~Piper Parker~

The man was crouched before her, gasping in pain. Piper's whip was held tightly, she was hoping that he would just give up; Piper did not particularly enjoy taking the law into her own hands. His eyes darted to the gun she had knocked out of her hand and he lunged for it; and so did she. Her whip raised as she jumped forward, but her foot never hit the ground. In an instant, she was falling. They sky falling away from her as she fell through the portal. She spun, trying to make sense of the colors; then, tying her whip to her belt in a way she hoped would keep the razors from sinking into her. She could not risk having only one arm as she fell.
And then, she was falling away from the sky again. She swung herself around and saw the ground approaching. Piper considered her options in flashes, A flight suit? not enough time to make. A lasso? The wall she was falling next to had nothing to hook onto- Of course! The wall. She wriggled her fingers out of her gloves and through the holes cut out on the wrists, freeing her fingers. She angled herself to the wall and began to slide against the glass. Her fingers splayed and she could only focus on trying to stick. After about 15 feet, her fall stopped and she was clinging to the wall, breath coming out in small gasps. If she didn't have the layers of fabric and gas mask on, she would surely be hyperventilating. She stretched out as she looked around. Where was she. The colors were so different from the muted browns and the bright greens of nature overtaking the ruins back home. Their were bright flashing reds and yellows that she had only seen before in sunsets. Cars sped below her, but they shone like glass and were sleek, nothing like the ruined shells she was used to seeing abandoned in the streets. She wasn't home. It had to be the distant future, a very distant future.
Once she got her bearings, Piper quickly crawled her way down the side of the building and unsteadily got to her feet on the uncracked pavement someone looked at her and muttered something angrily. It took many tries to get people's attention. She kept waving at them but they all seemed to be focused on the small devices in their hands; items she had never seen before. Finally someone looked up at her and she tapped a finger against her wrist. "Time?"
The woman showed Piper the time on the hand-sized device she held and Piper balked. 2019? The same day? It couldn't be. "2-0-1-9?" She showed with her fingers, the way she shrugged showed that it was a question.
"Yes, It's not 2018 anymore. You lose your calendar or something?" The lady asked as she walked away.
Piper stood in astonishment for a moment, this wasn't the future. She wriggled her fingers back into her gloves and started to pick the razor blades from her whip, putting them into the pouch on her belt. She was used to just leaving the thick webs lying around, but the world was so shockingly clean she couldn't bring herself to. When she saw someone tossing a coke bottle into the trash, she followed suit. A thought came into her mind: she needed to find a way back home- but did she? This place looked quite peaceful. It had been two minutes and she hadn't been jumped by some bloke with a gun. There were certainly more people alive. But she was still in culture shock and, after turning a corner, she found herself hopelessly lost.
