"Wow Rosie, Wow!" Raven said shaking her head. "Every year you complain!" Raven sat back and listened to her friend babble her head off. She sighed and slipped out of the conversation. Her mind wandered and she saw the unforgetable memories of why she can see threstrals. She shuddered and pushed them away.

"Cold? Yah I guess its kinda chilly." Rose, like her father, wasnt good at knowing when it was the right time to keep her mouth shut. She was a very complicated mix between her parents. Funny and sarcastic, but terrible with timing and keeping quiet during those dramatic times like her father, yet extremely smart and quite attractive with a hint of know-it-all attitude like her mother. She was her own person, never trying to be someone else and happy with being herself, with friends, family and complete strangers. some may say its a bad trait, but it works very well for Rose. "So, Whadya think we will be doing this year? I cant wait for Care of Magical Creatures! Its been my favorite subject since, well, since forever!" As if you couldnt tell. She also enjoyed Transfiguration and, surprisingly, Potions. Nearing the school, she wondered why everyone seemed to be so quiet. It was starting to worry her a little.

Sparrow sat in the Griffindor common room, She spread her Potion books across the red sofa. I have to finish this homework for next lesson she thought with stress, She looked at question one, How long does it take for a Polyjuice potion to brew? Easy! She thought as she squiggled One month against her notebook. Question two, What is the effect of this potion? Sparrow began to chew her quial as she thought about the question. Was this the transformation potion or the one that cures colds? she thought as she quickly turned pages through her potion's study book. She quickly scribbled down that it allows the drinker to assume a form of another. She looked at her watch, this was taking her a long time she sighed. She only hoped she had someone to talk to.

A large group of Gryffindors ran up the stairs towards the common room. By now, even with the moving stairs, everyone knew exactly where to go. Chatting to friends or portraits, all the Gryffindors climbed the stairs quickly, passing by other houses and saying 'Hi' occasionally. Finnaly reaching the seventh floor, the prefect let them in. "Password" The fat lady in the picture startled the first years in the front. "Fortuna Major" and the fat lady's portrait slid open. "Boys dormitories on the right, and girls on the left. Your luggage has already been taken upstairs." The prefect instructed the first years on how to get around the castle, while everyone else went upstairs. Rose was one of the first to come back down, when she noticed Sparrow on the couch. "When did you get here? I didnt see you in the great hall for dinner?" Rose sat in the large scarlet arm chair to the left of the couch, near the fireplace that lit itself as they entered. "Studying already? Wow, thats so like you." Rose wondered if she should be studying as well, but put it off for tomorrow, she already skimmed through all her books before she came.

Sparrow looked up from her books at Rose, "I wasn't hungry," She mumbled, "I thought I'll come up here early to start on some Potion studies." She slightly chuckled, She scribbled down the last of her notes before turning towards the ginger-haired girl "How was your summer vacation?" She started to put her books away in her rucksack she liked to carry around. She shuffed towards the end of the crimson couch to get closer towards the fire. A blue-sliver, long-haired cat jumped onto the couch, "Smokey." Sparrow picked the cat up and placed her on her lap, stroking her fur. The cat purred, leaning into Sparrow's hand.

"Eh, It was okay. Didnt do much. Kind of a waste of a summer if you ask me. Well, we did do into Diagon Alley. The only reason I go there is for school supplies and the joke shop. My uncle runs it! Its a crazy place, You ever been?" Rose thought of all the items she bought at Weasley's Wizard Wheezies. She really wanted the pink Pigmy Puff. It was truly adorable. She got a few Puking Pasties, couple Love Potions and a few quills that spell check or have color changing ink. Rose didnt know exactly why she bought them since she'd never skip class, and she always spells correctly. She wasnt too interested in a love potion, she had no one to use it on. It was all 'just in case" as she put it.

Mia watched the other kids pile out of the great hall. The room was half-empty before she finally hauled herself out of her seat and into the hallway leading to the Hufflepuff common room. "Deletrius" She hissed under her breath, and slipped into the common room. She settled herself in a chair near the fire and began humming a melody her mom had taught her. She stared blankly at the fire, unknowingly starting to sing the melody aloud. "Listen to your heaart." She hummed quietly, forgetting, for a moment, that the entire house could probably hear her.

Zach was in his dorm unpacking. He stuck pictures of his family up behind his bed, and smiled when he saw little Jimmy wave at him out of the ebony frame. Zach came from a pretty big family. He was the middle child, with three older and three younger siblings. There was Tanya, who was nearly 25 and married, Jacob, 23 and already a father. Then there was Alex who had just graduated last year and was currently a bachelor. His two younger sisters, Liz and Lexie, were 12 and 8 respectively. Liz was attending Beauxbatons school for girls instead of Hogwarts, for which Zach was glad. Liz was a difficult person to get along with. Lexie on the other hand was the sweetest girl in existence, at least according to her brothers. Then there was 5 year old Jimmy, who was a mini version of Zach himself. Zach smiled at the picture, then returned to unpacking, lost in thought.

Rose was looking around the room. It was very warm, and calm. The arm chair was her favorite place to sit. Leaning back, she closed her eyes, she was very happy. Suddenly, she frowned. "Has anyone seen Crookshanks? I just noticed, she hasnt come in." "Maybe, she got stuck outside the common room" A second year suggested. "No Ive already checked" Where did that good for nothing, furball gone? "So no ones actually seen her?"
