edward elric|14|fma|male

edward was a bit taken off by her question, but he understood why holly had asked. "yeah, well i am human and i've never been referred to as something else other than human. so I'm okay with being called human. he scratched the back of his neck. he looked at holly, she looked pretty normal, except for her wings. "what would you be called?" he asked. "like what do you prefer to be called?" he felt his face growing red, he found asking that question awkward and unusual.

It didn't take him long to notice an older male sitting a little ways down from him tapping away on a tablet. The technology was still much for him to comprehend but he had come to understand it to an extent in his time here and the short time he had experienced it back at the World Tree in his own home. To him it was ancient technology; something that had been buried long before Alrest came to be what it now was. The Architect had explained it to him in their brief encounter and he had seen plenty of the technology while he had been climbing the World Tree itself though it wasn't long after his visit with the Architect that the beasts had attacked. Pushing the thought off, his eyes focused on the male. He seemed stressed or at least bothered by something. It wasn't an uncommon sight in this place. Everyone seemed to go through it. To him nobody ever truly had accustomed to the life that they had here but rather longed to be back home. Most had lost plenty of loved ones. It burdened them. He suspected that it was no different for this man.

"Hey, are you alright?" he asked with a quirk of his brow. Generally he tried to stay out of others business but that always secluded him even more. He might as well try to talk to someone else for a bit. The only times he really interacted with others was when he was training or out on a mission. It wasn't a good happen to fall into yet here he was. It was unlike how he had been back home in Alrest but then again these places were quite different. The goal was still the same though; save the world. "If something's bothering you maybe I can help."

Well, that explained the unsettling feeling Risyn got from Geralt. He was literally made to slay people like her. In another world, they'd probably be enemies. "Not much more exciting," she said, "replace Kaia...Keo... wherever you said with Icecrown Citadel, replace training with mind control, and replace monsters with people, and I'm pretty much the same as you. Wasn't a kid when they got me, though." Risyn's vision flickered, and for a moment, she was back on Azeroth, screams resounding in her ears, smoke singing her nostrils, a worgen bound and kneeling on the floor before her. Hammond. He had been her best friend. Perhaps even more than that.
It was strange. She was pretty much the polar opposite of the Witcher, yet Risyn couldn't help but feel an odd sort of kinship with him. She sensed that he too would do whatever it took to get the job done, and he wouldn't lose any sleep over it. "It's still a bit strange," she said, looking up at the force field dome, "I've seen the world get saved so many times, never thought I'd be doing it myself. 'Course, that's if our leader doesn't get us all killed first." The Death Knight turned her eyes to the pair at the other end of the field, the white-haired boy and the Night Elf that wasn't actually a Night Elf, but was something entirely different, apparently."I ain't old," she said, "but I doubt I could've led an army at his age. I hope he has what it takes."

Geralt smirked at her stumble over the name of his childhood home, but there wasn't much humor in the gesture - his eyes watched Risyn carefully, yet if one looked closely, they could see a shimmer of tangible empathy within the cat-like orbs. Her 'story', which was mostly just her switching out terms and phrases, seemed much more difficult than his own. The training at Kaer Mohan wasn't easy, by any means, and the blood, sweat, and tears spilled there would forever be a part of his psyche...but at least good things came out of it all...at least he had good friends and comrades to share the burden with. From what he was seeing, judging by her own body language, and the emotions flashing through her stoic gaze, she didn't have much of that.

As she turned her attention away, Geralt did as well, mentally and forcibly stifling that feeling of empathy and warmth he'd felt from meeting someone so much like him. This was a war, after all, and everyone he cared for was currently in the dirt...it wouldn't be too wise to make other ties. After all, who knew what this war would bring? These days, all he could really assume was 'death'.

"Saving the world isn't something a Witcher does..." Geralt agreed wryly, stretching his limber arms above his head with a low groan of satisfaction. "But I feel like he has his brain and heart in the right spot. Maybe a bit too much heart, or a bit too much brain...but not everyone's perfect."

      Ain't that the truth.

With a sigh, Geralt straightened up fully, before returning his attention to Risyn. "Speaking of brains and hearts...care for a quick spar? I'd like to finish warming up before I head off of base." His smirk widened ever so slightly, almost turning into a wolf-like grin. She was strong, after all...he could feel it. Not too many people gave him a challenge these days.

Risyn smiled, picking up her sword and passing her hand over it. Icefel's glowing runes dimmed under her touch, as she suppressed the runic enchantments on the weapon. It wouldn't do to give one of her comrades Frost Fever. Or any of the myriad other diseases she could inflict. "Sure," she said, "so long as you don't mind me holding back a bit. No offense, but you alive folks are a tad fragile." Hefting the now inert blade, Risyn held it across her body, gripping it with both hands. Her left foot slid back into a combat stance, and she waited for the Witcher to make his move.

