"Hmm, I guess you're right..." Princess murmured, mulling over Rantaro's suggestions. He seemed to have quite the insight into this situation; he'd mentioned earlier it was slightly similar to where he'd come from, so perhaps he'd dealt with the aspect of being controlled from afar before. It certainly would be surprising if he'd come from another 'game' like this, but Princess didn't dismiss the idea entirely. "Though, according to the pamphlet, it doesn't seem like we necessarily have to kill, we just have to die. In some sort of...entertaining way, I guess." As she spoke, her brow was furrowed, and her face unusually serious for someone who was normally rather enthusiastic. She was snapped out of her apparent trance when Rantaro sheepishly apologized for having taken their conversation down such a dark avenue. She laughed slightly in turn, continuing her attempts to make herself seem relatively non-threatening. "Well, the situation's pretty grim. I don't think it's that bad to wonder about it a little." Princess shrugged. She glanced back over her shoulder at the scarred tree she'd been sitting under, then promptly returned her gaze to Rantaro. She was still concerned about whatever had left those scratch marks on the trunk of that tree, but she also knew it wasn't wise to take her eyes off Rantaro for too long. He seemed friendly enough, but that could easily have just been a ruse.

"Sure isn't. " Princess sighed, trying to exhale some of her anxiety. "Gotta be a one-in-a-million chance, y'know? Coulda been anyone." She huffed, momentarily looking off to the side. She felt slightly uneasy out here; the city square was mostly open space, with only scattered foliage. "But, there's no real use dwelling on that now." She chuckled slightly, though it was mostly nerves which prompted her to do so. "Anyway, I'm gonna get outta here. Being out in the open like this is giving me the creeps." With that, she took a step to the side, but glanced back at Rantaro, silently offering for him to follow. Internally, she hoped he would, as she was still desperately lonely and would've loved to keep talking to him, even if it was just about how bleak their situation was.

An incredulous sneer spread across his face when the short-statured girl made a jab at the size of his weapon. Quite the statement coming from someone of her size. That confirmed that she had never encountered a gun before and, however it was possible, didn't even understand what one was. His index finger twitched down to the trigger, hovering there for a second before this standoff changed drastically. A strange rumbling sound pierced the air, and as Eddie watched the girl's skin turned a mottled, stony grey. He'd only ever met one person who could manipulate their own body comparably to what she'd done, but there was nothing that indicated a link between the two. The device affixed to her arm also seemed to spring to life, now glowing softly and moving on its own. What exactly it did was not yet apparent, but she felt the need to retrieve a weapon regardless of its presence. Eddie didn't move his gun a centimeter, even though it would've likely done nothing if her skin had been turned to stone. To top all this off, the kid had the audacity to ask him rather curtly whether or not he was sane. Not knowing how to respond, Eddie fell into a bout of disbelieving laughter. "Y'know, right about now I've got no idea." He answered, with a slow shake of his head. It was quite funny, actually, how calmly she was upsetting his entire perception of reality while at the same time trying to reason with him.

"You wanna talk this out? Okay, first you tell me what the hell you just did." He hissed, abject bewilderment easily turning into hostility. If he was hallucinating all this, it was amazing that his hallucinations were so well-spoken and restrained when it came to violence. He would've expected something much more cruel and disturbed from his own subconscious. This had to be some sort of joke - and not the subjective kind of 'joke' he found in almost everything, but a deliberate, well-planned joke intentionally aimed at him.

The halfling tilted her head to one side, confused. Had he never seen a Stoneskin spell before? It was one of the more difficult ones to pull off, especially without a ready supply of stone, but it was hardly uncommon. Maybe he didn't hang around magic users all that much. "It's simple, really," she said. "I channel magic into my skin, altering its hardness and density while retaining my natural flexibility and ease of movement. It works best when I have some powdered adamantine as a catalyst, but this will suffice for now. I can cast one on you, if you want. I could also enhance your... ahem... weapon, but doing anything more than improving its function would require more time and materials than I currently have."

The halfling then extended a hand, the one that wasn't encased in a glowing magical gauntlet. "I'm Sali, by the way," she said. "Sali Fargo, House Cannith Magewright and occasional adventurer. If it's not too much to ask, might we travel together for the time being? You seem a sensible fellow, I would welcome your assistance in tracking down my other party members."

Klaus

The boy nodded his head. "I'm afraid not. I've only ever met you." He looked up at the sky, or rather what he could see of it. Klaus had no clue how trees managed to grow in this city so quickly, or why a vulture managed to find it's way all the way to such an abandoned place.

