He didn't feel entirely bad for Silver. He could have gone about everything in a far different manner yet he had taken a rather criminal path to search for his answers. That was something he couldn't entirely forgive. Not to mention he had almost always been rude toward him and their personalities clashed more times than not. Nonetheless he left the topic rest. There was no reason to continue on about the boy. "Well I'm sure the forest will end eventually and give to some other kind of land. I'm sure there will be interesting stuff here," he assured her. He knew the forest wasn't the most interesting thing around, but at least it was a different change from Johto. He needed that for a bit. Johto had gotten a bit stale lately then again he hadn't been traveling much in recent years and he had tried to start living a rather quiet life or at least as quiet as he could as champion. Hearing her next comment about him being her first friend, he quirked a brow slightly. It was a bit odd that at her age she didn't have any friends but he decided not to much some snarky comment about it. "Eh, come on now. You have your Pokemon too. Certainly they are your friends now aren't they?" He figured she meant human friend, but nonetheless he thought he would make the point. It was a good one to make.

Ever since they had arrived at the beach, the officer had kept her distance from the others and kept rather quiet. For her it was strange to be in such a group. The champions were not so much a bother to her, though seeing there were several younger ones she questioned the amount of experience the group as a whole had. Crossing her arms over her chest, her gaze moved down to Brighid whom sat beside her. The Arcanine was quite attentive at the moment. No surprise there. She was trained in such a manner given the role that her trainer had. Finley hadn't made her occupation clear to many that were present. As far as she was concerned all that had been stated of her line of work had been that one of the trainers within the group was an international police officer and nothing more than that. It hadn't been directed at her or anyone else. She figured it wouldn't be hard for them to figure it out given the way she held herself, but at least the ordinary trainers would have no clue. Straightening her posture, she looked around quietly and studied the others. Most seemed to simply be conversing and very few had actually taken off. She would have thought they'd be more excited to leave and explore. Shaking the thought off she lifted a hand to push back the brim of her hat. Maybe soon she would take off on her own and go against the orders the Johto champion had given. It would at least give her something to do.

As the other trainer approached, a growl escaped Brighid's throat, but the woman was quick to dismiss her companion and quiet her down. Averting her gaze from her Pokemon, Finley's amber eyes locked on to the male before her. She noted that he seemed eager to introduce himself. She figured he was looking for a partner given that he was alone, though she had seen him with whom she assumed was one of the champions. It seemed the other woman was conversing with someone else now though. That must have been when lead him to her. Staying silent for a moment as she studied himself, she dropped her arms from her chest and folded them behind her back though her posture stayed a regal as possible. It almost made it seem as if she saw herself above the others. It didn't even phase her in the slightest. Listening to the male's words, she gave a small nod of her head. So he was just one of the other trainers. She'd have to note that. "Pleasure to meet you," she began, her voice sounding rather monotonous at the moment. "I am Finley. A Kalos trainer." It was short and simple. She liked it that way. By no means did she not enjoy talking, but she had always been a bit distant when first meeting people.

For someone who appeared to be an adult this male certain had too much energy for her liking, though she said nothing of it. She would put up with it for now. Her Pokemon seemed to be in the same boat as her. She could tell from Brighid's posture that she was unamused, yet keeping her composure the best she could. Moving a hand to the Arcanine's back, she gave her a reassure pat followed by a curt nod of her head. "I see. I have visited Unova on several occasions as well as several of the other regions," she responded though her voice continued to stay monotonous. She figured her travels would bring forth questions and even raise why she had done such. Of course she couldn't simply say it was for her line of work. It might give away what she did and that was not something she planned on doing. She'd have to come up with some other reason for why she did such. It wouldn't be all that hard.

"Sure, you can say it's something like that," she said plainly. At least his assumption would save her from needing to come up with some other excuse. Trying to bare with his excitement over his legendary, the officer gave a curt nod of her head before fixing her gaze on Brighid. Removing her hand from the canine's back caused the beast to climb to its feet and give a soft snort. "Brighid, I plan on leaving the beach soon. Would you please go examine the area around here for me and find the best path to take and explore?" The fire type gave a nod of its head and for the first time left Finley's side. It was obvious that she was well trained in obedience and the woman was grateful for that. It hadn't been her own doing though Brighid had been with her since the start. Their training at the academy was what ultimately made the Arcanine the way she was. Once the large canine disappeared into the treeline, her gaze moved back to the male before her and once again she folded her arms behind her back. "Was there are reason you approached me or were you just looking for small talk?"
