Lux had returned to her house some time ago, after the last of the students had finished their duels and the headmaster had said his closing speech. She didn't really listen to it, she had more important things on her mind. Marvel hung about for a bit, but she managed to shake him after a few minutes of short conversation. Alone, she traveled to her bedroom, removing her mask to reveal a pale, angular face, with two bright yellow, almond-shaped eyes. She pressed her hand to the wall, and, after a confirming glow and beep, a section slid open, revealing a pure white room, so uniform it was impossible to see where it ended. Lux set her mask on a stand beside the concealed door and stepped inside.

Commensing Ansible transmission.
The white room darkened to black, then filled with stars. Lux floated amidst a galaxy for a brief moment, then the room went white again, resolving into a large laboratory. A man stood in the corner, black hair hanging down the back of his white lab coat. He was working on something, but stopped when he noticed Lux.
"It's good to see you again. You haven't contacted me for some time, Lux."
His voice was twisted and distorted. Only natural, he was a very long way away, in all senses of the word.
"There wasn't much to report," Lux replied, with an inflection in her voice that would have been utterly alien to anyone else she knew. "I've been doing my best, but I don't seem to be making a dent."
"Well, we didn't expect much," Shado said. "You're only one woman, after all, even a pro duelist won't be too much of an influence. If it's any consolation, the ripple has slowed slightly. How goes the hunt for a substitute?"
"I may have discovered something on that front," Lux said. "During a match today I detected an unknown energy signature. I then detected again multiple times throughout the rest of the day. Following the signature led to the site of a duel, though it wasn't like any I'd seen before. It looked almost like a Psychic duel, but I haven't found any duelists in this city that would be capable of manifesting such power."
"Did the spin increase any?" Shado asked.
"Not that I could observe," Lux said. "I can't give you a better answer until I figure out what the source of the energy is. I've narrowed it down to a few individuals, I'll be monitoring them more closely in the coming weeks. There's a chance we can use this energy as a substitute."
"Hurry, Lux. We don't have much time." Shado's face was grim. Lux terminated the link and exited the chamber, sliding her mask back over her face. She would need to duel the green-haired girl again, and she'd need to push her to her limits. Maybe then she would reveal whatever the source of that energy was.
A black motorcycle exited the alleway next to Lux's house and sped off down the street. astride it was a white-suited rider wearing a pure white helmet. The rider's face couldn't be seen.
