"And... why is that?" Aria asked, sounding nearly skeptical...

"Because she refuses to see I love her."

Aria gave him a 'seriously?' look and shifted carefully, then returned to stroking Kylar's hair. "Well... We accept the love we think we deserve, you know," she said thoughtfully. "She likes mushrooms, by the way." Aria watched Erik, thinking. "I can see it, the way you feel about her. Everyone can. Rach is probably just hormonal or depressed or afraid or stressed, or some combination. Hell, maybe all of it." She nodded.

"I know." Erik replied, "I gave her some space, so she can have a good time with the wolves."

[Shellpepper]

"With the wolves?" Aria repeated, questioning. "I'm on medication, how about no metaphores, okay?" She smiled, drearilly. "What do you mean?"

Erik looked at her, "Sang and Nuit, her pet wolves..."

Aria looked at him blankly for a moment and then remembered. "Oh!" She laughed once. "I get it..." she shook her head slowly. "I thought they were in here some place..."

Erik shook his head, "They were in the barn last time I saw them." he said as he worked on the food.

Aria nodded, not really caring. "Well... What... um... time is it?"

"Hmm, eight-ish I would say." Erik said as he looked out the window.
