After a good night's sleep, the castle awoke to a bright and warm sun streaming through it's windows. Getting ready for her first class, Professor Bell opened the windows of her classroom to let some light in before going down to the Great Hall for breakfast. As usual, she was one of the first there, apart from Headmistress McGonagall, who always had a knack for being the first one to the mealtimes. Taking her seat at the head table, the professor sat to wait for the rest of the castle.
“I read somewhere, once, that crying defies scientific explanation. Tears are only meant to lubricate the eyes. There is no real reason for tear glands to overproduce tears at the behest of emotion.
I think we cry to release the animal parts of us without losing our humanity. Because inside of me is a beast that snarls, and growls, and strains toward freedom, toward Tobias, and, above all, towards life. And as hard as I try, I cannot kill it.
So I sob into my hands instead.”
