The door swung open with a clang.
Lia looked up, automatically narrowing her hazel eyes when she saw more soldiers.
"Parker, our hunters caught more Wilds. Surprised this thing even broke loose in the first place." The first soldier laughed, motioning with his hand a cage that carried a Wild that looked like a fat dolphin, covered with cuts.
“Manatee.” Lia’s partner muttered, his voice muffled and his lip curled in disgust. The poor thing lay in a pool of blood, still pulverized.
“It’s Wolverine warrior was protecting it, all the blubberball was doing was flapping around the beach, barking, trying to escape!” The soldier laughed, beating his nightstick against his knee as they pulled in one more unconscious Wild, a wolverine boy. Lia stood, frozen with rage and glaring at the soldier. She could not say anything, though. Her tongue itched with a thousand unsaid retorts.
“Sir, I’m glad you caught the extremely unlikely couple together, but one more patient escaped. That Suki girl.” Lia’s partner interrupted. “Three more wilds were sighted, Foxgirl, the Tasmanian Devil, and that falcon thing.”
“Leopard brat?” The soldier hissed as soon as he dropped the two more prisoners off at their cells. Yes. Lia thought. Suki made it.
“Yeah, we’ll have to catch them around for some dinner. Todd scared them off, though. Heard he nearly killed that Asha girl.”
“Really? I wish I could have seen that!”
“Wounded her beyond belief, but let her go with just a few scars. A coward of a Wild.”
“Yes, and we still have schedule to catch the spider monkey, who was also in that batch of escapees.”
“Stupid Wilds. Need to get rid of.” Muttered the first soldier as he gave the manatee a rough kick. The poor thing didn’t even notice.

Asha let out a soft swear word when she saw how bloodied her fists and face was from that early tussle. Muttering darkly, she started to roughly wipe them off with moss, not caring if that just reopened. The journey seemed to take forever, even though usually she would just scale a tree and hop through. Not right now, though. Her shoulder was broken, and there were cuts all over her. She patted Shiver on the head, trying not to let the poor creatures’ whimper of concern touch her heart. Asha stood straight, not letting anybody else see her wounded pride. She was just as cold as ever, and proud of it, too. With that in mind, she started to sharpen her dagger, her large fox-ears twitching with her bushy red tail.
Maybe when I get better I could go bug the life out of the soldiers again.
(Azure, maybe we should do a mini-plot with Asha and Requiem, the fox pair. ^^ They could be building a series of tunnels that link around the island or something and go right to the Asylum, and plant traps, and stuff.)
