"Beaters are meant to be aggressive." Lee-Jae declared, with a huff. "And no, but at least talking with a Slytherin is better than a Hufflepuff." He scowled, folding his arms and leaning back in his seat. When Genevieve commented about the two of them apparently getting along well, Lee-Jae scoffed and let out a sharp, short laugh. "We're not 'getting on', so perish the thought." He responded. He already knew who Genevieve was, since they'd had a few classes together in the previous years, since they were in the same year, but he figured that he might as well introduce himself as well, just in case, "Lee-Jae Dai."

He was a little surprised by Ashwell's comment, but he supposed that he didn't seem very assuming about that sort of thing. Skylar shook his head slightly. "It's fine. Though I'm not entirely sure what someone who was an Ancient Runes kind of person would look or seem like." He replied, and he smiled slightly. He looked through a bag that he'd brought with him, and took out a Herbology book. "I'm more inclined towards Herbology, though, if I really have to pick either of the two."

He was still looking for a compartment to sit in, and as more and more students started boarding, he was growing more concerned that he wouldn't find somewhere to sit. Or he'd end up sitting with someone that was not nice. Just as he was about to resign himself to likely standing up for the next five to six hours, someone called out to him - at least, he assumed hopefully it was towards him. Desmond turned towards the voice, and eyes lit up in recognition of the Gryffindor, as they'd had a few classes together in the previous years. He smiled brightly, glanced around to check it was directed towards him, then nodded. "Yes, please!" He accepted, and he moved to step into the compartment with... Matthew? He was pretty sure that the Gryffindor was Matthew.
Desmond sat down opposite the Gryffindor. "Thank you!" he said, gratefully, then asked, in an attempt to strike up a conversation, "Matthew, right?"

Bailey stood looking into her mirror, making sure that her outfit was just right. She had used a simple charm to braid her golden locks into two Dutch braids. Picking up her bags, she walked out the door of her home to begin the drive to the train station.

Shortly after gerting in the car, she arrived and chose a cart with little to no people in it. Putting her bag on the seat beside her, Bailey turned her attention to a familiar looking, fellow Hufflepuff. "Hi" she said, smiling at the guy as he got onto the train.

Genevieve rolled her eyes as her housemate introduced himself. "Of course I know who you are." She looked over the two once more, and laughed to herself. "You can deny it all you want, Lee-Jae, but I think you and Hufflepuff Sarina are getting along quite swell." She smirked at him and took a seat opposite of him. "I think I'll stay here for a while, I'd quite enjoy watching this play out."

Sarina chose to respond to Lee-Jai's snide comment about Hufflepuff in the most mature way possible: she stuck her tongue out and blew a raspberry, then moved her gaze on to Genevieve as the other girl sat down across from him, nodding her head. "Oh absolutely, I agree. We're getting along quite well. I'm driving him bonkers." She looked back at Lee-Jai. "We're best friends now, aren't we?"

xxxxxdylan rolled his eyes at his sister, watching her give him a wink and then head off into some compartment. usually he'd sit with his sister but he found himself not really anticipating the company. quickly grabbing an empty compartment and stuffing his trunk wherever and then lounging on one of the seats. his head popped up as he heard a voice, a familiar face. poppy. "hey," he nodded to her as she put her stuff down and settled down. "excited for another year?" he joked with a smile.

xxxxxlilith winked at her brother before heading off through the train, seeing as it had taken the pair awhile to get to the train it seemed most compartments were full. she peeked her head into one to find two boys opposite each other. one of the them was a familiar face but she couldn't say the same for the other boy. "hey, i hope it's okay if i can join you two?" she asked with a charming smile, popping her head back into the hallway to look around before back in again. "if not, it's fine." lilith didn't really wish to disturb them but she couldn't exactly find her friends, oh well. meeting new people was always fun.

"I'm a foreign exchange student, so haven't been sorted into any of them yet. But Gryffindor sounds like an okay house as well as Slytherin. I don't know if either of them are like Thunderbird though. Do you happen to have any helpful advice for someone who is having trouble deciding between the two of them?" Eleanor, who was trying to keep a straight face, asked. "Gryffindor and Slytherin aren't huge fans of each other. So I suspect that she'll try to persuade me to become a Gryffindor. But Arden might give me some good information and advice. She seems friendly enough," she thought.

Professor Goodwin was almost done tidying up her classroom. A few books on a bookshelf needed straightening, there was a spider web that needed to be removed, and the cookies needed to finish baking. She was specifically baking them for students in her house, but she could always make more if necessary. When the timer rang, Professor Goodwin took the cookies out of the oven and placed them onto cooling racks. They definitely smelled good.

He knew in the back of his mind that they were just teasing him, but it still wound him up. "Absolutely not. We're not even in the realm of being friends." Lee-Jae insisted, sounding rather annoyed. Then, he huffed, and added, "I wish I had some of that Muggle invention... earphones? To listen to music, so I can block you both out and not have to listen to you." As an alternative, Lee-Jae got his pocket mirror out again, and opened it, so that he could preen at himself in it, and just ignore the girls. There was no chance he was moving to another compartment, since they would likely all have someone in them now, though it was annoying that the others wouldn't move.

He settled down, and prepared himself for the several-hour journey ahead of him. At least he was sitting with someone pleasant - and he quite looked forward to getting to know Matthew more. After a few moments, though, Desmond looked up towards the door again as it was opened by a student he didn't really recognise, so he guessed that she was in a different year to him. Still, he smiled warmly towards her. "It's fine with me. There's plenty of space in here." He gestured towards the empty seats in the compartment. It would be nice to get to know even more students around here, and she seemed quite interesting to talk to.

Professor Fairgood opened his window before sitting at his desk to go through some of the lectures he would be giving. As he flipped through his papers and books he heard his owl fly through the window and onto the perch in the classroom. Noticing the letter attached to his owl, taking it he began to read. The letter said he was to meet the students at the docks and help with bringing them to the castle.

Arden nods her head with a smile. "Of course! I think the biggest difference between the houses is that Gryffindor makes decisions based on what is best for the majority of people, while Slytherin tends to make decisions based on what is best for their friends and themselves. That being said, neither one is better or worse than the other for having different reasonings for their decision making. Just go with which ever you feel most closely resembles your values", she says smiling. She hopes her advice will help Eleanor, as she has the best interest for those around her.
