Personality: Hazel is naturally quiet and shy, much preferring to keep to herself. She is very book smart, but lacks good street smarts because of her sheltered life. She is introverted and tries not to draw attention to herself. Because of this, it is often difficult for her to make friends, but once she gets to know someone and trusts them, there isn't anyone that could be a better friend than Hazel. She would do anything for her friends, but her one major flaw is that she doesn't believe that her friends could ever betray her trust. Although nobody has yet, it is only a matter of time until one of her friends turns on her, as is the nature of high school girls.
Hazel appears straight to everyone, although she is too shy to let guys know that she likes them. But she does tell her friends who she has crushes on. What she doesn't tell them, however, is something that she herself won't even accept. She has recently begun to feel differently about certain girls than she used to. Although she doesn't want to admit it even to herself, she is afraid that she is being attracted to girls, as well as boys. To defend herself, she keeps telling herself that she is probably just bi-curios, not actually bisexual. Deep in her heart, however, she feels like that is not the truth. Even so, she is convinced that is is just a phase and she will be able to get over it, so she hides her feelings for girls, hoping nobody will notice. It would take someone special to come along for her to openly express that hidden truth.

Personality: Thane is considered one of the 'popular' kids in school and acts accordingly. He acts cool and indifferent about a lot of things, except for girls. Thane, like most guys in high school, can't resist a cute girl and is is rare if a day goes by without him trying to impress one of them or flirting. He hangs out with other popular kids as well, mostly jocks. His charming smile makes it hard for the girls to resist him, and his 'too-cool' attitude gets him most of his guy friends. Despite his seemingly uncaring personality, Thane is quite romantic, always trying to impress the ones he likes. He is very sweet and kind to them, although he puts up a tough front for his friends.
Thane has known that he is bisexual since almost the beginning of high school and he has accepted this fact. However, he knows that the people that he hangs out with would shun him if they knew this, so he hides it from everyone. He only shows affection toward girls, keeping his feelings for other guys to himself when he is around anyone he knows. Although he is equally attracted to boys and girls, he has never dated a guy for fear that someone would find out and tell all of his friends. Even so, he has decided that if another guy makes a move on him first, then he wouldn't hesitate to tell them how he felt; he just won't initiate a relationship on his own.

Personality: Alex is a bit of a tomboy and she is definitely not shy. She has close friends of both genders and her outgoing nature helps her to make friends with almost anyone, although sadly, her openness about being a lesbian often deters many people from wanting to be her friend. Although she isn't the smartest kid in school, Alex has a lot of common sense, which is good because she knows what is appropriate to say or do at certain times, and what isn't. She has a fiery personality and can get worked up quite quickly about certain issues, but for the most part, she is easy to get along with. She also doesn't hesitate to speak her mind or offer her opinion when she feels that it could be useful.
Alex has known that she was different than most girls for as long as she could remember. While her friends spoke about cute guys, she would always wonder why they made such a big deal when she didn't think that they were actually that attractive at all. For awhile, she had no idea why she didn't feel the same way about guys that other girls seemed to, but then she began to figure it all out. They way they felt about cute guys, she began to feel for cute girls, she realized. As soon as she learned the word 'lesbian' and what it meant, she knew instantly that she was a lesbian. For awhile though, she hid her sexuality, but after some time, she began to find it difficult to keep her emotions for girls secret as she felt more and more attracted to them and decided that she could no longer keep it a secret. Since then, she has been very open about her sexual preference and isn't afraid to tell other girls if she likes them, especially if she thinks they may be bisexual or lesbian.
