Megan shook her head, the pain slowly fading away. But she knew it would come back. It was a matter of minutes.

Alex sighed, glancing over at the jar on the table with her medicine. "You'll feel better soon." I hope

"What's going on...?" Megan mumbled, more to herself than Alex.

[Midnight Butterfly]

Alex shook his head hopelessly. "I wish I knew..." He mumbled. "I wish I could help you..." He sighed. "Where's a genie when you need one, eh?" He joked, trying to lighten the mood a little.

Megan made an attempt to laugh at the joke, but she didn't have enough energy to speak, not mentioning laughing. She waited impatiently for another wave of pain to flood her body, but it didn't come as soon as she expected it to. Nearly ten minutes later it hit her gently. It wasn't as strong as before, and Megan managed to hide the fact that it was actually there.

Alex smiled, seeing her at least attempt to laugh. It had been a while since her last attack of pain and he suspected it was because either she'd become better at hiding it or it had actually stopped. He started to draw patterns absentmindedly on her stomach.

Megan flinched slightly under his touch, smiling.
"Don't..." she whispered.

Alex pouted slightly, letting his hand flatten and drop onto her stomach gently. The bandages around his palm were starting to loosen slightly but he didn't notice nor mind.

Despite Megan's previous words, she soon fell asleep on Alex, her breathing finally steady.

Alex smiled as he noticed she'd fallen asleep. He sighed, relaxing against the wall and feeling glad that she was feeling calm enough to sleep.
