As the feast started, Zig noticed the girl sat next to him turning towards him to talk. He smiled, a little shyly in response. "Yeah. Though I prefer Zig." he glanced towards the teacher's table. "And that lady with the hat is Professor McGonagall. She's the Transfiguration professor and an excellent teacher." Zig pointed out.

Cato kept to himself, while getting a little food from the feast to eat, listening to the conversation of the other Slytherins around him. He didn't really want to join in, but he was okay with listening.

Venelope silently ate, watching the others in the great hall by glances- she was most unfortunate to have sat three seats away from Draco Malfoy and was now being subjected to his rants. Her mismatched eyes roved over the house tables, observing this new scenery. She just hoped nobody would try to strike up a conversation with her.

"Huh, nice to meet you Zig." Yay! New friend! Azula cheered mentally before the rest of his statement registered. "Wait, what's transfiguration?" she blurted before registering. "It's not that I'm stupid or anything. I'm just kinda new to this whole magic thing."

"Nice to meet you as well." Zig replied, then was surprised when Azula asked more about Transfiguration, though he guessed that she must be a Muggle-Born. "Transfiguration is essentially turning an object into another object." Zig explained, "I have three older siblings, all in different Houses. Since we're First Years, we'll just be starting with turning a matchstick into a needle - that's what they told me."


Cato was sat diagonally from Draco Malfoy - as a result, most of the conversations he was listening to was mostly Draco's tales and stories. Cato rolled his eyes a little to himself. He was pretty sure some of the stories were fake. He glanced at the other Slytherin First Year students, just to take a look at them, and see who else was there.

"That sounds cool. What other sorts of magic are there? Are the magic words? Like abracadabra! That's one that gets used a lot with magicians right?" Azula bounced slightly as she spoke, waving her hands about. "It's just all so cool! There's a whole other world I never knew about and I get to be part of it."