The first thing that Pearl felt was an odd throbbing in her head before very slowly waking up. If there was one thing that gems never did normally, it was sleep. So this was already unusual, and it was something she certainly wasn't used to. Still believing she was at the temple in the moment of half-consciousness, she sat up from the rough ground and talked to no one in a bit of a slurred tone. "Steven? Steven, what happened.." she said drowsily, running a hand through her head. After a second of hearing no response, she opened her eyes and immediately tensed up in surprise. "W-- wait! What!?" Pearl scrambled to her feet and went into a defensive stance, expecting something to leap out at her right away. She began to reach for her spear, but stopped. It was eerily quiet. For the time being, she seemed to be alone in some abandoned area. Based on the meticulously designed architecture that was aged by a lot, she assumed that this used to be a land owned by people. She sighed in relief, resting her arm. At least there were people here, which means that this must still be on Earth. At least, she thought. But.. where on Earth was she? It certainly wasn't Beach City. And she was moved at the worst possible moment as well. Leaving the others behind without warning? Who even took her here? Her answer to the last question was already nearby sitting just a few inches from her feet. Upon spotting it, she tilted her head slightly in confusion. A.. oh, what was it called.. Letter! A letter.. Picking it up, she read through it to the best of her ability. Dusthaven was this place's name. Her face of curiosity turned into one of angered confusion. It took her a few minutes to get through it, all the while pacing and trying to figure out what it meant. Apparently, there was no one here she can trust anyway. To go home she had to be the last one standing? As in.. alive? What in the world did it mean by "they've gone the way of the dinosaurs!?" Upon reading the last word at the bottom of the paper, she fumed and stomped her foot. Exie. That's who took her here! It must be. "I don't have time for this! I can't be away from home now!" Looking through it some more, there were more instructions and info about this world. Well, at least they were nice enough to do that.. but still. Pearl clutched her head and could only register her stress through nervously laughing. Her fit of chuckling lasted for a moment before she exhaled sharply and forced herself to calm down. She read the letter. It clearly said to be the last one remaining to be home. And she had to return to Steven. He won't be safe without her care. If Pearl was here, then what if.. the other gems were gone as well? Steven could be in terrible danger! That was enough motivation to walk out and find any others. She had to do what she was built to do. Fight. And if it meant returning to her little Steven, than she was more than willing to do so.

Cassian walked through the ruined city, narrowing his eyes at the rubble of destroyed buildings. He could only imagine how beautiful this place might have looked like before it's downfall. But there were many things that the Illyrian couldn't recognize. There were shiny metal boxes with rubber wheels scattered under buildings, reflective metal signs with symbols he didn't understand, and the roads weren't made of dirt, gravel, or cobblestone. The Siphons glinted in the light, and caught his eye. He stared at the red gems for a moment before running a hand through his wavy dark brown hair. He stretched his wings, spreading them in preparation to fly up into the air in order to get a better look at the city when he heard a feminine voice. The man paused in his tracks and turned around, folding his wings behind him.

Cassian narrowed his eyes, surveying the rubble of buildings before he began to walk forward, looking at the various plants and still being careful on which ones he stepped on. He turned a corner of the street to see a tall, thin female. She looked quite a bit like a ballerina from the Rainbow. He smirked, "Didn't expect to see a petite ballerina around here." He cooed, his hands in his pockets as he looked her over again. Only this time, he noticed the pearl that seemed to be embedded into her forehead. Ouch, that must hurt. She was quite odd, he gathered. With her opalescent skin, and hair that shot back. Then again, she wasn't the weirdest thing he'd ever seen. Cassian shifted his position, flapping his wings gently. "Figured they'd at least leave a person who isn't able to fight out of this. Unless you plan on staying in the background." Cassian forced himself to tuck his wings back in, he was compelled to take to the skies, but he knew better than that when someone might have a bow and arrow on them-- especially if they hit his wings. Cassian shuddered, tucking his wings in even tighter.

"Yes, seriously. Unfortunately..." Even though he didn't show it physically, by his tone of voice, it was obvious that Stinger was immensely disappointed to be there. It seemed like the more he learned, the more the situation seemed to be getting out his scope of knowing what exactly was up, and that was not something he was comfortable with. Not like the situation in general was a comfortable one. He arched an eyebrow slightly before speaking again. "My name is Stinger," he stated before taking a moment to think. "An... Ultimate? Well, the team I'm part of often refers to itself as 'the Ultimate Saviors' though I don't believe that's what you're talking about." He frowned a bit, but figured it probably wasn't too important. Either way, he didn't think that Jark Matter had a hand in this, as it seemed a bit too nice for their methods.

the exitement that rang through her chest deplenished and she listened to keebo, understanding that he was in fact not one of her models. haha, it was a long shot, but you never know. closing her eyes momentarily to calm herself down, labrys's vibrant gaze moved to the young girl she met, a frown forming on her face as she listened to rachel's comment. there was a pause before she spoke, wondering if she should defend him or not. "hey- i don't think he can really help that y'know." the mechanical maiden's voice shifted to a stronger tone at the end, glancing meaningfully at keebo. its not like labrys hated being a weapon, especially not now since she was helping the shadow operatives fight shadows, and she even accepted her own shadow, still, being judged for being a robot was one of her fears, keeping her from speaking to others, even with the investigation team being her friends.

