"Yes," agreed Sonja quietly, her tone slightly embarrassed. She turned and walked back towards the house, pausing on the front porch to tell him, "The bathroom is down the hall and to the left, if you want to take a shower." Carefully opening the screen door- which now hung at a skewed angle due to a broken hinge- Sonja went inside and righted the chair that she had knocked over in her rush to the door. Then the girl went into the kitchen and caught a glimpse of her reflection in a dirty pot that was sitting by the sink. Her golden hair was sooty, her face smudged with dirt and grease. Her blue horns had become dulled, so now they resembled the color of a sick fish. The girl grabbed the pot angrily and scooped the crushed phone out of the sink with her other hand, tossing it into the garbage before grabbing a sponge and scrubbing at the pot furiously. This everyday task of dish washing cleared her mind and calmed her, made her forget for the moment about the shooting, about Shax, perhaps even about Eli. At the thought of his name, she picked up a dish and began scrubbing madly again. It was mostly frustration with herself- he was too nice to be angry at. Sonja, the sensible part of her mind said, Don't be silly. You may be his age, but you resemble a fourteen-year-old girl. He's only sticking around to protect you, because you're too weak to protect yourself. As soon as your ribs heal, he'll leave, and everything will go back to the way it was. She countered her own thoughts with, Do I really want that? I mean, what about the revolution? Her mind scoffed back at her haughtily. Revolution? Dear girl, the smoke has made you quite mad indeed. Do you really think that one halfling and one human can do anything against the hundreds of thousands, millions, even billions of humans in the world? Just one, armed with a gun and a steady aim... Why, you wouldn't stand a chance. They'd blow you to smithereens before you could say, 'Mercy'.

Josh was sitting down on a bench in the park. He had a pencil, almost down to the nub that he was quickly sketching with. Every few seconds he would glance up at a beautiful daisy. He would bite at his lip and looked back down, sketching again. His notepad was resting neatly on his legs. He glanced at it again, then glanced at his sketch, and back at the daisy. He shrugged and started to color it in. When he was done, he looked at the daisy, and down at his sketch. "Maybe I didn't do that quite right..." he muttered, then sighed.

Eli followed Sonja back to the house, leaving the flaming wreckage to the firefighters that he could hear screaming towards them. As they walked through the door, he made a mental note of the door. He would fix it when they woke up. When Sonja offered the shower to him, he quickly took up the opportunity. He followed her drections and it wasn't long before he found himself in the bathroom. He looked around for a moment, taking in the surroundings. The room wasn't small, but it wasn't large either. Their was a shower, a sink, and a toilet. It was simple. Just how he liked it. He walked over to the shower and leaned over to turn it on. Icy cold water came rushing out of the shower head and he backed away to keep from getting wet. Then he took off his clothes and set them neatly on the toilet seat to keep them out of the reach of the spluttering shower. He walked back over to the shower and checked the temperature with his hand. It was steaming with heat and he quickly stepped in, pulling a curtain shut behind him. The water was just right and it seemed to envelope him in its warmth. This was something that he relished. It had been a couple of days since his last shower and he had been looking forward to the next one. He watched for a moment as all of the top layer of dirt, grease, and blood from a few scratches streamed off of his bare skin and down to his toes only to be swept away by the current and sucked down the drain. He reached over for a bar of soap and began to clean himself. Once he was finished, he rinsed himself and then grabbed a bottle of shampoo. He squirted some out into his hand and lathered it up in his hair. After a couple of minutes, he rinsed out his hair as well and merely stood for a couple more minutes as he relished the hot water before reaching behind him to shut it off.
He opened the curtain and stepped out of the shower. The room was now thick with steam from the heat of the shower and the mirror that was hung above the sink was completely hazed over with fog. It took him a moment to find the towels, but eventually he found them tucked away in the cupboard beneath the sink. The towel was light blue and plush. He took the towel and began to dry himself. Once he had finished, her wrapped the towel around his waist and tucked it so that it would say. Then he shook out his hair as if he were a dog, sending droplets of water flying. Then he walked over to the toilet and picked up his clothes, noticing that his shirt was completely soiled. He dropped the towel so that it was now around his ankles and grabbed his pants and pulled them on. After zipping them up and buttoning them, he picked up his shirt and went to the door. When he opened it, he was greeted with a rush of cold air. Shirtless,he made his way back to the living room. "Hey Sonja. Do you think that I could was my shirt?" he asked her. He hated imposing, but his shirt needed to be cleaned. He stood patiently waiting for her reply.

