Saying Fhyrion wasn't a morning person was generous under normal circumstances, but he was certainly not a "morning after not sleeping at all the night before" person. He dragged one hand down his face as he cradled the egg in his other arm, deciding he may as well get something to eat since the festival was going to make it impossible to get any sleep now unless he was willing to travel. Which he wasn't, in no small part due to the reason he hadn't slept--he was here on work but his employer hadn't showed at the meeting spot. He entered the Olivine Cafe and was led to a table quickly, grateful that it was quiet so early in the morning. Late in the morning? Sailors would have already eaten and returned to their ships but most of the locals were probably still in bed. He sat the egg in his lap and drummed his fingers against the table lightly as he looked over the menu.

"I'm almost at Olivine City, I should be getting there in time for the festival." Harmony held her phone to her ear as she waved to one of the farmers at Moomoo Farm, a gesture mirrored by her Midnight Lycanroc, Oda. "I'll be fine, you can tell everyone to stop worrying Uncle Leon. I know that won't stop them but tell them anyway!" She fidgeted to keep her bag in place and the egg balanced in the crook of her arm as she walked down Route 39 towards Olivine City. "I'll call you guys later tonight, okay? And yes, if anything comes up. Love you all too, bye!" She hung up, immediately groaning and throwing her head back dramatically. She put her phone in her pocket and carried the egg more comfortably with both arms. "I get why they worry but they can be such nags." Oda only shrugged next to her as they walked.

daniel jerked awake with a start to the feeling of something large and damp on his face. sitting upright and blinking quickly, he took in the amphibious form of hopscotch, his politoed, as he scrambled off daniel's head. hopscotch tilted his head to the side. "politoed!" the pokémon croaked, standing amiably in front of him as daniel came to his bearings, remembering where he was- a small, somewhat cosy alleyway in olivine city, under a blanket and wrapped in a sleeping bag. of course- the spring festival. he reached down to his bag- stuffed safely by his toes- and grabbed his phone, gently adjusting the positions of his 4 full pokeballs. he had no idea of what the science was behind them, nor was he sure how they worked, but he assumed his other pokemon would be asleep by now and didn't want to wake them up, not knowing if they could feel anything from inside them.

quickly swiping the code on his lock screen; a sunny image of him ( aged around 12 ) with a poliwag - a younger version of hopscotch- on his shoulder as he stood knee-deep in a pond. he glanced at the phone's clock. 7:00 exactly; the festival would be starting in a few minutes. "thanks for waking me up, hopscotch!" he grinned at his pokemon- so it hadn't been a random act of annoyance after all. rolling up his kit and putting it and his phone in his bag, he stepped out into the glorious morning sunshine, blinking at the few sunburnt men dotted around as they set up the stalls and games of the festival. letting hopscotch get a free ride perched on top of his backpack, daniel set out.

even though he had been going there every year with his family for as long as he could remember, the spring festival always surprised him with just how fun and brilliant it was- and anyway, it was his first time going to it alone. daniel breathed in the warm, slightly damp spring air and the familiar smell of the festival happily- this was the life. quickly reaching into the pocket of his dirty jeans, he counted out his spare change- enough for a quick coffee. darting into the olivine cafe, he quickly plonked down on a seat and heaved hopscotch onto the one opposite, kicking his backpack roughly under the table as he peered at the menu, glancing around the room at the same time.

the cafe was oddly quiet for once- only one other person, a brown-haired, dark-skinned man who didn't much look like he wanted to be disturbed- but daniel wasn't too good at taking hints. leaning back in his chair, he called over "hey, are you going to the festival too?"

AJ awoke to Noctali smacking her in the face with her tail. She groaned, swatting the Shiny Umbreon away as she blinked open her eyes to stare at the inside of her small tent. She felt a rumbling beneath her and moved her hand to scratch Watson's massive head. As per usual while traveling, Watson had wrapped himself around his trainer, just barely fitting into the tent.
"Alright, I guess it's time we get going," AJ sighed. She stretched, avoiding hitting Noctali or Watson in the face, and then crawled out of her tent. Once she was out, Noctali bounded after her so that Watson could carefully crawl out. Once he was free, he stood up to his full massive height and shook out his fur. AJ reached back into the tent for her bag, bringing out her team's balls and releasing them so that they could stretch their legs. When they stayed in hotels, she could have them all out at night, but she didn't have enough room in her tent for that. She really had to invest in a larger tent.
She began taking her current model down, removing the pegs and poles first. Takedown was easy, which is why she liked her small tent. Still, she would be willing to buy one that took longer to set up and takedown if it made her team happy. She'd do anything for them.
She glanced up from her task as she heard Kitsune, her Alolan Vulpix, yipping. "Vul! Vul!"
Kitsune had apparently found a traveler passing by and bounded up to them, her tails wagging furiously in excitement. AJ sighed; if only she had that excitement around new people. She finished stowing away her tent before standing and making her way over to Kitsune and the stranger.
"Sorry about her; she gets a little excited when she sees new people."

Kodii Venero :: 21 :: Olivine City {Pokemon Center} :: Open
The Pokemon Center had been packed since last night. Due to it, and how late he'd wandered into town, Kodii had ended up just napping in a corner of the main lounge for a few hours. Not before being roped into a few card games with some of the other trainers relegated to the lounge instead of rooms though, during which he'd learned both where he was and why there were so many people around. As it turned out he was in Olivine City -- he hadn't actually realized he'd crossed into Johto from Kanto with how he'd been avoiding people the past few weeks, that wasn't good -- and there was a festival starting soon. He still hadn't decided if he was actually going to stick around for it, but given his Pokemon's reactions to the news he likely would be stuck here for a while despite Johto being the last place he wanted to be.
His Pokemon were rushing through their breakfast currently as he worked his way through a cup of coffee and ignored the glares from a couple of the trainers around. Not his fault they had bad poker faces and had lost the night before. Instead he focused on the ever-shifting dynamics of his team as a hand shifted to the egg on his lap to make sure it didn't fall. Virus and Izanami were eating near each other again as they had taken to doing recently, Naoi had eaten quickly and was trying to steal some of Riuqa's to no avail, and Arc had also already finished and was hovering nearby bouncing in the air excitedly. The large Rotom was, of the five with him, the most excited at the prospect of the festival and a good chunk of the reason why he was actually considering staying around for it. He'd make his final decision after they all finished, though.
