Dragon's Fire [NEEDS MEMBERS!!! Please Join!]

"Great!" grinned Luka, Right behind him. She looked at Mantle, hoping to ask him a question. "How many other dragons are there?" Luka asked. The only ones she really knew of were part of her tribe, which was probably why she was so suprised to see Mantle in the cave with her. But then her eyes caught the shape of some ugly scars along Mantle's wings and back. She quickly looked away, then swooped down on a herd of cattle, keeping her mouth so busy she wouldn't have to talk anymore.

Shade spun around, her lips curling up in a snarl. "If you're not going to unt, what will you do then? I expect my warriors to fend for the tribe, not to laze about! I said I would handle Zoe's eggs." Fire spurted from her mouth, making the wallls of the cave turn cherry-red. "If you're not going to hunt, clean all of the caves then! Clear out the dirty nests and bring in fresh material for our beds! Also, clear out any dirt you come by as well. Either that or hunt. Your choice, Rowki! I never expected that you, of all dragons, would have a problem of me ordering you to hunt! Unless you feel you're too noble to be a lowly food-gatherer, even though that's your daily job!"

Rowki's eyes turned with hatred, "No, I said I would handle the eggs. Or wait, are you too scared and petty to actually do your job as leader? A pathetic leader at that!" He snorted. "Where are the border patrols? Where are the hunting patrols? Here's some news for you. I've already hunted today, I've hunted enough food for six dragons! We can't feast every night, eventually we'll run out of food. I haven't taken a bite of food for myself in three days, no, I've been running around here trying to make you happy, I've been hunting more than any dragon! What about the dragons who haven't hunted today? What about the dragons who are still asleep? You do nothing with those lazy bums. I've been working my tail off for you, Shade!" He snapped.

Iyce stepped up, wanting to settle the argument, but he feared that Rowki was right. Shade hadn't hunted at all, and he himself had already gone out that morning.

((What? Shade hunted already! She caught like, five goats and brought some back for Zoe! O_O))

Snorting angrily, Shade dismissed Rowki with a burst of fire and a slash of her talons, furious that Rowki would be so mad even though she only asked him to hunt. "What's you problem? I'm just trying to be helpful! I doubt some sort of impatient male would be able to understand the delicacy of eggs! Females are supposed to be responsible of egg-caring, if you haven't noticed! Anyways, I gave you many oppurtunities to eat! You chose by yourself to do border patrols and hunting! In fact, this is the only time I actually ordered you to hunt! Before, when we went hunting together, I only asked you, requested! No order! Besides, I don't want to feast. I want to store up prey so that we don't starve when there's barely any prey that's skinny and scrawny in the dead of winter, genius! If you're such a great leader, then why don't you just kill me so YOU can be a perfect leader? Not as easy as it looks, Rowki!"

Rowki may have been dismissed, but he didn't move yet. He wasn't done. "Just because your mate has died, doesn't mean we should pity you and be your slaves. I do not take orders, as I have said, I've hunted already, many dragons haven't! I refuse to hunt anymore. I have fed six dragons today that haven't hunted, I caught four cows yesterday, and six wild boars and a horse the day before. What have I eaten? Nothing." He turned, ready to leave, "Oh, and Shade? Have you noticed that you're missing a dragon? Yes, Luka is missing, and you didn't know, did you? No, you've been too busy prancing around like a hatchling, then being a brat!"

"Now you go so far as to insult the memory of my mate! I am not slaving anyone! The dragons of my tribe all work hard, and it was your decision to go hutning alone! You obviously don't realize the pain I feel because you're a lonely freak and the reason you have no mate is because of your random outbursts like this! Now, you're padding after me! I doubt this is the best way to get to my heart, Rowki! No dragon talks to me like that! You're a fool! Oh, and guess what? I lead a border patrol at the crack of dawn! And now the members of my patrol are resting!"
Shade was shaking in anger. "I knew Luka was missing! Perhaps she went hunting all by herself, did you think of that? Or maybe she's feeling all alone because apparently, she feels sad that she has no mate! I understand my tribe and its members. Now back off Rowki! Would you like to know what I caught? I caught over ten deer yesterday, five goats today, as well as three goats and two deer the day before yesterday! I also brought home five deer three days ago! I barely take anything for myself because I'm preserving. Key word, preserving our prey! Zoe's caring for eggs, as well as Holly! How do you think our tribe would feel in the dead of winter when there's no prey anywhere?"

Rowki snorted, hate in his eyes. He spoke softly, his voice deep and haunting. "I would rather rip out your heart and eat it than be forced to be your mate. You're pathetic, you're selfish. Luka's not hunting." He confirmed, lifting into the air. His beautiful red scales glittered like fire, dangerous, murderous. He flapped easily, gliding, and before a moment's time was out of the territory.

Shade snorted angrily. "Good riddance!" She muttered. "I should place you in exile after all of the things you said about me. You insulted me, and when you come back, Rowki, you'll never guess what I have in store for you... I'll never love anyone more than I loved Ravenfire. I thought of you as a friend, Rowki. Now I hate you, and I will make your life miserable for claiming false accusations."

"Luka, I know you're there. I know where everyone in my tribe is. It's part of my job. Now tell me what's bugging you. Does it look like I care about the fact that you don't have a mate?" Shade asked. She always knew where every single member of her tribe was. And she knew what was wrong with Luka. But she wanted her to say it for herself. "Luka, for the record, I don't like Rowki. He may be a loyal dragon.... Scratch that. I hate his guts. I'd rip out his entrails and feed it to the vultures, except the vultures would get diseased. I really miss Ravenfire, my dead mate... Luka, you're such a beautiful dragon. No dragon thinks less of you if you don't have a mate. Don't worry. You'll always be my friend. You're never lonely, in my opinion. Your friendly tribe members are always there to help you. Luka dear, if you ask me, sometimes males are rather unreliable."

((Guys, I'm going away for 5 days today, so I will come back to the tribe, but I won't be able to post.))

After Luka had finished hunting, she said, "Do you want to meet my tribe? I really need to get back, and I have been known to do this before, but not for this long." She picked up some of th dead cows, because she decided it would be good to bring something back with her. "If you don't come now Mantle, I will tell you how to get to us.We are south, in the valley only us dragons can get to. You should come, we could use dragons like you." 'Dragons with fighting experience', she thought, looking over his scars. She smiled at him, then flew tawords home. She wondered if anyone had noticed, or even cared about her absence. She didn't look behind to Mantle, she decided he could come if he wanted to. She would be waiting.
