Long, long ago the gates of ζωής, or the gates of "Life," were left open to allow the world to evolve. New species came and went, and nature was strong and abundant. Eleven gems were inlaid around the gate, each representing a factor of Life. These were known as, "Diversity, Purity, Vivacity, Creation, Wonder, Beauty, Uniqueness, Mortality, Brilliance, Death, and Awe," and each kept the gate open so the earth could change.
Yet, as fate would have it, the pure world the gate promised was never meant to last forever. They closed and the gems were scattered. In reality, the entity of chaos and destruction, Καταστροφή, was gathering and took advantage of the closed gates, wreaking havoc across the globe. Before long, the world was a barren wasteland, void of its previous beauty, and the wonders of nature. It was then that the Seer discovered a prophecy, a good omen, a promise of hope, written on the crystal wall of the gate.

Diversity is represented by a gem that looks very much like an opal. Throughout the stone is a vast array of colors, some that have never been named before. It is by far and away the most stunning gem out of the eleven.
Purity is a milky white gem that seems to glow. As it represents innocence and purity (as its name points out), it bears not a single scratch or mark. It is absolutely smooth.
Vivacity is a fuschia gem. It has been said that it seems to pulse under touch, as though it truly were alive.
Creation is a deep, rich emerald green gem. One of the strangest of all eleven gems, at first glance, it appears gray, but slowly and surely if one watches, green begins to seep into it and "blooms" like a plant until it reaches its beautiful color.
Wonder is a light turquoise blue gem that shines. A sense of wonder (conveniently) fills the beholder.
Beauty is sapphire blue gem that seems to speak of the most beautiful places on earth with a single color. It is hard to describe its majesty until one sees it.
Uniqueness is a color gem that is the color of the rising sun. It's quite beautiful and unlike any of the other gems.
Morality is a purple gem, resembling the amethyst. Its dignified color is supposed to represent the values of human life.
Brilliance is a pure, crystal gem that resembles a very large diamond. If even the slightest ray of light touches it, the faces of the gem erupt into a sparkling show.
Death is a gem that changes from crimson red to maroon, like a rose's petals withering.
Awe is a very subdued orange-colored gem. It sparks a strange feeling of reverence in those that see it.