"...Alive...folks." Geralt paused, tilting his head to the side, before shrugging. "Eh, I've been called worse. Get ready, 'My King'. I'm stronger than I look." And, with those last words, Geralt was in motion. In a hum of metal on metal, Aerondight was swung out of its sheathe, just as Geralt's lunge brought him within close distance of Risyn within a scant fraction of a second. The silver blade, as beautiful as it was deadly, practically sang as Geralt pirouetted on his left foot, Aerondight slicing around in a blur of metal, right towards Risyn's neck. Hidden beneath his glove, the Witcher's free left palm glowed white with runic power, the magical energy gathering in preparation.

Risyn shifted her left hand onto the blade of her sword, barely blocking Geralt's blade with the flat of her own. He was fast, far faster than she'd expected him to be. It wasn't a mistake she'd make again. A low growl rising in her throat, the Death knight charged forwards, aiming to push the Witcher back with her shoulder. She needed to make some distance between them, she couldn't swing Icefel effectively at close range. A cold blue light suffused her body as runic magic flowed through her, hardening her skin and strengthening her muscles.

A grunt of exertion escaped Geralt's lips as the woman's armored shoulder slammed into his chest, the heavy impacting being felt despite the compact leather of his own armor. Before he could stumble and fall, the Witcher nimbly rolled backwards with the hit, inhumanely nimble as he smoothly got back onto his feet and slammed his glowing left hand forward. A wide, powerful blast of what appeared to be blue, kinetic force, jetted forward with the strength of a car, right towards the magic-imbued Risyn. She was strong and fast, but her weapon was large, and moved slower than his own. If he could make her fall or stumble, then moving back into her personal space would be a cinch.

      Poppi The Cheerful
      ───────────────────────────────────
Unknown Female Xenoblade Sky Fighter Tagged: Open

Adjusting a life without Tora had taken awhile for Poppi to become accustomed to but she had finally gotten a handle on it or at least the best she could. It helped that Rex was around to help ease her in to it all but even he struggled with his own emotions these days though it had been quite some time since they had lost their friends. She understood it though given that the loss of Pyra and Mythra to him was much like the loss of Tora to her. Nevertheless, the artificial blade had learned to not think of the past and to try and focus on the present.

Hooking her weapon to her back, the young blade made her way through the sleeping quarters of the soldiers. Unlike others she didn't need much sleep if any at all. Occasionally she would need to find some way to recharge her systems but other than that she was normally fine to go. She did try to sleep like the rest of them to assure that she was fully functioning but such could be rather difficult at times. Making her way out of the barracks, Poppi stepped outside and allowed her gaze to wander for a moment as she took account of those that were around. Nearby she could see their leader standing with one of the other soldiers. It was a rare sight to see him out and about, but it came as a pleasant surprise. The last thing he needed to do was work himself to death in his study. Continuing to look around, she could see two other sparring on the training grounds and a couple more not too far away speaking with one another. It seemed like a rather normal day to say the least.

Quietly pushing herself forward, she made her way toward the training grounds. She figured to others she looked too young to fight. That was a reason she rarely asked to spar with anyone unless Rex was willing to work with her. Stopping at a bench on the edge of the area, Poppi took a seat. Maybe some observing would do her well.

Holly // Hawk Laguz // Female // FE: 6 & 7 // Slayer // Location: Training Grounds // Tagged: Edward

Holly nodded at Edward's reply, "Ok then, that's good to know, I'd feel kinda weird if I called you something that you weren't." she paused for a moment before continuing, "As for what I am, my kind are called Laguz and, as you probably saw, we can shapeshift. Of course, if Laguz is too hard to say or remember, I guess you could use that term instead, either one works."

Her eyes then briefly caught sight of Edward's arm, it was interesting to say the least as did not look like an armor gauntlet...or at least not the kind she was used to seeing. Of course, given the boy was from another realm, the strangeness of it didn't really surprise her; if anything, it was intriguing.

Risyn||35||Worsen||Death Knight||Tagged: Geralt
As Geralt released his spell, Risyn thrust out her free hand, his wave of force breaking across the yellow-green anti-magic shell that blossomed from it. So he had his own magic. This one was full of surprises. Fortunately, she was more than prepared to deal with magic. For a battlemage, though, his magic was pretty strong, her shell shattered shortly after the spell hit. It would be another few minutes before she could make another, and taking another one of those blasts would be bad, which meant she had to stop him from casting again. Moving her hand back to the hilt of her blade, Risyn took a wide diagonal swing at Geralt, aiming for his shoulder.