blinking hard, his name repeated in her head. k1b0 huh, maybe i should introduce myself as unit number 034? nah, thats just stupid. opening her mouth to reply, the young ghostly girl behind her spoke first, having labrys interupted again. not that she minded, this honestly fixed her previous problem. the conversation shifted back to this "exie", the sound of the name could belong to either gender, in fact exie might not even be human. all of labrys's memories were stilled filed away, nothing missing, although nothing was there to show she'd been kidnapped or even teleported, if that was possible. "no idea, i can't trace anything about 'em in my memory files." twitching her fingers on the handle of her double axe, it took labrys a little bit to move the situation along, but both of the people she'd met didn't seem very loud or leader-like, not that labrys was either. the automaton was always listening to her sister aigis or the leader mitsuru, it's how she liked things, she coul make her own decisions, but she didn't have to put others lives on the line just because of some things she'd say. "i don't think it even matters, we can worry about that later, 'cause right now, were all in a killing tournament, and i think we should take refuge." satisfied with her words, labrys gave a determined look from her crimson eyes at the two.

Pearl walked foreword, gazing at the decrepit land around her while keeping the letter in hand. It was fascinating, but at the same time, depressing. This kind or reminded her of Beach City with some of the structures she saw, it was just covered in greenery and in some forest rather than being near the ocean. It used to be inhabited by humans, who she had a certain fondness for. Knowing that they seemed to be gone made her a bit more fearful of what happened. How long was she asleep? What if she was out longer than she thought? Placing a finger on her chin in thought, she grew even more paranoid the more she looked down at the info. However, she didn't have to read for long, since she sharply looked up upon hearing a sound. Just around the corner, she spotted a.. whatever that thing was. She reached for her spear and held her arm there, not knowing how to respond. The fact that it had long, fleshy wings made her think that it meant harm. But.. at the same time, the rest of it looked just like a human! She couldn't hurt people! Those were the very species she swore to protect. Listening to it speak, she was offended. Was he saying that she wasn't capable of fighting? Yes, he was. But what in the world was a "petite ballerina?" She's never heard that one before, but maybe she knew the definition. Narrowing her eyes, she huffed a little at him. He was already annoying. But she couldn't hurt a human. If he was one.. Pearl decided that she wanted answers, and he might have them. Reaching in her gem and pulling out her spear, she held it in front of her. "Excuse me! I am not one who's incapable of fighting. And no, I don't plan on hiding. I have to get back home as soon as possible." she began in an annoyed tone, angry at the man for assuming such a thing. Pearl stood her ground bravely and puffed out her chest to seem more tough. Though, her elegant appearance didn't do her any favors. "Do you know this Exie person? Tell me where they are." Maybe if she found the author of the letter, she can go back home an easier way.

Cassian rose an eyebrow as she spoke, but continued to eye the pearl. "Does that hurt...." His words dwindled as he saw her lift her hand and pull out a spear from the pearl. He rose his eyebrows in surprise, he definitely didn't expect a pretty petite ballerina to pull out a spear-- much less from the gem on her forehead. Cassian rose his hands up as she pointed said spear to him. "Sorry miss ballerina, but I don't know who this Exie is." He told her, a smirk playing at his lips. This petite girl seemed ready to kill-- and Cassian wouldn't let that happen. Nor would he kill her if she wanted to engage in a fight. She was an innocent, and did nothing to harm him. The Siphons glowed softly, as if begging for him to actually do something for once. The Illyrian reached his arm back to grab his sword, but paused as his hand wrapped around the hilt, frowning.

He didn't want to fight, even if this girl seemed to want a fight. He didn't want to hurt an innocent. If this were battle training, then this would be different. But in this killing tournament... He didn't want to hurt anyone who wasn't a threat or was innocent. Cassian's hand lingered around the hilt of his sword for a moment before he dropped his hand. "Look, as much as I like a good tussle... I don't want to hurt any innocents. And as far as I'm concerned, you're an innocent. So could you please stop threatening me with that spear of yours?" He motioned his hand downward, as if that would help in anyway. But, in case she did plan to attack, Cassian pushed both his hands forward, red streamed from the Siphons to create a small round shield in front of him. "I don't take any chances, miss ballerina. So until you promise not to harm me, then I'll be having this shield up. But for your information, I can fight too-- I'm the general of our High Lord's armies. But I promise that I mean no harm, nor do I want to harm any innocents... Rather, I'd prefer to defend them. But if it means loosing my life... I don't want to loose it." He said. The Illyrian sure did seem to ramble a lot, for someone who looked so tough. "I have a mate to come home to, even if she doesn't particularly like me. The High Lord and High Lady need my defense, and of course my friends will miss my presence." He smirked at the thought of them. Before it snapped into his mind that he was rambling-- again. He smiled nervously, and glanced away. "Sorry, I tend to ramble." He told her, tucking his wings tighter behind him. But his mind continued on, thinking of a way he could get home without hurting anyone. Hopefully, they could find this Exie and demand a way back home without harm.
