Wars across the world have all stopped by this point, and once-violent happenings have grown to a peaceful quiet. America has next to no worries, what with the military, navy and the like out of danger. Oil is next to useless, as 99.4% of cars run on solar, hyroelctric and/or wind energy, and economies are in a reletively calm state. Pretty much a hippy's vision of a perfect world.

2030
As much as I hate to report this, the United States has had an upheaval of foregn viruses, amongst ones already known. Epidemiologists and pathologists have suggested an evolved form of smallpox, but most citizens refuse to believe this.

2033
About two thirds of the American population has either been infected or died from this disease, which has in fact been confirmed as a higher form of smallpox, a disease most thought to have died out completely. Think of it as a combination of Smallpox, Ebola, SARS and Mlaria, all wrapped into one extremely deadly package.

2035
The disease, now named SC-30, has wiped out nearly fifty countries in two years. Africa is totally ridden of human life, as well as New Zealand and Japan. The current population in the USA is 10,534 and dropping rapidly. Every citizen who wishes to stay alive for as long as possible has been moved to a small town in Tennessee, where there are layers of steel barricades to keep the infected out. Others, the more adventurous, (I call them lunatics) choose to pass in and out of Atwood to kill off the 'zombies.'

About SC-30

This virus is highly contagious and extremely lethal, now that it has evolved. Doctors have tried countless times to come up with a vaccine for SC-30, but none have succeeded. Symptoms include hemorrhaging, kidney failure, discoloration of the skin, loss of speech, (causing the victims to only moan, screech and grumble, depending on the condition of vocal chords) cannibalistic appetite and open gashes over randomized points of body. Most have started to call victims zombies.

Zombies can be killed with a bullet to the skull, (if it damages the brain) extreme loss of blood, decapitation or the breaking of the jugular.

It's 2040, and most of the human race has either died from overall poor health or is infected with this zombifying disease SC-30. Whoever is left has been herded to the States, in a small town of Atwood, Tennessee. There are exactly 427 beings that can still be considered human. In this role play, you can either be:
A) a 'citizen' of Atwood
B) a loner, aka a zombie hunter
C) a cross between the two,
still a citizen but killing anyway.
{we call these the 'hunters'}

Adalyn was just a normal High school student when this all started. She had been in Geometry and they'd announced the Gym coach had gone cannibalistic and was attacking people left and right. Adalyn, Who'd seen too many horror movies to believe he was a Cannibal, knew better. She made it out of the school and back home, which is where she had plenty of weapons. Her father, before he died in a shooting at the store, was a 'redneck' kind of guy. Therefore, he hunted animals and taught her how to shoot a gun.
Adalyn has been pretty alone through the entire thing, so far.
