Although he had no idea how he got there, he decided to start exploring this new...timeline. As he neared Snowdin, a pang of sadness sprung, as he had lost all the data. He remembered all the memories he had there. As he was revisiting his memories, he wasn't looking and stumbled across Chara, bumping her.
