𝔈mhrys slowly hauled herself up from the boxspring mattress, the vertebrae of her spine popping with every movement. the velvet purple curtains allowed rays of sunlight through the small crack, warming her pale visage. bloody good morning to you too. she thought bitterly and raised a hand, shielding her eyes from the vibrant light before she rolled to her feet. the huntress had been running low on provisions for days now, but it was become dire that she made a trip into town. the sound of nails clicking against the hardwood floors signaled the arrival of her companion, wolfe, who proceeded to settle at his master's feet, his tassel swishing against the cool floors. "good morning, love. I regret to inform you that we'll have to wait for breakfast. I'm deeply sorry, but I'll make it up to you. get ready to go." emhrys sighed softly and ruffled the sable fur atop his head, dismissing the canine with a quick wave of her hand as she slipped off to get dressed.
emerging in relatively clean clothes, the woman arranged her array of weapons along her lithe, well-muscled frame, gazing toward her companion with a soft smile before nodding toward the door. wolfe offered her a wolfish grin in response, following behind dutifully as she forced the door open, stepping out into the awaiting sunlight. I hope the weather keeps up. always seems to be bloody storming. the woman thought to herself with a disgruntled snort, following the familiar trail into the city. the cabin was nearly a half hour's walk, but neither human nor canine seemed to mind the adventure all that much. all she needed was a few provisions, and the sooner she managed to locate them, the better. wolfe seemed to veer off into the lead, his bushy tail wagging lazily behind him as he took in all the sights, tongue hanging out.
after a brisk jog in the warm sun, emhrys took a quick swig of her canteen, savoring the taste. tiny beads of sweat had begun to prick at the back of her neck and the woman wiped them away impatiently. "wolfe. scout." the huntress commanded, watching the sable frame of her companion lift his muzzle to the sky and disappear behind an old building. the saarloos wolfhound made no sound as he ventured forth, keeping his senses peeled for any danger. it was then that he caught wind of two people nearby, one significantly younger as determined by scent. she seemed distressed, and that caused the fur along his spine to bristle. twisting briskly, the canine darted back to his master, his gaze urgent as he came across her. noting the look of concern from her dog, rhys nodded briskly and gestured for him to lead the way, to which he darted off, following the same trail as before, leading her directly to the door that keiran had shut behind him. wrinkling her nose at the sight of the dismembered walkers at her feet, the woman stepped around them, knocking gently on the door. whatever was behind said door had sent wolfe into protective mode, meaning it had to be something worth looking into.
