Username: tomon
Character's Name: Xerxes Bridges
Gender: Male
Age: 16
DNA: brown tabby cat. though he looks like a normal person with a small cat tail, he has incredibale strength and flexibility. he can jump ten times as high as the average human and could land on his own two feet without getting injured. when he's angry, his pupils form into a diamond shape and his teeth change into fangs. Xerxes can see well in the darkness and purrs softly in his sleep. he also loves high places.
Appearance:http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss218/SarahRules17/special5610186.jpg
Personality: being a bit of a loner, he loves to be where the action is. he's very relaxed and known as the cool type, though their are times when he's just too confident with himself which could get him into a bit of trouble. his curiosity gets him into even more trouble putting him in such dangerous situations sometimes. xerxes also has a "i can do things myself" attitude, even when he can't do things himself, he doesn't like to admit it, just like how he doesn't like to admit that he's wrong when others are right.
History: born and raised in a mansion, xerxes had, what most kids would call, an awesome childhood. he had everything he always wanted, lots of toys and for every new toy that came out he'd be the first to own it. he had a dog and a cat, a large backyard with a swimming pool the size of a football field, and his very own play room and gym. though he has all of these stuff, xerxes had only a few friends that are at the same high class as he was, rich. he had his own private teacher, so he didn't need to go to a public school. still, their are times when he wondered what it was like to be a "normal kid". when he was 14 he started a big argument with his father, Xerxes never wanted to inherit the family business and doing so would mean more studying and less of a social life. the day that he had that big argument with his father, he snuck out of the mansion and ran far far away.
Other: he has a small locket that he keeps hidden in his pocket, he always brings it with him wherever he goes. in the locket is a small family picture of his mother, father, and him when he was 6 years old.

Gabriel sat in silence for a while, listening to the others talk. He shivered a little at the memory of the 'Congo incident' Sophie mentioned. That had been one of his worst training exercises Gabriel had been put in and it had left him with a lot of memories he'd rather forget. He began compulsively rubbing his left side, where a long jagged scar ran along the length of his ribcage. He felt no need to join in the conversation, having nothing useful to add, so instead listened to the others.

He blinked owlishly when the lights were switched on in the hallway, his eyes adjusting to the change in light far too slowly for his liking. He gave a quick glance to the cells beside him, Fredrick on one side, Sophie on the other, but basically ignored them. His attention was instead focused on the figure walking past each of the cells in turn. Gabriel assumed he had come to take Sophie for another "bath", a regular occurrence, but Fabian Kelly coming to do it was a little more surprising.

Watching with apparent disinterest as the Rhino/frog was removed from her cage and walked down the hallway, he returned the wave that was given to him and followed the pair's movement with his eyes until they were out of sight. He immediately returned his gaze to the door of his cell, as if glaring at it for long enough would cause it to spontaneously combust. No luck.

He still kept his hearing focused on the quiet conversations going on in cells further down the hall. He didn't expect to get any sleep while they were still going on so he figured he may as well listen in.

I am the sword in the darkness.
I am the watcher on the wall
I am the fire that burns against cold
The light that brings the dawn
The horn that wakes the sleepers
The shield that guards the realms of men
For this night, and all nights to come.

(Ok, so im finally finished. I will spell check it after I get back from church.)
Today is gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you shoulda, somehow, realized what you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now

Back beat, the word is on the street that the fire in your heart is out
I'm sure you've heard it all before but you never really had a doubt
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now

And all the roads we have to walk are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
But I don't know how

Because maybe
Your gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
Your my wonderwall

Through the window I see no star:
Something more near
Though deeper within darkness
Is entering the loneliness:

Cold, delicately as the dark snow,
A fox’s nose touches twig, leaf;

Two eyes serve a movement,
that now
And again now, and now, and now

Asha tilted her head, listening to Lumi and Suki talk about their experiments. Her hands were clasped over her knees, and she was sitting on the corner in her cell.

"There's really no point in talking about the hardships you have endured to come here, so just shape up and sit tight so we could actually rest before they could take another person to an experiment!!"

Asha snapped and then gasped as she realized what she had said and to who; a numb sense of horror spreading through her, wondering why she was so snappish. She was never like this before!

Did the scientists inject hormones in me too lately? Or perhaps I'm really turning into a sly, impatient fox?

"everyone here is in the same boat as you are. I'm so sorry I talked to you like this." Asha added, with a slightly gentle tone. She tried to forget running across a room with a 9/10 chance of getting stabbed. Timed. Trying to sniff out drugs. Timed. Leaping upon a house to save a ragdoll. As if I'm some kind of smeller or leaper. I'm nothing!

