"Well," said Max,tucking her thumbs into the belt-loops in her jeans, "Most people just call this 'the town' and the outskirts 'the country'. There's nothing past the edge of the country- just fields of grain but no farmers to farm them. If you keep walking, you'll go for seven days before finding yourself back on the other side of the town. Believe me, Sonja and I tried. There's nothing there but wheat." The human girl shrugged. Sonja flicked her head a bit so her golden-brown braid would be tossed over her shoulder, since it was tickling her neck. Then she looked at the girl and said, "As for how we got here...." she shrugged. "No idea."

Graciously taking David's hand for assistance (although Christolph wasn't sure if the elder male could handle his weight) he used it as enough leverage to slowly stand upright once again. "Vending machine?" Christolph mulled over the phrase several times in his head; working on deconstructing the actual meaning. 'Vend' meant to sell something, and even though he was from 1891, there were machines that were simple enough for him to understand that word...but combined, he had difficulty in imagining a machine that sold items; the completed mental image was far more complex than the actual thing. Starting to walk side by side with David, Christolph decided to press his mind towards other matters.

"I appreciate your concern...I do not do vell in the heat. Kommes from living in a cooler climate. Du also despise this veather?" He had noticed that David was sweating a bit, but it was important to note that the burly German was not at all despite his complaints about the hot afternoon. His flesh being naturally clammy was now as warm as any human, and that was enough to make him nauseous. He noted that the others were following, and was slightly comforted by it...but not in the sense that he enjoyed their presence; more on the notion that they all contained pieces to the puzzle, and he was more than anxious to figure it out once he got his body cooled down.

OOC: My apologies for the late post, just got a new computer and the time to actually sit down and type a post.

Hearing Sonja's remark, Hunter realized it was true. He remembered a time when he first came when he had tried to escape, but ended up on the outskirts of the other side of town, and had to run back without being noticed. He had thought it strange at the time, but over the years forgot about it.
Noticing Christolph clear discomfort, he fished out a quarter from his cargo pants' pocket (which were filled with all kinds of odd and ends), inserted into a vending machine outside the post office door, and bought a iced water. He handed it to Christolph. "I don't know if you drink anything besides blood, but even if you don't, it'll feel good against your forehead," he said in an undertone.
Signature under construction. I might get around to it within a century.

Approaching the post office gave Christolph a deep sense of contentment like he'd been on an extensive and quite exhausting quest. The modestly sized building had indeed incorporated various types of architecture as if it had been expanded during the years, but he didn't analyze it too much. His drive to get inside was halted by a group of little old biddies slowly making their way out the doors at a snail's pace; chattering amongst themselves like a proper assortment of hens. His attention turned to Hunter who was approaching a large box with a shiny exterior that was at least six feet high.

Christolph noticed buttons on the outside of this strange box, and then he watched as Hunter inserted a coin into a slot, pushed one of the buttons, and then in less than a second a bottle rumbled down to a shoot at the bottom. When handed the water, Christolph was still mesmerized by the machine to say anything. He was a man for details, not necessarily inclined towards machinery, but perplexed and curious enough to ponder how the box worked. Had he been more mechanical, Christolph probably would have tried to force the vending machine open...it was for the best that he was not.

"Thank you..." He wasn't sure how to respond when the bottle was clear like glass but flexible, and not to mention cold...very cold. Christolph came from a time period where frigerators were still under development (and available only to the wealthy or commercial), iceboxes were commonly used, but he never expected to see something of such caliber sitting on the street for public use. Not to mention that his knowledge of plastic was limited since during his time it was still being toyed with by scientists. Christolph finished examining the bottle by opening it and taking a long drink until it was entirely empty and then tossing it into a nearby trashcan. "Blood has a lot of vasser in it, so mein body can handle it." Speaking in a low tone, Christolph felt his internal temperature lower dramatically due to the drink, and he removed his sunglasses so that he could look directly into Hunter's eyes.

"It vos not in mein expectations to receive such kindness...I vill not forget it."

Madeava nodded slowly at the answer, not exactly sure what to make of it. In the back of her mind though, she had the feeling that she was undoubtedly stuck with no way home. To keep herself from hysteria though, she wouldn't dare go any farther with the thought. She was feeling better now any way, at least a little. With the men gone she was at least that much more at ease. "Thank you." She finally mumbled, not really sure what else to say. Some of her felt she should ask for help, or something, anything to get her from awkwardly wandering about the town. Some place safe, that's what she really wanted; somewhere dark and quiet where she could be left absolutely alone.

OOC:: Weeeeell, that was a mostly useless post.

Shadows all around you as you surface from the dark
Emerging from the gentle grip of night's unfolding arms
Darkness, darkness everywhere, do you feel all alone?
The subtle grace of gravity, the heavy weight of stone

-----------------
you are the moon
-----------------
You don't see what you possess, a beauty calm and clear
It floods the sky and blurs the darkness like a chandelier
All the light that you possess is skewed by lakes and seas
The shattered surface, so imperfect, is all that you believe

David watched and chuckled a bit as Christolph gulped down the whole bottle of water. He wasn't exactly paying much attention to the undertoned speaking the two passed between themselves, but it took a few moments for the words to reach his mind. After all, he was standing right there, he still heard it. The old man's chocolate brown eyes went wide, as he played the mumblings over in his head. "I don't know if you drink anything besides blood..." "Blood has a lot of vasser in it, mein body can handle it..."
His mouth dropped slightly open, almost like a fish brought up for air, and it took a few seconds before he could croak out "What?"
Hope is the thing with feathers, that perches in the soul.
And sings the tune, without the words,
And never stops at all.

Sonja turned hurridly to David, mouth slight open in surprise. "Ah..." she said, for lack of anything more intelligant. She was an awful liar- she always left that bit for Max. And, right on cue, her friend stepped in to help out. "It's nothing, David. Hunter and Christolph are attending a Videogame Convention later this week, so they're praticing staying in character."

[I think I posted that they ran to catch up with Hunter, David, and Christolph as soon as she got up, but maybe not...?]
