autocorrect is expected to occasionally happen.
5. I expect you to give people something to work with. I will not enforce a minimum or maximum length, everyone has different muse levels on different days.
6. I do allow a relaxed pace for replies. Real life comes before RP life.
7. Take OOC and characters to the discussion thread. Which is this link.
8. If you’re going to kill someone or seriously injure them please go talk to the owner of the character about it
9. You can have all the drama and side plots you want but do not let them take away from the main plot. Your romance is not more important than an evil creature running trying to kill everyone.
10. Coding wise, I do not seek out the prettiest post. I often reply on my phone and thus constant coding is hard for me. If you want to code it up go for it. But please do not use bright colours or light greys for font with tiny sizes. Coding should not make it difficult to read no matter the screen size.
11. I know it can be an unpopular opinion but this RP should be written in third person not first. It is very disorienting to go from reading a post in first person to reading one in third. It just makes things clearer if everyone is writing in third, so we know about the characters.

Character Rules
You can make and use your own form.
I expect most to stick to HTTYD dragons (From books, movies, or shows) though if you think you can make a balanced one that is related to one that exists, PM me details.
Characters should be over 16, infact closer to 18-23 is preferred.
I will never accept “Will RP out” or “It’s a secret” type descriptions for anything in a character form.