"I'm sorry, but just remember how lucky you are if today wasn't experiment day. Well, you'd never know. This is your fate, you'll have to accept it."

Crossing her arms over her knees again, she started to rock back and forth, her back hitting the wall each time, actually releasing some emotion. As If I could hit emotion away. She was startinng to slam herself into the wall harder and harder, trying to release pressure. With a glassy-eyed gaze; her dark brown eyes were fixed on the wall right in front of her.

I'm going mad. I just snapped at a possible new friend who probably hates me right now, and we're probably going to do another horrifying thing today. Well, if this was the path to insanity, at least I could always take the bus to get there faster..

(Will edit after I come home from art class. Oh, the bold is what Asha is saying, and the italics is what she is thinking about. Bye, guys. Have fun. ^^ Sorry, Asha's in a mood swing right now, so... :) )

One of the newbies was talking with some of the older ones it appeared. Black eyes flicked towards the lights that came on, and watched Sophie leaving without another thought, never once did it enter his mind that this was an odd occurence and that indeed the other doctors could be away working on something that would affect their lives, to say the least. Once again all Fredrick saw was the complaining and the ignorance of the newer ones, for almost everyone was new to him unless he remembered them from when he had first arrived.

"They are not stupid. They do not underestimate us on purpose. They base your expectations off of your human state and mix the results with the animal's characteristics and how it would affect you. This occasionally is wrong, which is why they might think you're stupid when you're not. If you believe they're retarded and act on it, you will not last long."

He spoke from experience, and it could be heard from the low-pitched voice he spoke with and the slight anger that could easily be mistaken for irritation if not listened to closely. And so with that he settled down once more, for it appeared he had straightened his posture during that speech, and for a moment glanced in the direction of Gabriel, the rabbit.

"Silent, are we? What's the matter, cat got your tongue?"

It was a pun, a stupid one at that. The fact that Fredrick was talking at all was quite surprising though, especially now. Before, all he did was talk; talking was his skill, above everything else. Less than a year after he arrived, he realized that it was not necessary considering his line of work. No, he had lost the only think he was good at in the past, yet why did that mean he had the sudden urge to speak out now? It made Fredrick's brow furrow slightly, confusion scenting the air around him before he turned away to look at the door down the end of the hall.

.:.:.

Eyebrow slightly raised, Fabian moved to a table, under which the hose lay, all the while remembering himself with the routine he'd seen his coworkers do oh so many times. For them there was not a second thought as to what they were doing, yet Fabian couldn't help but stare into the tame eyes after the nozzle was in his hand and his torso turned around to face the creature again. Sophie Hare, the oldest one here, the girl that had sold herself for her family's well-being. Fabian recalled the day that he had interviewed her, knowing that the family was having financial issues as well as having reports from the school of her temperament. It was all truly random that his team had picked her over someone else, yet she was indeed special compared to the others; harboring two DNAs was rare, and extended their life span by a great deal for they would be harder to defeat out in the real world. The reason for her having been given those two DNAs was a mystery to himself though, but back to the matter at hand, Fabian twisted at the nozzle and slowly the water started to blow through his fingers.

Normally they'd have to give her a true 'bath' once a week, one that consisted of a sort of antibiotic against the poison so that if something was missed during these sessions, it wouldn't fester and be harder to get rid of later. These 'sessions' were merely just using the water-pressure hose to wash off most of it off, for the pressure hose did close to nothing by itself. The latch on the nozzle was twisted a bit more before Fabian found the correct strength, and then moved closer to aim it at Sophie. Why had she done it? Couldn't she find a different way? What gave him the idea to attempt to approach someone older than their normal age range? All of these questions circled in his head while he moved the hose to get all of her limbs, and then he started walking around her to make sure he got her back as well.

The whole process only took a minute, and then Kelley switched it off and grabbed a towel off of the table and threw it towards her. Once she was done there were clothes as well on the same surface, all neatly folded in a pile that contained dozens of similar outfits. Fabian grabbed a pile near the front and held it quietly as he waited for Sophie to finish.

The dull thud woke Marina up, and she sat up straight in bed. Squinting her eyes against the darkness, she could make out figures moving in the hallway and the cells beyond. Someone was slamming into a wall repeatedly, and Marina sighed, worried. She was still too sleepy to think straight, but she knew that now that she was awake, she wouldn't get back to sleep again. Slowly, she slipped the light blanket off of her body and watched in admiration as her scales shone dully in the dim light. I'm gorgeous, she thought sarcastically with a wry smile, then reached out. Her fingers grasped the armrest of her wheelchair and rolled it closer to the bed, where she could successfully transfer herself between the two.

