Being one of the last students to be flung into the forest was not the most pleasant of experiences. Watching them flying through the air- gracefully or not- didn't help the nerves that had started bubbling up his throat. When he saw the person next to him get launched, he crouched down and prepared himself-mentally and physically. When he was launched, it took the faunus by surprise, and a yelp left him as he started to sail through the air. Glancing over the landscape, a abnormally large tree was very prominent and very in-his-way.

As nye was sailing towards the giant tree- that was he was most certainly going to fly into and splat like a bug- he took out his spear and pressed a button, watching it transform into a whip. With a strong (well) whip, he embedded the tip of it into a nearby tree- that wasn't the giant tree that was rapidly approaching- and swung around it. It did succeed in getting him away from the giant tree (that was now behind him) but now the ground was rapidly approaching. with an oof, he landed on his feet and skidded to a halt. he tugged his whip to un-embed the tip. he converted it back to a spear and stood there, taking in his surroundings

The blonde haired, green eyed huntress brushed herself off, picking her bow back up since it had fallen to the ground as well. She placed the weapon back on her back and looked up at the faunus, smiling brightly at her. "Don't mention it," she said, "It's definitely a good story to tell. I found my partner stuck in a tree, what about you? How funny is that?" Canary let out a chuckle before taking the girl's hand and jumping up. She brushed off her back before looking into the forest. "I suppose we should get a move on then! Can't say here or we will be found by a grimm." She took the girl by the wrist and began walking through the forest, keeping her eyes peeled for anything unusual.

Canary took her hand off of her partner's wrist and said "Oh sorry about that!" She rubbed the back of her neck in embarrassment as she continued on through the forest, wondering if they would run into any others. "It's such a huge forest you know, but you think we would run into others! Or even a grimm. I'm getting bored though, i'm ready for some grimm butt kicking time! Show off my skills and let my baby do the talking." She motioned to her weapon as she said 'her baby'.

The eagle faunus was quite a gentleman, but even a gentleman can find it hard to keep his cool when someone asks a question he does't like to answer. He let out a small sigh as she mentioned his mask, doing his best not to come up with some snippy comment that would drive her away. The last thing he needed was to be hated by his new partner. Mavi shook his head and said "No not really. It's just...there." That's all he said about the mask, leaving it mysterious as ever. Mavi had actually worn the mask ever since he was little. The mask was made by his mother when he asked her to help him hide his identity. No one even knows Mavi's past or why he would need to hide his identity, only Mavi knows that. Who even knows if that's his real name.

Mavi stayed pretty silent after she asked him that question, not because he was antisocial but because he just didn't know how to converse after the question she asked. It may not seem like much of a question to her, but to him it was personal. Mavi kept a hand on the hilt of his sword as he walked through the forest, as if he was waiting for a grimm to jump out at them. So far so good, but soon enough there may be danger that will face them. The eagle faunus looked over to Linnea after a small time of silence and said "So what is your weapon?"

Tarrik flew up into the air after getting directions from Ozpin. He held his arms crossed in front.of him to protwct his head while being thrown into the woodlands. Finally reaching the canopy he literally crashed through a few branches and slammed into the dirt. A few seconds later he stood up in the crater he left and brushed dirt from his shoulders before stepping up and looking around. Not a soul in si... Suddenly he heard cannon shots and turned in their direction, they seemed to be on the move. Quickly he grabbed his battle axe from its hook on his back and rushed after them. Finally he found his target, a faunus boy woth ginger hair, he seemed to have used his cannon to soften.the landing a bit, heh more strategic than his own landing. "you alright there?" he called out as he emerged from the woods

Natalie giggled softly as she was thrown into the air after doing a few flipps and spins she came to a soft landing onto a branch with ease. Within the second she hit the branch she was already bounding through the air again to a lower branch and again until she toiched down in the grass, her bare rabbit feetshifted on the grass softly as she took a breath. She was a rare faunus having the eara, tail and even the legs of a rabbit, this got her a lot of trouble from the humans she grew up around, but she never let it bring her down. After letting out her breath ashe looked around scanning the area and gave a little hop. While in the air she hokked her feet into two hanging parts of her backpack which wrapped around her lower legs to form a set of specialized boots. After that she did the same with her hands whose gaumtlets had a set of machineguns. And finally the backpack itself wrapped around her chest and covered her body in a thin dust shield "let's get this over with" she said with a sly grin and took off into the woods in search of an ally

Hearing his explanation, Linnea nodded her head in response. "It looks cool! I think it suits your outfit." She responded, giving him a smile. He did not seem like he enjoyed talking about the mask, so she did not want to dwell on the matter. He really did have an interesting outfit; a mask and a cape. Did he have something to hide? Maybe, but she was not going to ask. Trying not to think about the mystery of Mavi, she casted her gaze around the forest. It was oddly silent, and she did not like the silence. She felt like something was watching and slowly creeping up on them.

