Another year had passed, and Atticus once again found himself standing at King’s Cross Station. The air was cool, showing the early signs of autumn. He was alone, as usual. His parents hadn’t seen him off since he was a first year. They were far too busy with their ministry duties. Atticus had grown used to the disappointment, and stopped being envious of those who’s parents had escorted them. The scarlet train blew its whistle, signaling that it was time for the students to board. The young Ravenclaw handed over his luggage and proceeded onto the train. It didn’t take long to locate an empty car, and he quickly claimed it for himself. Atticus chose the seat by the window, so that he could watch the scenery roll by during their long journey.

Remi King found himself drawn back to scarlet train. Hogwarts. The name echoed in his mind. This was where he was free to be himself. Scoping around, he saw most of the slytherin carts were already full. With a frown tugging at his lips, he meandered into Ravenclaw territory. He was met with friendly smiles. "Thanks." He said to the trolly lady before spotting the male brunette who settled alone. "Atticus?" He asked, dark brows raised. "I thought we were going to see each other this summer?" The question flashed across his gaze with hurt. "I really missed you."

Atticus looked up, eyes widening slightly. He hadn’t seen his friend all summer, despite their plans to meet up. Atticus’ grandmother had passed away at the beginning of summer, so he’d spent most of summer break with his relatives in Ireland. It was customary for the Lovecraft family to come together to mourn. Mourning typically lasted for at least a month, depending on who had died. Then the children of the diseased would spend another month helping the family adjust to the loss. “I apologize. Some family matters came up, and it was beyond my control.” Atticus replied, pausing before continuing. “I meant to write, but I could never find the time.”

Remi frowned softly. He found himself sitting beside the male brunette, pressing against his shoulders in a comforting manner. "Sorry for my hostility Atti, I,....I just missed you, you know?" The attractive male with the tanned skin cocked the ravenclaw a cocky smile. "I know you would have." Remi reached for Atticus' hand, intertwining his hands with the other house. It was a stark contrast of their skintone that made him fond of their affections for one another. "I'm glad to see your smiling though."

The Ravenclaw couldn’t help but blush. Atticus was used to being the flirt, and was still adjusting to being on the receiving end. He allowed Remi to take his hand, taking comfort in the physical contact. He rarely received physical affection at home, so touch was odd yet comforting to him. His free hand quickly covered his growing smile, and he glanced away. “You flatter me, Remi.” He mumbled. His blue eyes fixated on the floor as he tried to regain his composure. The two were an odd sight, especially to the first years peaking into their car. House rivalry had gotten even more intense after the second Wizarding War. Had Atticus been a Gryffindor, their relationship would have been blasphemous. Not that Atticus cared about that; he’d always found the fierce competition between the houses counterproductive.

Remi glanced out the window. Some steam flickered past the glass. The rolling meadows and icy blue streams flashed across his vision. Hickory brown eyes peeled back off of the scene to the compartment. Hogwarts was a fashion that never died. It was a place of splendid magic. "I know the war is over, but I can't help but feel like the magic lingers in the halls and where..." Remi's voice faded softly. The silence was appropriate for the topic. The slytherin wanted to mention the deaths, the murders, but there was no reason to ruin a new year with it. "I hope madison is doing alright." He commented once the gripping silence seemed to ease away as swiftly as the train curved along the steel tracks.
