Wow.
A week later, and he was still pretty damn surprised at the change in scenery.
Kaze paused in the middle of the courtyard, barely giving the rushing students a perfunctory glance. No, his attention, for the umpteenth time that week, was glued to the large majestic academy that stood before him. For a dude with no parents and a crappy apartment in the poorer district of Musutafu, being accepted here was still...crazy for him. As confident and in control as he came off to as others, Kaze had thought that there was a limit to what he'd be able to do as a Hero. Before, he'd simply thought that he'd have to become a vigilante, and work towards his goal from there. He didn't have the funds or contacts to get into a place like Yuuei, after all - and he had been okay with that. Working his way from the bottom was something he was used to, and make no mistake, he would've clawed his way from the bottom or died trying.
But, a blessing had came to him for once in his life, in the form of a sponsorship. It was from a third party - some enigmatic man or woman that saw potential in him. It wasn't even a one-way ticket, just some paperwork and a large amount of money to get him on the list. It wasn't a recommendation, because he was a nobody, from a nobody school, descended from a nobody family. He was still forced to do the exams, and he still had to fight those annoying ass robots...but, in the end, he emerged victorious. Now, standing here in this courtyard, Kaze could honestly say that he was looking forward to what the future may bring. With the way things was shaping up to be, his dream of becoming number one was starting to become real. Now, with Yuuei on his side, Kaze knew that there wasn't a limit to what he was able to do. What he was able to be.
His sponsor made sure of that.
"I don't know who or what you are," he muttered to the wind, a slow, lazy grin beginning to spread among his lips, "But I gotta admit, I'm grateful. Just don't come whining to me when I blow your expectations outta the water."
A warm, gentle breeze responded to his statement, ruffling spiky locks of dark black hair.
...
...
"...Standing here introspecting isn't gonna excuse a tardy, will it?" Kaze muttered to himself in annoyance, lowering his gaze from the grand sight of Yuuei. Shouldering his backpack, the teen rested his hands in his pockets before making his way slowly to the entrance of the school. Each step was slow and deliberate, small dust particles flying up with each impact of his black and white Adidas touching the ground. One step, two step, three...man, he really didn't feel like going to class. As much as he loved the opportunity to attend Yuudai, they'd done nothing especially interesting in the entire week they were there. Still, he owed it to her memory to at least try. And he would try his absolute damnest, despite any complaints. This, he knew deep within his heart.
Ahhh, and the kids in his class were pretty amusing themselves. Cute, too. Getting to know 'em would be pretty fun.
It only took a couple of minutes to reach the classroom, after he got over his little moodlet and decided to walk faster than a snail's pace. Without an ounce of hesitation, Kaze casually and silently threw open the door to the classroom, just soft enough to where the doorknob didn't slam against the wall. Maybe his Quirk shifted the wind a little. Maaaybe.
'Super smooth entrance, accomplished. My Daily Quests are already being completed.' Kaze's usual grin formed on his lips as he quickly and easily took stock of the classroom. A good bit of students were already there, and he just so happened to memorize most of their names on the day of introductions. 'Kehehe, lucky me.' They had to appreciate his consideration, right?
"Bakubro, looking good." Kaze pointed at the scowling Bakugou, his grin widening as he smoothly transitioned the point into a thumbs-up. His sharp, half-lidded gaze moved to the left, and he tilted his head as he stared at Haru. Name, name...crap. He'd remember later, but for now...
"...You too, lil' kitty cat. Nice hair." He gave her the same thumbs-up with his opposite hand. Dropping the gestures into his pockets, the tall teenager made his way over to their little group of desks, for lack of any better place to sit. His way of walking was almost...uncanny, his back slightly slouched, but his presence still speaking of coiled danger, like a predator ready to lunge at any given moment. Without really checking to see if it was even his assigned seat or not, Kaze nimbly leaped onto the desk beside Bakugo and in front of Midoriya and Haru, resting his feet in the seat, and sitting his rump on the surface. He didn't really think about how he was casually approaching a group of almost-strangers.
He had always been a bit of a social butterfly.
Facing towards the three, Kaze rose a lazy hand in greeting. "Yo. How's school life treatin' you guys? Excited for the next eighty minute lecture? Because I sure am." Despite the rhetoric words, Kaze's voice was genuinely curious as he looked from the scowling Bakugo, to Midoriya, and back to Haru. His grin quirked even more as he looked at her, curiosity mixing with a fresh sense of amusement. Man, short people like Haru and Midoriya were such cuties. You could just pinch their rosy cheeks.