When he brought up a question, she focused her gaze on him. "It's a bo staff! It can turn into an archery bow." She responded, reaching her hand back to show the arrows in her quiver. She was very pleased with her weapon despite it sounding so simple. She made the weapon, after all. Before she can ask about his weapon, she heard a roar coming from the trees. Hearing it off in the distance, she transformed her bo staff into an archery bow. She knocked an arrow into the bow, pointing it in the direction of the roaring. Suddenly, several Ursas appeared from the trees. She released the arrow, and it sunk into one of the Ursas' shoulders.

Noticing the male's cheeks darkened, Nuada wondered if he was uncomfortable with touching someone. He decided not to question it and make sure he did not unnecessarily touch him again. He did not want to make his new partner uncomfortable around him. When Rouge asked if he favored melee, he gave a grin and nodded his head. "Mhm! I don't like standing back to shoot something. I'd much rather rush in and take out the enemy." He responded, walking alongside Rouge and watching their surroundings. "I wonder what this relic looks like." He questioned, wanting to find it quickly and return back to Ozpin.

"Ah, it's embarrassing! Don't tell anyone that!" Rosa insisted, shaking her head. She did not want to be the laughing stock of the first years. She already got a bad rep for being a faunus, anything else would only throw her further under the bus! Of course, the gazelle faunus freaked out over the smallest of things. When Canary grabbed her wrist to move away from their location so a grimm would not find them, she simply nodded and quickly followed after the human.

"It's fine!" She responded when Canary released her wrist and apologized for dragging her along. "Yeah, it's a bit.. too quiet. I don't like it." She murmured, holding onto her butterfly knife. It was a very small weapon that can turn into a very large weapon. At first glance, the weapon looked useless and dumb, but it can be a strong weapon in the right hands. "I can't wait to see what you can do!" She added, giving a sheepish smile. She was very curious about Canary's weapon and her abilities.

after the hesitant moment of silence, rouge's insecurity rose. did he notice? he must have.. is he going to comment on my awkwardness? his mind asked silently, alight with various possibilities that all ended badly. but at last, his new partner replied. breathing out the sigh of relief that he had been unwittingly holding, rouge said, "me too. for the most part. technically, my yo-yo can be used as a ranged, but it's different than a gun, which is why i have the rifle as well." at mention of the relic, the hunter merely shrugged. he was in the dark as much as nuada was. "which direction do you think we should take, sterling?" asked the auburn-haired male, turning towards the silver-haired hunter. already, he had adapted the boy's last name as a nickname of sorts.

"woohoo!" the faunus called out, upon being ejected from the pad with swift fwoomp. enjoying his brief excursion in the air, casey soared through sky, feeling no unease despite the fact he was a wolf, and wolves belonged on the ground. sensing that he was nearing the first layer of keys, he extended the sharp, blunt nails that topped his fingers, using them for traction as he landed, before sliding down leaving clear clawmarks in his wake. humming happily to himself, the boy jumped off of the tree, and landed on the mossy ground. casey turned in a circle, his senses on fire in an attempt to spot a partner.

Ashton felt the wind rush through his hair as he was launched. he kept his eyes forward and his body tilted towards the front to give him less wind resistance causing him to go further out "I don't need a team, heh I can do this on my own!" He grinned as he came near the treeline and pulled the blade from it's sheathe. As he fell he began cutting away stray branches until he landed on a thick one to support his weight. after a few seconds he stood and smriked while sliding the blade back into it's sheathe "no prob--" crack.... He looked down just in time to see the branch break "oh craaaaaaaaa!" Then, he fell down to the ground hard and his katana rolled away from him, right into a Beowolf's foot. The beast held it down and growled at him "oh son of a..."

Maple continued through the forest at a swift speed, growing increasingly more and more surprised that he wasn't running into anyone or any Grimm. Was the Emerald Forest actually empty after all? Did he land somewhere way off from where the other students were? Just as he was about to change his direction he heard a girl talking. "What the..?" He mumbled to himself, slowing to a walk and silently creeping forward. It was a female student! Carefully, he watched as she spoke to what seemed to be a stuffed rabbit.

Seemingly unaware of the Grimm in front of Ivorine, he popped out of the bushes behind her. With a loud call of, "Hey, new partner!" He stomped toward her, a friendly grin on his face. "Looks like me, you, and... that rabbit are going to be teaming up now!" He continued eagerly, still not noticing the nearby enemy.

Tenne was rather displeased with the fact that her weapon was stuck in the tree a great height above her head. She wasn't too fond of the idea of climbing the tree to retrieve it, as she was no good with heights or climbing. Yet she also didn't want someone to stumble upon her and see her just uselessly standing around with no weapon in sight. Wouldn't that just be a way to make a first impression on her new partner?
With a resigned sigh, the mouse faunus decided climbing the tree was the lesser of two evils, so that's what she did. She braced herself on the lowest branch and climbed and climbed. The spear was about three fourths of the way up the tree, so it took quite a few minutes for her to actually reach it.

