"Dragons are pretty cool," Nemo agreed, "Too bad I can't turn into one. That would be far more useful than anything I've managed so far." The thing about shapeshifting was that it took practice, and it took a lot of energy to sustain larger animals. She hoped that she would be able to practice here, and learn how to change into new animals.
When Ezekiel shared his own powers, Nemo tilted her head thoughtfully. "That's cool! How does the paralysis work? Is it a batrachotoxin, like a poison dart frog? Or does it somehow block signals sent through the nervous system?" Both of his powers sounded really neat, and definitely more useful in, say, a battle situation than hers. The ability to take out enemies with a simple touch was definitely valuable. It also explained the gloves in August. She appreciated the fact that he took that precaution. "Telekinesis must be pretty convenient. How strong is it?" Being the big Star Wars fan she was, she had always wished for the ability to 'use the Force' which she imagined must be similar to telekinesis. Realizing she was asking a lot of questions, and potenitally making Ezekiel uncomfortable, Nemo backtracked a little, her anxiety popping up again. "Oh, sorry, you don't have to answer any of those if you don't want to. I tend to get overly curious."

"Goodbye, Mijo. Enjoy school, become a genius like your mother."
"Stop it," Josué's mother sent a harmless glare towards her husband, "a zoologist is not a genius."
"Close enough," he replied, giving her a quick kiss on the head.
Josué smiled. He was going to miss his family for these next few months. "Bye, Papá," he said, stepping forward to embrace his father. "Mamá." He gave her a hug as well.
"Be good. Make friends, have fun, and don't forget your Español."
He laughed. "Of course not. Even if no one here speaks it, I'll have Guía to talk to."
"Te quiero, Mijo. And you," she turned to the dog, who was sitting beside Josué, tail thumping in the grass, "you take care of my boy."
Thump. Thump. Thump.
"Hmm. Esperanza, are you going to say goodbye to your brother?"
The little girl in question, just 7 years old, looked up when her mother spoke, and then looked at Josué. She lifted her hands out in front of her and stared at them really hard, crossing her eyes and holding her breath. A little blue flower formed in her hands, starting off small and then growing to the size of a half dollar coin. "Here," she said, holding it up.
"What did you make?" Josué asked.
"A flower," the girl replied proudly, grinning.
The teen knelt down so she could stick it in his hair, which she did, tucking it next to his ear. Then, she hugged him, and he returned the hug. "Bye. I'll be home in a few months."
"Bye."
With goodbyes exchanged, the family returned to their car. They drove away, waving, and Josué waved back until he couldn't 'see' them anymore.
"Alright, Guía, where should we explore?" He looked down at his dog, who stood and shook herself in reply.
The teen decided to just walk around campus. It was a nice day out, and it was good for Guía to be outdoors. He let her sniff around, holding her leash loosely instead of the harness. After about 30 minutes of roaming they came to a tree, and Josué noticed that someone was sitting under it. "Hi," he said, pausing a few feet away, "mind if I join you over here?" He gave an easy smile, and hoped that the stranger was friendly.
