Dragoness wrote:Maeve worked deftly. "I hold no grudge. My father was, in his time, an out cast from the Seelie court." She smiled grimly. Talking helped her hold of the change. "He was a child of summer and winter. His sire a Summer noble and his mother Lilith. Whom I'm sure you know." Maeve winced at the look of Irial's wound, it's edges were puckered and inflamed and it oozed an unsightly clear serum. She could tell there was lung damage too.
Her mind wandered back to her grandmother. Lilith the huntress and seductress of the Winter court. A notorious loose cannon but powerful and ancient and never challenged about her actions. She began to clean the wounds edges, it would hurt but she was careful so it wouldn't be as bad as it could be.
Her mind also drifted to her mother, Kate. Daughter of Shevon. The Werecats leader and guide. Shevon was a bitten Were born before the rise of the roman empire. And her daughter, Kate, was another loose gun and Shevon's enforcer sometimes. Maeve took after her mother. And that race. The Seelie court wanted to count them among there number but the Werecats argued that since there histories were older then that of either court they would not be part of either. They stood as the original shapeshifter but for the oldest dragon races.
Then something clicked in her mind, causing her to pause her work for a moment. The fox and bird qualities, the words 'my wild fae'. A smile crossed her face.
"I must say, many a creature have I treated and many more have I met but this is my first encounter with a Sionnach Enu. Such a high ranking one at that."
She said. Now finished cleaning the wound she stood from her crouch.
"I'm going to have to use a little of my power to close your lung and fix an artery bellow your heart that's been damaged."
Irial smirked. "So, you figured it out." Irial felt proud of her kin--whether Maeve didn't like to be considered "Sidhe" or not. But, there were no other Sionnach Euns right now, so she wasn't surprised Maeve had never seen one. In fact, Irial was the first one since... possibly... since before the Courts. There was a long, long time of displeasure and anxiety and her line was so barren. Only few were fertile, and only when their growth was suspended in their youth. Like Irial's and her mother. Most froze after It was not a thing you could inherit in birth, though one did have to be related to Irial's family, have her blood in their veins, to become one. You had to have certain... differences... when born into her line to become one. And once there was one, only that Sionnach Eun could grant the priviledge to another to become one. You would have to place a plea to the Old Ring, the ancestors in her line that had been there longer than time, and she would have to agree to it. Afterall, she was the Head of the line, and as such leader of the Old Ring. Her brother and sister had no say, though. They were not that old.
"Your grandmother is Lilith... she is one of my greatest allies and most trusted fae in My Winter Court." Lilith was one of her advisors... how wonderful. Maeve had good roots, she knew.
Lilith had always been her advisor... The guide to her Lucifer. Irial's title was Lucifer. Lucifer was the head of the Winter Court, as well as the Dark Court, and Unseelie Court. Though these courts, the darker half, had one singular ruler. The Lucifer.
Her opposite, Michael, was the ruler of Summer Court and Seelie Court... as well as the disputed "Light Court". Some foolish humans believed it was "Heaven", and there was a seperate ruler for it, God. But that was not so.
Irial had many names and titles, like this one and other times "Mab". "Irial" wasn't her real name either, though she adopted it as her own for the sake of those around her. No one would know it. Her brother, Fenrir, the wolf, had many names as well. Her sister, the bird and the embodiment of war, was often referred to as Morgan Le Fay. She got it from her stint in the human world all those years ago... Another title she has is The Morrígan.
Her brother was all wolf. Her sister all bird. They had no fox in them, and thus were not Sions, only family. Quite frequently they appeared in mythology and stories... Irial, on the other hand, did not. She resided in the darkest corners of those stories, never one in the forefront, never drawing attention to herself. Always silently watching over. As was the fate of Sions.
Gabriel, her right hand and the general of her fae as well as her most special person, was there next to her always. He reined in her wild fae and kept her sane. He kept eye on her troublesome sister Morgan, and had healthy rivalry with her brother Fen. He was a hellhound, but he could stay calm when needed. Lucifer's right hand always had the title Gabriel, but this one was the best of the best. Always there for her... This Gabriel was one of the ones she had tattooed ties to. The mark rested over the lower part of her left hip and bore the picture of lilies and vines, formed from dark, dark lines. It reached around her body to her back, covering her like a stretch of something protective and deadly. Though deceptively feminine and soft, it had it's ways to defend and fight. And it looked sick, as if it would turn and wither any second. Just like Gabriel's soul. [Irial knew Gabriel's true nature, and the soft disposition when not in harm... it was so different.] The tattoo looked like it could move... and it was a good thing Coney's personal glamour covered it from everyone, otherwise she would be in a bind if it was ever revealed. Even in the Fae's world, that was not normal.
When her people had their tattoos imprinted onto her body, they belonged to her. More so than ever before. They were hers and in return, she served them. She served them by ruling them, being their Lucifer. Being their "light-bearer". Being the lucem ferre. Providing for their lifestyles and allowing them into Her Court. Not all had their tattoos on her body, only those closest to her and those she could afford a tie to, but they all belonged strictly to her. Always.
It made it hard to give her job to someone else. No other Lucifer before her had had these tattoos done. Well... only one had. The previous one, the one she had replaced. And he had... he had her tattoo on him.
But it made dealing with Morga easier. She always strived for the throne, though she knew she couldn't have it. She also wanted the Sion powers... but Irial would always deny her, simply because they were of the opposite spectrum. Morgan would never be a Sionnach Eun. She would always be The Morrígan... but not only that.
Fenrir, on the other hand... He wanted the least to do with those powers as possible. She had offered them to him before, and he had declined. He knew they brought self-alienation and disaster. Mostly... he knew if he was an Eun, he would have the least amount of contact with his only favored family. He would not be able to deal with other Sions [Irial], so he would have to leave them behind. And he could never leave her. He was the "neutral" to Irial's peace and Morgan's war, but he could not do it.
Often times, Irial wondered if she should sever those ties. Morgan still came to her and followed her like one of her own should, but she also ignited resistence and inner war in Irial's Courts. Always tried to overturn her rule. The current Michael was indifferent to Irial, but he would always side with the War when there was a true chance for victory. The darker of the dark lived underneath his light, just like Irial's dark hide her sun.
It was a complicated life and if she ever had to explain it fully to someone... she knew she would have a hard time. She left things out easily and forgot to say so much.
(I'm sorry this is so late. I have Exams, I've been so busy. XD Oh. And I think a friend of mine might join... They might be "Gabriel", if I remember right. Not sure if they definitely will or not, though. :3 And I'm sorry this post is so jumpy. My original one was so much better, and flowed so nicely. I just tried to get all the information in there this time. Everytime I reread this, it looks so messy to me. ;A; I'm not happy with it. Lol. Too much... jumping. Man, I wish I had that original post. Meh.
EDIT: I am so lost on what's happening right now. XD Attempting to read through those... 20... pages? Aghk.)
