"Good morning, David!" called Max, waving at him. He was sort of like a kindly grandfather, to her and most of the others in this small community, since most of them didn't have a family of their own. She looked up at the sky and smiled slightly- it was going to be a nice, cloudless summer day. She passed David's house and came up to the one belonging to her friend, Sonja. She rapped smartly on the door, and a tall girl with golden-brown hair opened it, looking as if she had just been planning to come out. "Oh, good morning!" she said brightly, braiding her hair quickly and tying it up. "I was just thinking of going down town for a special breakfast- want to join me?" Max grinned. "Sounds good. You know, I had the strangest dream last night." Sonja raised her eyebrows, motioning for Max to continue. Although she looked younger than her friend, the taller girl was, in reality, somewhere close to twenty-four years old. A pair of small blue horns poked through her hair at the top of her head, something that most people found odd but didn't mention. "Well," said Max, "I was on an island, and there was a forest." The two friends started walking towards the city square, where Tina's Hometown Cafe sat on the corner of Birch and Main. "And I was looking for something to eat. I think I had a spear, and I was hunting it. It was dark, so I could see much. And then this giant cat leaps down from the trees and starts chasing me, and as I run past some brambles I cut my leg, trip, and it's looming over me... and then I woke up, but I noticed this." She brought one foot up and held it in her hands as she stood on one leg, pointing to a thin scar on her right ankle. "And I wonder, do you think such a thing could really have happened?" Sonja shrugged, then laughed. "I don't think that's even possible. You'd remember, if it had."
