Crona looked away and sighed. He turned back to Maka, "Do you want to have a picnic tomorrow?"

Maka blushed. "S-sure Crona." She smiled up at him.

Kid curled his lip. "So much emotion. Its a wonder I didn't come out sooner." He grinned. "And I'm continually amazed at all of the emotions in this school. Can't you feel Patti's attraction to Black*Star? I certainly can. Kuraes attachment to coverup me, Crona and Maka..."

Crona smiled and nodded, "I-I'm happy you said sure. "

Maka smiled and hugged him. She let go, and turned over to Kid. "I underestimated true shinigamis. I never felt your fathers soul. So I never knew what one really looked like. I assumed they were like your coverup one. But I see now." She studied the large red orb protecting Kid. She whispered to Crona, "I don't trust him, and I don't have Soul here to fight if he makes a move. You'll have to protect me."

Kid simply laughed.

Kid had sat down in the bench, his dull eyes focused on the mirror. She realized the mirror image was his true self, with the bright, mad eyes.

Kid sighed. "I didn't think power meant pushing people away."
Mirror Kid groaned. "If I could, I'd come out there and punch you square in the face. Obviously power means that! You're stupid. I'm glad the real you is actually much smarter."
Kid looked down. "I know. I'm sorry."
"Hmph. You should be."

I bet that's the one thing they have in common. That obsession." She wanted to go walk over to Kid, but didn't. "He'll be gone soon. The Kid we know. We have to do something."