Sonja turned from the sink with a response to Eli's question on her lips, but it froze on the tip of her tongue when she noticed he wasn't wearing a shirt. One arching brown eyebrow raised of its own accord, then the girl forced it down and nodded casually towards a room that connected to the back door of her house, like a mudroom. It contained a small wooden bench below a window, as well as a washer and an old-timey clothes wringer. She hadn't bought a dryer, since it was simpler just to wring out the small amount of clothes she had by hand on washing day. Sonja turned back to her dishes, trying to ignore the fact that Eli was obviously well-muscled, as well as ruggedly handsome. Girl, the voice in her head chuckled, Don't even think about him. He's not going to stick around. Although Sonja agreed with the voice, she hoped for some reason that Eli would stay.

Eli watched as Sonja's eyebrow rose and he tied desperately not to smile until he got to the washroom. He found the detergent easily and set the dial after throwing his shirt into the washer. He turned it on and then walked back out of the room and over to Sonja. He made sure not to let her hear him until he was right behind her. He reached around her and took the dish that she had been cleaning out of her hand and leaned over so that he could whisper into her ear. "Go to bed." he said gently. "You've had a long night. I'll take care of this for you when we wake up." He set the dish down on the counter and then took her by the shoulders. He then proceeded to turn her so that she would now be facing her bedroom door. "Go on Sonja. You need your rest."

[Pi and the square root of negative one are having an argument. After a while, the square root of negative one shouts at pi, "Why can't you just be rational?!" to which pi responds,"Oh, get real!"]

Sonja reached up and gently touched one of his hands with hers, turning her head to smile first at Eli, then to glance at the clock behind him. "My goodness," she said with a wide yawn, "it's almost six in the morning." She walked into her bedroom with the air of one desperately fighting sleep, glanced back to say, "Goodnight- or should I say, good morning?" Then she closed the door gently and slipped out of her nightgown, grimacing at the singed holes in the blue fabric. She hung it over the end of her bed and pulled on pajama pants and a soft gray shirt, then flopped onto the bed and fell asleep almost instantly, only vaguely aware of Mona and Maya, somehow managing to get in and curl up beside her.

~Shax Reace~
Why are they; whoever 'they' are, killing off the Reaces. It doesn't make sense. Shax thought, as he arrived in his study, he switched on the lights and slipped out his jacket. He dropped the Jacket on the back of a chair and then walked over to the sideboard, he glanced up at the mirror that the sideboard held and sighed as he saw his appearance. His T-shirt was burnt, his face was covered in soot, and his hair was matted and filled with ash. Shax started towards the door to his bedroom, pulling off his T-shirt as he went and tossing it in to a waste paper basket. He glanced down at his feet and saw that his boots were leaving a trail of sooty footprints on the expensive carpet, so he kicked them off and leant down to pull off his socks. He undid his belt, and pulled off his Jeans and left them all in a pile in front of his bed. Now only wearing boxers Shax stepped in to the bathroom, and after turning on the hot water and testing its heat Shax stepped out of his boxers and in to the hot water.

Eli smiled, happy that Sonja hadn't rejected the idea. He wasn't surprised by how early in the morning it was and when she yawned, he yawned too. He watched her go, but didn't have a chance to say goodnight to her, so instead, he walked back over to the couch where he had been a crashed, practically falling asleep the second his head hit the pillow. It didn't surprise him that he was so tired after such an exciting day; however, he was used to it. When he stayed at the taverns, he would often stay up late to party with the other people that came in. He would also pick up the occasional girl, but of course, tonight wasn't a normal night and he could tell that after tonight, everything would change.

~Shax Reace~
Shax turned off the water and stepped out of shower. He started to dry himself off with a hug fluffy white towel, and he wrapped another, smaller towel, around his hips. After he had dried off his hair, and torso, Shax walked over to his chest of draws and pulled out from clothes. He put on black boxers, blue jeans, black socks, leather boots, a black muscle shirt, a leather belt, and a silver necklace with a cross pendant. He then folded the towels and put them on the bed, and left the room to be cleaned up later.
