He huffed, crossing his arms. "And just when I thought I could get rid of you..." He rolled his eyes playfully before dropping the act. "I suppose I would, at least until you can fend for yourself... Then you could leave me."

"What if I don't want to?" she said sweetly.

Alex looked down at her, confused. "Why would you want to stay?" He asked, his fingers tangling in her hair absentmindedly as he thought.

"Umm...because...maybe I want to." she lied, hoping he bought it.

"And why would you want to?" He asked, looking down.

"Because..." she started, but she couldn't finish. She was thinking of a good lie to tell him.

His eyes saddened slightly. "Because?" He asked, hoping she wouldn't keep secrets from him.
