Once Alex had decided that the crowds outside the cafe had thinned sufficiently, she got up from where she had been pretending to use a computer and stepped outside the cafe. None of the rude people from earlier were nearby, which was good, but there was also nobody she recognized. Alex scanned the crowd for familiar faces but got no results for quite a while. Eventually, though, she caught a flash of candy-corn orange out of the corner of her eye and automatically turned to see if it was coming from the horns of someone she recognized. It wasn't, but it was a troll, and they looked just as out-of-place in the city as she did. "You wouldn't have happened to see a tealblood with hair just like mine walking around here, right?" she asked as soon as she was close enough to the troll for him to be able to hear her easily over the crowd.
