Rukia paused, then nodded."all the time. though its strange. In fact, i remeber my mother and father telling me how, none of the other elements could live without one."she leaned against therock and continued thoughtfully."they said that in the beginning, earth was created for the creatures of the world. Though they and the land itself could not live, or breathe. Then the almighty created air, to give life to th others. Over time this worked out well, but mind you the days were terribly dry. And at that time, disease was flowing through the trees. The air and the earth dragons complained about this to the alimighty, and so he thought for a while. He finally created fire, to burn away the infected trees, and give life to new ones from the ashes it created. But fire dragons were especialy aggressive and power hungry. Going out of control and burning all who oposed them. others did not like the heat, they loved it. they reined suppreme for a long time. for fire got its life from both the earth and the air. Once again the dragons came to the almighty for help. they told him of how the fire was destroying there homes, hurting there families and parching their throats with the heat they released to the air. they begged him to take fire away, but he refused. Instead he created water. It brought life to the land, letting energy flow through the earth, and bring moisture to the air. Fire did not like this. they tried time and time again to bring water down, but water always provailed. forever keeping fire in check, so that it will not go overboard again. As time went on,all were happy. but there was always a dull gray to the sky, and soon the trees and plants began to wither. For the thirs time, the dragons complained to their almighty. He sighed and grought Light to the world. It illuminated the sky, rimming the trees."she smiled, taking a breath."to make things a bit shorter, A while passed and the sun would come to hurt there eyes, and they found it hard to rest...coming increasingly tired. th almighty sa w this, and then created darkness. It allowed the beings of the world to sleep, to rest and regain energy. having enough energy for the next day. therefore. one cannot live, without the other."

Ray's turquoise eyes widened as he listened, nodding occasionally, and then turned to face Rukia. "Your right....no other element can live without the other, and if one is gone, then the rest falls...we all depend on each other, yet, Fire and Water, Light and Dark, Earth and Air, they all are enemies of design." He sighed softly, pondering this. He remembered how he had first met Rukia, when Abaya attacked his friend. He hadn't even known the Darkness dragon, but he had rushed to help her, keeping Abaya from hurting the girl furthur. "I wonder why I helped you, not that I regret it at all, in fact, I'm happy that I did it...but I wasn't really thinking, or I just didn't know what I was thinking at that time." He cocked his head, pondering this.

Rukia shrugged."because it is instinctive."she replied simply, looking over at Ray now with her bright green eyes."I may be of different element, but im still a dragon like you."she grinned."and, your a good person." she paused now, thinking."besides, that was what our ancestors didnt understand. they all tried to kill off the other populaton. too arrogant to realize it would mean their own deaths as well."she shook her head."its a pity really."

Ray nodded, his turquiose eyes looking over at Rukia. "I've always wondered...about life and death, and how it would feel to die...and what would happen afterwards." He shrugged, looking back over at the crystals. "And about natrual wonders, and how humans so easily destroy them."

Rukia sighed and nodded."yeah. I dont understand why humans do such things...and find no guilt in doing so...."

Ray nodded in agreement, his gaze returning to Rukia. He sat there, his turquiose eyes studing her.

Rukia sat there for a while. silent. She felt safe here, and happy. Calm in a way. she finally glanced up to see ray looking at her."Are you afriad, of the dark, as i am of water?"she asked softly, curious.
