Yugioh ZEXAL: A New Utopia (Plot up!)

"Not with your deck, you're not. Here at the Duel Sanctuary, we use a certain kind of deck to get the lesson you came to learn across. I'd say it's a rather fitting deck for the situation, considering how unusual it is." Kaze moved towards a pedestal near where he had been standing, removing from it a deck of cards that seemed to be carved from wood. Oh, how this deck brought back memories of his youth, that nostalgic feeling not quite as undesirable as others. At the same time, it was not without that bittersweet feeling. "You'll soon find out that these statues are here for yet another reason, but I digress. I shall use half of this deck, and you will use the other half. With it, you will learn how to move your monsters in the truest sense of the word." Saying this, Kaze shuffled the deck before dividing it in half, holding one of the two new piles out for Regina to take while taking the other for his own.

Regina gave the man a confused look before dropping her eyes to the half of the wooden deck that was offered to her. Still the teen took the wooden pile of hand carved cards. How were the two supposed to duel with a deck of cards like these anyway and what kind of cards were in it? Regina would find out soon enough.

Walking over to the other side of the field, Kaze activated his own duel gazer and duel disk. As he slotted the deck into its place, the reality around them changed into the augmented duel reality. There on his field were two statues, just as there were two on her own. "At the beginning of this duel, two legends are summoned to our side of the field. On yours stand Statue Hero Neos and Cyber Statue while my own field holds Statue 39: Utopia and Blade Armor Statue." True enough, the statues of these monsters had appeared on the field. Regina had before her the statue of a mighty hero who seemed to be extraterrestrial in appearance as well as a dragon that, were it not for the wood it had been carved from, would have been more mechanical in appearance. His own held monsters he had knowingly chosen. Blade Armor Statue was a depiction of one of his greatest allies, one of his greatest friends. The other was chosen because of what it stood for to the girl. "As you can see, all of our monsters are but statues frozen. They have no attack and no defense, nor do they have any effects. You will have to find the key to awakening them from their slumber."

Regina was about to ask how Kaze expected either of them to duel with the monsters if they had no attack or defense points, as well as not being able to use special abilities. Thats when the man said she'd have to find the key to freeing all four monsters on her own. "So it's up to me? Then this is going to be a long duel because I have no idea how to do that, and we can't even defend if our monsters don't move.", the teen said casting a glance at the deck of cards she was borrowing, "There's only one move I can make." Reaching for the deck Regina removed the top card,"I draw!", and looked at it. That single glance was all it took for the girl's mind to change as she set it on her disk,"I take that back! Say hello to the Statue Zone Field Spell! This bad by should do the trick, because it's effect lifts the seals on all Statue Monsters! Meaning things are about to get epic! Time to party everybody!" With the Field Spell activated, the eyes of all four statues began to glow and cracks began to form over their surfaces. When the lights broke each monster's attack points instantly rose. Neos gained 2500 attack points, Cyber Dragon gained 2100, Utopia gained 2500 and Blade Armor Ninja gained 2200 attack points. "Now that they are free and have some backbone, Statue Hero Neos can attack and destroy Blade Armor Statue! Do it Neos!", the young duelist commanded as the alien-like warrior jumped into the air headed right for the imitation of said ninja.

"I'm afraid not, because Statue 39 has a special ability. By decreasing his attack by 1000, he has the ability to stop your attack short. Certainly, you learned how to unlock the power of the Statue monsters, but doing so came at the price of giving my monsters their abilities." This Utopia was different from its counterpart as there were no Statues that could build the overlay network. So Kaze had designed this card to utilize its effect in a manner just as risky as the original's. Surely Regina should have known this much could happen. So the monster, now unleashed from its frozen state, moved to intercept the attack by shielding Blade Armor Statue with one of its wings.

Well that was a surprise and a disappointment. The girl had weighed the attack points of the four monsters against each other and chosen the right monster to attack with as well as its target. Still it was foiled. Sure Blade Armor Statue was safe from destruction, but now Utopia was weakened enough for her second monster to move in and strike. This training duel was turning out to be just what she needed after all. Thanks to Kaze lowering the imitation Number's attack like he had, the object of her less pleasant feelings could be struck down. Even if it shared it's counterpart's ability to not be destroyed it could be hit and her new teacher would still feel the stinging result. "In that case I'll just switch targets. Cyber Statue Dragon, pick up where your teammate left off and attack Statue Utopia!", Regina ordered as the snake-like mechanical beast roared charging what would be a blast of energy from it's maw.

Kaze did not even flinch when the attack came towards Utopia, and he had good reason for doing so. Even when the burst of energy struck its target, even when the statue version of Utopia shattered, he did not flinch. It was all part of the symbolic process he was prepared to make Regina face. Destroying Utopia was the first step, and the next was there in his hand. Certainly, it cost him life points, but such a sacrifice was worth it to help the girl achieve her full potential by learning what she did not currently understand. "That was a good attack, one that I foresaw coming when Utopia purposely lowered its attack to protect Blade Armor Statue. However, you will soon learn that your troubles aren't that easy to get rid of."

It seemed that the statue only copied one of it's counterpart's abilities after all. Watching the winged warrior shatter and fade away brought a triumphant grin to the teen's face. She had been the first to reduce the other's life points in the duel. It was one less neusince in her way. "That's one monster down and one more to go. If you had lowered Utopia's attack one more time then he'd still be around, even though his points would be far from what you'd need to take on either of my monsters.", said Regina as she set a card face down,"But I'm good so it's your turn now Master."

Drawing a card, Kaze had to resist the urge to smirk. Smirking wasn't the right response to any situation, not if he wanted to keep from retreating back into his old ways. "I will have you know that I am an expert of ninja tricks, and here is one of them. I activate the spell card Bait Doll, baiting your face-down card into being activated. If it is a trap and the timing is improper, its effect is negated and it is destroyed. So shall we see what you were hoping to use as a defensive measure?" When the wooden card activated, a straw doll appeared with an image of Regina's face-down card on it. A hammer and nail then appeared as the doll glowed and the image turned around to reveal the card beneath. Even if it wasn't a trap, Kaze would be able to tell exactly what she had hoped to defend herself with. If it was a trap and the timing was proper, she would have to use the effect immediately instead of waiting.

Regina grit her teeth as her facedown was forced to reveal itself. The card was indeed a trap card that went by the name Adversity. With all the legendary monsters around them and not knowing if Kaze could call on any of them other then the ones on their fields, this had been a precaution. Had Kaze summoned another one of the statues with a higher attack then either her hero or dragon and attacked with it, this card could have been activated. It's effect would then grant the targeted monster 1000 extra attack points, prevent it's destruction and Regina would not have taken any battle damage. But with Bait Doll this precaution was rendered totally useless.