Marina wasn't really crippled. She couldn't walk, of course, but that didn't mean that she couldn't use her tail at all. If she fell out of her wheelchair, she could easily scramble back in. She could even lean against the wall, standing on her tail like a normal person would, although she had to be careful or she'd fall down. Now, though, she just settled back and draped the blanket over her tail, opening a water bottle she kept in a pocket on the chair. With a satisfied sigh, she poured water over the blanket, grinning as it soaked through the thin cloth and instantly soothed the dull ache that had been in her. A little more she poured on her face to wake her up more thoroughly, and she could finally blink her wide eyes open all the way, glancing around at the moving figures in the cells around her.

"Hello?" she called out, not quite yelling in case some people were still asleep. "I heard someone hitting the wall... are you all right?" Still unsure, she wheeled herself forward until her tail was pressed up against the clear wall. "Who all's awake?" she asked with a hint of Southern drawl. Waiting for an answer, Marina began to fidget, first tightening the band of cloth below her ribs that held her fins close to her body, then tugging habitually at the fin on her left forearm.

Asha continued to smash herself against the wall, gasping as the oxygen wheezed up her at each collision. Her back was growing fairly hot now from the energy transfer, and as she kept at it, it did little to relieve her now-growing pain, but at least some of her temper had faded. Perking her ears as she heard another person speak, Asha shuffled her heels against the floor and let her hands go limp. Fredrick, it seems. Realizing how logic his words were, yet at the same time so incongruous, Asha stopped herself and leaned against her wall once more. She was growing quite tired now, and was sure all the others’ ears were growing tired from the rhythmic banging. She tried to block out the noises around her, but failed anyhow.

"Hello? I heard someone hitting the wall... are you all right?"

“No one here is.”

Asha replied with a nonchalant shrug, her bright red ears twitching as she realized that she must have woken the girl up from all her smashing. “Sorry I woke you up, though.” She added apologetically as she rested her face in her hands and started to knead her temples. I’ll stop so that no one else gets woken up. The last part of her sentence was slightly muffled; her voice was distorted so that it didn’t sound like her at all.

Gabriel scowled, giving Fredrick a withering look through the see-through wall separating their cells.

"Not quite." he said, the Irish lilt obvious in his voice "But what's the point in talking if I've got nothing to say?"

He returned his head to its resting place against the wall and tuned in to the other prisoner's conversation again. It seemed that basically all of them were awake now. Interesting.

He once again turned his eyes to the occupant of the cell beside him. Gabriel was one of the earlier experiments, one of the earliest still alive anyway. Fredrick had been here for four months or so before he had arrived. He'd gotten to know a few things about the snake, as much as you could learn from the other side of a cell wall anyway. Fredrick had been more of a talker when Gabriel had first arrived, but that part of his personality had slowly faded away over time. It's not like there was much to talk about anymore.

"Didn't think you were much of a conversationalist yourself" the jack-rabbit hybrid remarked, once again staring at the door of his cell.

Fredrick gave now a second thought to the stopping of the rhythmic sound; everyone was angry near the beginning. Frustration was one of the first emotions they learned to truly feel here. It all passed, and he hoped that the girl would not start up again very soon. The vibrating, as with Sophie's banging, shivered through his spine.

Then Gabriel's words sunk in, and he paused for a moment at a lack of words. He did indeed think of himself as once being the conversationalist of the party, or he had been before. Now he was something different, or so he thought. All the others had abilities that were useful for finding themselves near the company they were sent out to eliminate, for jumping and barging through walls were all good for that purpose. Fredrick's own purpose was that of the assassin and the fighter; Mambas were so quick at killing their prey that they could even hunt in the daytime, something most snakes were not capable of. Their venom was lethal, and due to Fredrick's size he had more of it and thus it killed more swiftly than the norm. Heck, if he had been a parrot at least he could still boast having the one ability he used to pride himself on.

"I have an excuse. Rabbits are supposed to travel in herds... or something."

Herds was the only word that came to mind, for the snake had no idea of what groups of rabbits traveled in, or even if the species Gabriel was given followed that same rule. Either way, Fredrick assumed he got his point across and continued to stare in the same general direction, mouth slightly agape.

"Asha, it's alright. I figured if we looked at previous tests and trial, it might help us prepare, atleast mentally, for whatever is coming next." Suki said, her tone concerned as she heard the girl banging herself against the wall. She was relieved when the sound stopped as someone else spoke up. It was so strange having so many people around after her last week being all alone, especially since everything you said to one person was open for everyone to hear.
Despite all the tensions in the room, Fredrick's 'Rabbits are supposed to travel in Herds' comment made Suki laugh. She had been listening, and that had nothing to do with their conversation so far, and just the way he had said it she found hilarious.
