Maven shook her head as the girl spoke, “Don’t worry about it.” She brushed the apology off with a wave of her hand. “I know you said you’d be busy with-“ her sentence was cut short as the door opened an Alyssa stepped inside. The prefect blew air threw her nose in kind of a silent, distasteful snort as the girl acknowledged only Zachary. She shot Gemma a knowing look and wiggled her eyebrows somewhat mockingly. She folded her arms over her chest and began chewing absently on her lower lip as her friend greeted the new arrival, listening to them exchange pleasantries.

Alyssa focused her attention to her fellow sixth year, her friend was a little bit annoying with all her disgusted noises, she didn’t quite like her but she could ignore her. Zach raised his eyebrows as Alyssa, another slytherin prefect in the year below, appeared at the door. He titled his head, amused by her sudden arrival, "Depends, " he replied, "rumours say they're bringing in a new seeker, faster in the year." Zachary paused for a moment, straightening up and clearing his throat, "although, i doubt we'll get much playing time with the Triwizard Tournament beginning at halloween" he mused, wondering what this year's Triwizard Tournament would bring and who the Goblet of Fire would choose. Zach had briefly thought about putting his name forward, finally prove to his father he was worthy.

Casirnir found a quiet compartment with only one girl and her furry companion. "May I?" she asked politely, gesturing to the seat opposite as she set down her large trunk. The girl seemed engrossed in her book and Casirnir smiled, knowing she had her own book stuffed in her own bag. Her eyes found their way to the station outside, where her aunt Cathy was waving vigorously from the platform. Cassie blushed, giving her a small wave back as she heard the train whistle before it lurched forward. She couldn't hide her excitement as she grinned, watching the station give way to a barren landscape.

"Looking forward to anything in particular?" Tessa asked, surprising herself with how outgoing she was being. She found it also surprising the boy hadn't been scared off by her to start off with, he has nerve, i'll give him that! Tess continued to stroke the cat as it settled in the lap, every so often glancing out the window. The crowds on the platform were beginning to disperse, a few teary parents still waving to their children. Then she heard the characteristic whistle of the stream train.

"Not really. I don't even know what to expect yet." Chris answered, opting to go back to reading now. The boy jumped at the loud whistle, though, startled by the sudden loud noise. He frowned as he leaned down to claim back his book, a tad embarrassed about his reaction.
Great, for an older girl, Tessa had been rather nice. Now that he's made a fool of himself, she'll probably just laugh at him for being a scaredy cat. Or maybe not, most older kids he knew of wouldn't have even bothered talking to him to begin with, unless they were talking down at him or mocking him.

Tess stifled a giggle when the boy jumped. She pitied the first year, knowing how frightening it had been for her when she had begun at hogwarts. Back then, Tessa had had no one to calm her nerves or give advice so she knew how disorientating the whole thing could be. Carefully, she pulled an already opened packet of Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans she had obtained on the way in. Tessa guessed that as the boy was familiar with magic, he hadn't tasted the delights of wizard sweets. She leaned over to the boy, holding out the packet, a mischievous grin on her face. "Every Flavour Beans," she told him, "want one?" Tess took one herself, chewing for a moment before placing the distinct taste, "ear wax." she said, disgusted.

Alyssa was a little shocked, she didn’t know that Hogwarts was going to host the triwizard tournament. ”oh, I guess so, but to be honest I didn’t know about the tournament.” she looked over at Zach and smiled ”I might enter myself then, slytherin will finally have someone who is famous for not being a villain haha.” Alyssa thought of eternal glory, how great it would be to show her brother she wasn’t weak, to prove that most slutherins wouldn’t play dirty. She isn’t like any other slytherin though, kind of explains why the sorting hat was going to place her in ravenclaw. ”That also mean the Yule ball is coming up!” she smiled at the thought, this was probably the thing she was most looking forward to at Hogwarts. That and the triwizard tournament.

Ebony was running late due to his adoptive mother Vera. Vera tried kissing her 'son' goodbye as he broke away towards the train that could probably take off any time now. "Not now! Get your filthy hands off me woman!" he hissed at her leaving a hurt expression on the woman's face. She waved goodbye despite his rude comment. This boy looked to be a sixth year. He held his fat cat under one arm and with the other pushing his cart/buggy with him. One of the attendants took his cart, the attendant had an annoyed expression but he just ignored it and stepped on the train.

The boy took one, watching the other try her luck first, a small smile of amusement on his face at her misfortune. The connection was made quickly. "It's like BeanBoozled."
Although he had no real idea what to expect from the brown bean he'd picked, he popped it into his mouth with little hesitation. After a moment, it was clear from his expression - Chris hadn't gotten a particularly pleasant flavour. "...Cat food?" He'd taken a guess, though one would expect someone to be...a bit more disgusted by a flavour like that than he seemed to be.
Yes, he'd tried cat food before. He was curious what it was like.

Arching an eyebrow, Gemma turned toward Maven with a small smirk twitching on her full lips. “I’ve been thinking about entering the triwizard tournament,” she whispered in a low voice. “But I wouldn’t disgrace the Slytherin name by competing for a house that not even the sorting hat was sure I belonged in.” Gemma’s expression returned to her usual stone-cold stare as she aimed the remark at Alyssa, remembering the sorting hat’s near decision to sort the girl into Ravenclaw.

“Plus, this summer taught me a few things so I’ll have some tricks up my sleeve to win,” Gemma added under her breath, nudging Maven - a sly sparkle in her dark brown eyes.

Maven was broken out of her stare straight ahead somewhere between the two Slytherin across from her and focused now on the girl beside her as she spoke. Her eyes lit up with amusement as Gemma confided her interest in the triwizard tournament. Because her arms were crossed, Maven just swung them slightly to the side to nudge Gemma with her elbow. “Please,” she affirmed the curly-haired girl under her breath enthusiastically, “From the students I’ve heard that want to be entering if you get selected I think you’ve got a pretty good chance.” She continued. Maven held back a snicker at Gemma’s pointed comment towards Alyssa, deciding it best not to egg her on in the sixth-year’s presence. Speaking of the aforementioned girl, Maven heard her mention the Yule Ball and groaned inwardly, but was reminded of Gemma earlier expressing and interest in attending. “You want to go to that, right Gem?” She inquired with a smirk at the darker skinned girl.
