"I'm smart enough." Nathan said, he dropped out of school the day he was in the accident. He hoped Sel didn't read that story, but it was still going around when he got near the school.

"No, I believe you." Hailey said, she wrote down her answer. "What's the next one?" Hailey asked when she lifted her head up. Hailey wanted to get the biology over with, she thought this class was pretty gross.

Sel nodded. "That's cool." she murmured. She looked at him, a strange look on her face. "So you like taking walks in the woods yourself?" she asked quizzically, one eyebrow raised. 'Why WAS he in the woods by himself?' she wondered.

Kendall took a tiny peek. "Prophase." he answered softly. He glanced at her paper. "You have beautiful handwriting." he told her, his velvet voice soft. As she lifted her head up a wave of her smell came towards him. He winced. His throat was on fire now, his eyes dark. He put his fingers on his temples, trying to massage away the pain, his eyes pinched shut.

"Uhh.. Yeah." Nathan said, his voice still and emotionless trying to hide his true self. "Do you?" Nathan asked quickly after.

"Thanks.." Hailey looked him, he looked like he had a horrible headache. "You alright?" Hailey asked again, looking him in the eyes. "Did your eyes just change color?" Hailey felt as if she was playing twenty questions now. "Do you want me to take you to the nurse." Hailey put her arm around Kendall, he felt kind of cold. "And your freezing!" She gasped.

Sel smiled. "ALL the time... I don't really like being at home." she said softly, looking at the ground. She sat on a log by the trail and put her head in her hands, biting her lip.

Kendall pulled away, trying to stay calm. "I think." he said quietly. "Just a headache and a sore throat... probably getting sick." he smiled slightly. Like he could get sick! He looked down at her and wrapped his arms around himself and pretended to shiver like he was actually cold. He sighed as she wrapped his arm around them. Although his throat burned, the warmth on his icy skin felt amazing.

Nathan didn't say much, he just nodded. "We better go then." Nathan said, he started to walk off but kept his eye on Sel, the smell from here didn't leave him and it was so intoxicating to him.

"Come on, we'll finish the work first then we'll go to the nurse." Hailey said, she looked into the microscope and hurried down her answers. "Here copy them down." Hailey said in a whisper and handed him her paper.

Sel slowly stood up and walked after him. "Are we almost there?" she asked. Her turtleneck sweater and sweat pants were starting to get hot. She sighed, her face blank and pale now.

Kendall wrote them all down without looking. He winced again as he took a breath. The longer he stayed next to her the harder it got for him to keep control... 'This isn't what's supposed to happen' he thought to himself. "Hey do you think we could just go home?" he asked, his eyes wild. "I really... need a breath of fresh air." he breathed, his face screwed up with pain. "I don't like the nurse fussing over me either..." he smiled. "I only let very pretty girls baby me." he smiled at her, hoping she understood.

"Almost." Nathan said, he wasn't used to walking when he could just run to the beach. "You can see it almost.." Nathan looked North and he didn't appear to squint his eyes to see the horizon.

"I understand." Hailey said, she grabbed Kendall's and her papers and turned them in and asked to go to the nurse. The teacher nodded and she went back to sit by Kendall. "I'll walk you around the school if you want.. Pretend were lost." Hailey asked.

Sel grinned for a second. "Want to go run in the water?" she asked. Answering her own question, she sprinted towards the beach. It was the first time her limp started acting up. She kept running though, trying to beat him to the water.

Kendall stuck his tongue out. "I can drive you to my house if you like. Better for talking since no one's home right now." he smiled. His throat tightened and he swallowed. "I just want to sit on the couch and be lazy." he murmured. He wanted to get her alone so they could talk.

"Not really.." Nathan said, he hated the water, he never liked it at all. Nathan watched as Sel ran to the beach but he didn't bother running after her. Nathan sighed as she was putting up a race, he ran and in a few seconds he reached the shoreline like you couldn't see him run at all.

"If thats what you want.." Hailey said, she grabbed her back pack and headed for the door. Hailey didn't bother to look back at her friends in the classroom, she just went ahead and pushed right on threw. The teachers voice could be heard threw the door when it slammed shut on its own.

Sel stopped short. "Wow you run fast." she smiled. "I like it." she looked up at him through her eyelashes. "Well... what do you want to do then? Just sit and talk?" she asked, trying to figure out what he wanted.

Kendall followed her, keeping stride with her easily. "Would you like me to carry your bag?" he asked, trying to be a gentleman. His dark eyes shone as he shot her a quick smile. "It's no trouble..." he added.
