Leon watched the group continue to gather, so they had found more than he expected but it still wasn't all of them. "Alright let's head inside. The rest will be explained there." He hoped the others were ready to handle this, as far as he was concerned he was the only fighting specialist the others seemed to be more researchers. He was sure they had some skills other than that but as it stood it felt as if he was brought in to make sure these new trainers wouldn't fall in their first battle. Leon opened the door and held it waiting for everyone to head inside to meet the professor who put this together.
The Professor
NPC
The relatively young professor stood inside waiting for the group to gather, he looked disheveled, as if he hadn't slept in days, which wasn't hard to believe given everything going on. "Ah, good, yes, good."
He kept looking around for something, pivoting in a circle until he could grab a pile of papers he spotted, leafing through them quickly. "Ah, yes, um." How was he supposed to start this?
He caught Leon's annoyed looked and suspected the other specialists who had volunteered so much were feeling about the same. "Well, hello, I, um, I'm the one who brought you all here. You see, I believe that these marks that appeared on all of you, are special. They're not like anything normal that has ever been seen before and given that what's going on has never been seen before either, well, you can guess it seems that there may be a connection." He decided it best to leave the old woman out, he feared such knowledge would scare them away. He of course had informed the specialists but honestly what did they all have to lose?
Wait, did he mention his name? No he hadn't.
"I am Professor Genkov. I was part of a team trying to understand what's been going on. See, we were able to find the general area of the source of all this destruction but no one has been able to get close enough to figure out what really is going on. Some of the best trainers in the world have gone missing when they tried to get close, it is possible that the energies being put out by whatever is causing this caused problems. But, I believe that those marks are created by the same energy, that you all might be able to safely get close. Now, of course the easiest way to find out is to just drop one of you in there but that is extremely dangerous and wouldn't help anyone. So, instead, I figured if we gathered everyone with these marks and sent you towards it with some specialists to help you, then we can see how close you can get and if it becomes too dangerous the specialists can pull you out. This town is actually the perfect starting point for that. It's close enough to the center of whatever is causing this for you all to make it but not close enough to be immediate danger." He hoped he hadn't scared any off yet.
"Now, of course given how this has effected Pokemon recently, well, we wouldn't be sending you in empty handed. Not only do I have a device for all of you to read for increase energy activity, that would alert you to storms and earthquakes before they happen, but these Specialists have kindly collected and donated a few tamed Pokemon for you all. You'll receive one to help you make your way there. Now, of course you'll wonder why we don't just set you up with a team? Well, first off that would be hard to get that many and we don't want the strongest pokemon right off the bat to rebel against you all. These are perfectly acceptable starters. Anyways, I'll uh, be here if you have any questions, the devices are on that table over there, the specialists can help you with basic stuff and will get you your Pokemon. You're all going to be spending a lot of time together, so might want to get to know each other before the chaos."

Leon rolled his eyes slightly at the speech from Professor Genkov. Of course he was long winded and not very good at this. This was going to be a long day. "Alright you all heard him. Devices are on the table, make sure you get one. As for your starters, he's right, myself and our other specialists have them. Unfortunately this isn't going to be like a normal choice, we're not in a position to give you a free choice of well balanced options. Instead," Leon picked up his box, "We each have a list of names, when yours is called, get a Pokeball from the box. Meet your partner, take into account what others have. We'll then start passing out some supplies, we're not sending you out there without a supply of potions and pokeballs after all. Now, let's see." Leon got out his list. "Franklin Stewart, Rose Silvetti, Lana Regimae, and Morgan Haveen, you're getting your starters from this box. Go ahead and reach in."

Natalia listened to Leon for a few more moments before getting bored and looking around at the others, until she noticed the movement inside. She was sizing everyone else up as best she could though. She followed the others inside and stuck near the back. She decided rather quickly she wasn't a fan of the professor. She was fairly sure she wouldn't be a fan of most of the others around either. She looked at the table with the devices, deciding she'd head over later, she wanted to see who was eager to grab it, who would get what. She also wanted to see who was going to call her name.

Bane listened eagerly to each word, trying to not pay too much attention to those around him. He shuffled his feet a little, a tad nervous. He felt relieved when they went inside and listened to the professor, already deciding he did not like the sounds of this job. But, really? What choice did they have. The marks were strange, and the chance of them being connected was relatively high. Of course correlation and causation are two different things. At the mention of the devices, Bane went for the table, more interested in the device than the chance of receiving a Pokemon partner.