When she did, she yanked the spear out of the trunk and looked out into the forest below. Scanning the ground, Tenne's eyes quickly landed on boy down below. Her faunus senses were quick to tell her that this boy was another faunus, and relief flooded her. "H-Hey! Hey!" She called out, hoping to get his attention as she quickly shimmied down the trunk. "Excuse me!" Hopefully another faunus would be her partner!

Noir was just about to rise to his feet and shake off the disoriented feeling when someone else crashed into him, immediately knocking him off of his knees and face first into the dirt once more. "Mfff..." He grumbled, rolling onto his back and rubbing a dirty hand across his forehead; smearing more dirt onto it. "Don't worry," he replied to the worried voice, sitting up and offering the girl the smallest of smiles. "I'm fine."

He honestly had no clue what her name was, as he hadn't taken the time to learn anyone else's names, only the names of some of the teachers. "Ah, I almost forgot to ask... are you okay?" He asked, smile already gone, and another unreadable expression crossing his features. He wasn't at all annoyed or bothered by her crashing into him, as he knew the landings for everyone were going to be rough. He was just already feeling tired and overexerted and wanted to get back to the dorms to shower as soon as possible. "I'm Noir, by the way." He finished his side of the conversation quietly as he was finally able to get to his feet and brush the dirt off of himself and his clothes.

She stepped back, taking in the new partner before her. "I'm fine." She reassured, rubbing her arm, where some branches had cut her, but they were small. Nothing would scar or bleed much. She smiled and held out a hand. "Well, I'm Orchid. It's a pleasure to meet you, Noir. And I'm once again sorry for the crash. I didn't have much time to prepare.." She looked away, then looked back and smiled once more. "I guess that means we're partners!" She began walking past him, brushing some dirt off her armor. She felt bad about crashing into him, he seemed like a nice boy and now it might be awkward because of how they met. But in the future, it can just be a joke, right?

Miku scans the area around her through the scope of her sniper rifle. It was quiet, perhaps a little too quiet. Moving her face away from the scope, she adjusts her sunglasses, moving them to the top of her head to see better. And of course, it had to be when she let her guard down she hears some rustling through the trees. She quickly turns to the direction of the sound, only to hear a small thump pass the tree she was in. Turning to the sound, she slowly edges forward to see who or what it is. Once she got close enough to the edge, she looks through the scope of her sniper rifle again. She scans the area quietly, not making too much noise. And finally, she sees a figure.

Luckily for her, it wasn't a grimm. Instead, it was a boy with brown hair, standing there with a spear in his hand. Taking a closer look, she notices his tail. He was a faunus of some kind or at least that's how it appears. If she was younger, she might have been skeptical of him, but she was different now. Moving her face away from the scope, she moves her sunglasses back onto her face. She calls to him, "Hey! You okay there?" before leaping down from the huge tree. Landing with ease, she starts walking coolly towards the boy. Moving some of her red hair back, she held out a hand and says, "Looks like we're partners. I'm Miku, Miku Himura."

Ivorine smirks darkly as she begins taking out her daggers, but stops as she hears a voice calls out to her. She releases her grip on the two blades and puts her arms back around her bunny dolls. She quickly puts up a facade and turns around with a sweet smile on her face. Seemingly totally unfazed by the danger in front of her, she says with a sweet voice to Maple, "Well, Hello. I guess you going to be joining me and Mr. BunBun for the search." One of her hands reach back to grab one of her daggers as the rest of her body stay still.

She swiftly point the dagger towards the grimm, which now she realize is a common Ursa upon seeing it. "But before we continue, we have something to take care of first." she says, her voice laced with sugar. With that the Ursa let out a roar and Ivorine leaps out quickly. As she is in the air, she attaches Mr. BunBun to one of her ribbons on her dress and gets out her other dagger. She lands behind the creature, striking it in the back.

The forest was quiet, still, serene. It was almost too easy to forget that it was grimm infested. Besides the roaring of Ursa in the distance, there was no other sounds to be heard-

"Hey! You okay there?" The question rang out through the forest, scaring the absolute daylights out of Nye. He squeaked and jumped three feet in the air, and almost tripped over trying to turn and see where the voice came from. When he turned to face nothing, he was confused for a second. Until, that is, a red-headed girl fell from the sky into his vision. This time he didn't jump 3 feet in the air, he just jumped a little bit, a bounce at most.

"Looks like we're partners. I'm Miku, Miku Himura." With a breath outwards, he reached towards the girl's extended hand, grasping it with as much force as he could muster- which wasn't much after that scare.

"It seems like we are. I'm Nye Blevins." He gave her a small smile at her, shaking her hand lightly. It seemed that his journey was about to get infinitely easier, now that he had a partner- that at first glance, seemed competent.
