liam miller watched the glistening cup before him with careful eyes, his attention quickly swapping from one individual to another as to guess whether or not they were to place their names in the goblet of fire. he had been absent minded for a good portion of the night, keeping distracted away from the others at the table. some of them were talking about quidditch, others the upcoming tournament. none of which tended to catch his immediate interest at the time. the sudden voice from behind gave him a sort of fright, turning abruptly to confront the source. there beside him now sat a girl, a girl he did not recognize to have been sitting there before. watching warily as the girl introduced herself, he took note of the way of greeting, repeating the same nod gesture she had just done. " nice name, tess. the names liam. "

samuel adley sat down in one of the many now vacant seats that were left discarded by the leaving students. he and his brother hadn't arrived in time to listen closely to the announcement the headmaster had given the school, and thought the goblet to be somewhat of an everyday tradition held by the teachers and pupils alike. though it seemed very, very odd to him, he gave it not another thought. it would be rude to bring it up, yes? he pondered. would the students of hogwarts really take offense to a question such as that? perhaps they would, and so he decided not to even attempt to go against the slim chance he was given. taking a breaded roll from a wooden bowl in front of him, he handed it to benjamin, who looked to share the very same expression of confusion as he did. " what do you believe this is exactly, benjamin? "

benjamin adley followed his brother as they slippedβ far from discreetlyβ into a row of vacant chairs lined against the table. many of the students had already left, which led benjamin to believe that they were lost for far too long amongst the halls. the meal had surely already ended, for the teachers themselves had also left their assigned position at the very front of the room. the glistening cup that stood where the headmaster had previously been had caught his attention almost as soon as it did his brothers, both of them seeming to lean in to catch a closer glimpse. he took note on its beauty, nearly ignoring the flames that poured over its edge. taking the roll from the offering hand of samuel, he gave a short answer of his views on the matter. " it's odd, that's what it is. "

chance mulligan turned from side to side in an attempt to catch the attention one of the other students seated, hoping to receive answers to the many questions he held regarding the recent events that had just taken place. after repeated attempts to converse with another pupilβ only to be brushed off due to the conversations and activities they had already started prior to his attemptsβ he had then decided to go ahead and tap on the shoulder of a student who seemed to be doing nothing of the sort. surely, his thought, he would not be brushed off unless the student in question was doing something monumentally importantβ which looked to chance to be very unlikely. unless, of course, the student simply didn't want to talk to him at all. in case of such an event, all chance was to do was find anotherβ and preferably more willingβ student to explain to him the tournament as a whole. " pardon me, do you know whats going on? "

joshua wilson thought over the request of his cousinβ him, entering a well received tournament on the very first day he arrived at the school, one that is fabled to give its champion everlasting glory. it almost seemed to be an insult to the students who have grown up at hogwarts long before he had even known it existed. granted, he has heard it mentioned time and time beforeβ nearly every witch or wizard hasβ but he had only truly known ilvermorny to be his home. joshua knew he would only have one year remaining within the school system, and wished he was to spend it at ilvermorny.
his mind began to wander off, catching misplaced thoughts that didn't seem to belong there. why had he been sent to hogwarts? he thought. of course, his mother had told him numerous times the reasonβ in fact, she had repeated the same statement so many times joshua believed he could now do a very accurate impression of her at any given time. his father had died, she told him, and she had needed a break. he would only stay there for that year, and then return to the states. alright, he responded that day. although there still seemed to be a nagging worry picking away at him. nevertheless, during his stay at hogwarts, he was to care for his cousin. but this? this seemed to be too much. and so he simply repeated his previous answer. " I'm not sure about this, em. "

emma taylors hands were clapped together in a prayer position, sounding small pleas and begs in the direction of her cousin. he looked to be absent minded, paying little to no attention to the waving hands of emmaβ much to her dismay. she wasnt sure whether she was going to far, pleading with joshua to join the tournament in her placeβ as she was too young, being a sixth year, to join herselfβ she tended to take things a bit overboard when committed to a cause such as this one. more than this, she felt as though her cousin was deserving of it, despite his very clear lack of 'hogwarts spirit'. it was awfully clear that joshua took more of a liking towards ilvermornyβ which is quite frankly not surprising, seeing as it was his initial school for six yearsβ and emma seemed to have taken it upon herself to help him 'adjust' to the new school. may it be dragging him to social events, or perhaps even going as far as to attempting to drop his name in the flaming goblet herself, she truly saw these acts as a way of assimilating him further into hogwarts. and so, she would persist. " just, just think about itβ alright? please? "
