Khnum exhaled loudly as the man left the shop and slumped down into one of the couches by the front doors, running a hand over his face. He needed a drink. Now. He drew himself up slowly from the chair and opened the door to the backroom, his private study. He closed it and then sat at the desk, materialized another glass of his drink, and began writing in hieroglyphs to calm his nerves. It was a shame no-one wrote in his language anymore. Thoth had worked hard to develop it. After a few lines, Trey got up from the desk and exited the store, locking the doors behind him. He then began walking down the street.
