"Nearly noon. I could teach you to tell time," Ceme said. "See how there's a little hand and a big hand? The little hand tells you the hour. See how it's on eleven? That means it's eleven o'clock. And then the big hand is on the nine. This a little more complicated. That means that it's eleven fourty five. You count by fives. So if the big hand was on the one it would be eleven o five, on the two eleven ten, get it?"

Riya frowned "I think so." But she wasn't sure, she'd have to be shown properly.

[FoodIsYummy]

"Good," Ceme said with a slight smile. He hoped he could help Riya learn.

[Crabbiey]

Riya stared at the clock, trying to remember what Ceme had taught her. She seemed to sort of remember it, then she looked at Ceme "So when is lunch?"

"Noon. So we have about ten minutes," Ceme said.

[Crabbiey]

"Ok." Riya murmered, ten minutes, what could she do with that? It wasn't enough time to do anything, sighing she sat on the bottom step and stared at the floor, her head in one hand. She was bored, she hated waiting when there was nothing to do. Her shirt was even more wet now, but still she didn't say anything, she'd like all other Slaves been told not to complain or to talk about how they felt without being asked first. Or they got punished.

Ceme watched her. He wished he had something comforting to say, but when you're a slave there's probably not much that can comfort you.

Riya glanced up at Ceme before looking back down, she hated being watched, no matter who it was. She pulled her damp hair round to her front and started to play with it. When she did, it revealed that the back of her shirt was wet, hardly any of the back was dry.

"Riya," Ceme loved her name. It was so beautiful. Just saying it made him happy. "Your shirt's all wet. Didn't you change?" He asked.

Riya looked up "Yes."
