canada stopped for a moment to catch her breath, and gave a little cough. she looked up at the sky; the clouds had faded and the stars shined brighter than ever. she felt momentarily bad for ditching christoper, he might of just really, truly been trying to help her. she could probably still go back without him suspecting anything... she glanced behind her, searching for the warm glow of fire, but it was long gone. she sighed and rubbed her forehead, and took a step forward. a soft crunch sounded beneath her shoe. she tilted her head and lifted her foot. a dark lump was on the ground-she picked it up and held it in front of the moonlight. she gasped as she realized what it was-a decaying bird, complete with green patches of skin and crazed eyes and white foam at the beak. she gasped and flung it away, then rubbed her hands on her shirt. gross. she nervously looked at the ground again, and gasped. tiny white bones and pale skin and black flesh met her eyes. she gagged and grabbed the nearest tree branch, then pulled herself up quickly, deciding to travel through the branches instead.

watson glanced at the girl once more, realizing it was mel, the girl from his district. perfect. he narrowed his eyes. "why didn't you join our alliance, mel? you would have a much better chance of surviving." he was simply curious why this girl was so... stupid, he guessed. why run when you could join a group of the strongest tributes in the games?
