- ββ TURNING up from her desk, cartia-leonette heard her name being called. she gazed over her shoulder to see flora, a sixth year hufflepuff standing. "hey flo!" she smiled and looked upward. she moved over so flora could sit if she wanted to. the professor introduced himself, and began to drawl on about the new year, and the upcoming n.e.w.t's. cartia-leonette internally groaned, and perhaps some of it slipped out. "those are so far away though." she mumbled. coming fresh off the holidays, cartia-leonette was not prepared to get straight into the exam details.
"IT'S more of jenny's job to deal with the new talent, but i'll be there in support. i think she had to talk to me about something." she shrugged, looking down at flora's page she already saw little doodles dotting the lining of the page. art was not cartia-leonette's thing, unless it was about the stars. oh the stars she loved. she craved the night sky, and loved it sometimes more than she loved herself. dusk, night and dawn were the most beautiful time's in cartia's opinion. the beauty of them were unable to be captured in simple photos or books.
the professor, who seemed to know what he was doing, took the attention of the class as he asked the first question. cartia didn't bother putting her hand up to answer, but just opened her mouth. "transfiguration is the act of transforming one object or being into another object. conjuration is making an object or being from nothing, or the traces of something related to it." she spoke smoothly, as if she knew this information from birth.

- ββ LAURENCE still felt out of it. he wasn't neasuses (thank merlin, he wouldn't have to miss tryouts) and not entirely tired - just misplaced. the shift from holidays to school was always a little hard for the deep sleeping laurence. "i'm fine alyssa, truly i am." he placed his hand on her shoulder, gave it a squeeze before removing it and turning to the desk. before he could even get his books out, the professor wanting the students in the room to move around and get into groups of three. already sitting in a trio, laurence didn't bother moving, until he realized it was an instruction to move into groups, and also stand up.
SWALLOWING hard, laurence, like the other students in the class moved to stand and awaited their professors instructions. "professor, doesn't the incantation lead to a patrnous being called on?" he spoke loudly. he thought of his favorite memory - the summer before his parent's divorce. it was pure, sleek and fresh in his mind, as if he were still on the scottish isles today. he remembers a photo being taken of him and his family, sitting quietly on a cliffs edge, their feet dangling over the side. the remembers the golden eagle that flew right when the picture was being taken. he remembered the look on his sisters young face when she saw the photo afterwards, a golden eagle flying across the face of the photo - a family memory to be remembered.
SNAPPING back to class, laurence already knew what memory he would call on if he was to use the incantation. he performed this one time at home, wowing his younger sister when she was just a first year.
