The young boy walked into the giant chamber of a hall, craning his neck to look at the ceiling from as many angles as he could. He'd never been in something like this before. There were 4 tables- Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. Another one for the teachers. It wasn't like his normal, "muggle" school. He didn't know if he could sit anywhere yet, as he hadn't been sorted. So, he just stood there, awkwardly staring at his feet.
(*OOC: sort him into whatever house you think would suit him the best, i don't really care (and i'm only on the fifth book in the series so i apologise if i make any sorts of factual errors.))

It had been quiet a surprise when Zoe and her parents had found out that she was not in fact a muggle but a witch.They didn't believe it at first but her parents were somehow talked into letting her come here to Hogwarts and she was happy that they did.When she went on her shopping trip to Diagon Alley where she had bought her wand and spell books and don't forget her trusty owl Twilight.After that was the train ride,she had sat with a girl called Liz form hufflepuff but she probably wouldn't see her much,her favourite part of the train ride had to be tasting the new treats and her favourite was the beans even though some of them were horrible she still enjoyed them.Now,she was here at Hogwarts and she was amazed by the floating candles in the main hall,it was like a dream but it wasn't,this was real life.Zoe's eyes were drawn to Professor Mcgongall who was speaking to the hall full of children but Zoe wasn't really listening,she was too busy taking in her surroundings.She was then startled when the sorting hat started to sing a song but it brought a smile to her face as it sang,she was nervous to be sorted but maybe it would be okay? She would have to wait and find out!

He noticed a girl who seemed slightly older than him sitting at the Gryffindor table. Thinking that nobody else there seemed like they were okay with a complete stranger coming up to them and striking up a conversation, he decided to try with this person. He shuffled over to the table, not taking a seat as he was unsorted and didn't want to seem like he was, for some strange reason.

Zoe waited to be sorted and was shortly called up.She sat down and the hat was placed on top of her head,she waited nervously before it announced she was to be placed in Gryffindor,Zoe had hoped she would be put in this house.She excitedly went and sat at her place on the table and was greeted by many happy faces who congratulated her and gave her a warm welcome.She was the first to be sorted into Gryffindor who was a first year so she didn't have anyone to talk to and just watched the other sortings.After a couple of minuets a boy ,who seemed to be a first year too, shyly came over and spoke to her,she smiled "Hi,my name is Zoe!What's your name?" she said in a friendly,happy tone that she used allot,mainly when she met people for the first time and wanted them to get comfortable with her.She noticed that the boy hadn't sat down so she guessed he hadn't been sorted yet but even if he wasn't put in Gryffindor they could hopefully still be friends.

aileen gazed around as the first years were shepherded into the great hall, which was, truly great. floating candles danced around as food began to pop up on the tables: roast turkey, mashed potatoes, anything and everything, really. there would be a great feast after, the girl noted, hazel eyes lighting up excitedly. Glancing around, the eleven year old chewed on her lip thoughtfully. So many new faces... And not all looked friendly. She hoped that she would be sorted into Gryffindor... The lot over at the red and gold table seemed pretty welcoming, unlike the Slytherins, with their sly smiles that seemed to be hiding something. but what ever house she'd be sorted into, she'd be happy. after all, the young witch had been waiting her whole life for this literally magical moment. as the tattered old school hat opened it's tattered brim and began to sing in a lovely voice, aileen leaned closer to catch the words of the song over the roar of the older students. gryffindor, the chivalrous and brave... yes, she'd certainly like to be sorted into that house. in fact, the excited girl had leaned forward so much that she'd almost toppled two first years in front of her. "Oh! Um... Sorry, er... What are your names, anyways?" She apologized, then questioned sheepishly, scratching the back of her neck embarassedly.

The observant pre teen gazed in wonder at the decor of the ancient castle. The high ceilings reflected the night sky as chandeliers glowed brightly. Dishes popped out, one by one on the huge polished tables. It truly was a work of architecture, Alden thought to himself in amazement as he tried to suck in every detail with his eyes. All banners from the four houses looked splendid to him- but the blue and gold raven stood out to Alden the most. The beautiful tapestry from the house of knowledge called the pre teen the most out of the four. The people in that House didn't seem so bad either- they surveyed the first years with knowing and analytical eyes- as if they knew who'd join them already. That quiet knowledge in those knowing eyes calmed the nervous first year down slightly. But his thoughts were soon silenced by the quirky song from the tattered old Sorting Hat. The tattered brim widened and formed a slightly unnerving smile as it began to sing. "Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw, if you've a steady mind, where those of wit and learning, will always find their kind." At that point, the young boy could have sworn that the hat winked briefly at him. Gesturing towards the nearest person towards him, a young lass by the name of Sarah Watt, he pointed at the sorting hat and grinned. "Ravenclaw sounds fantastic, doesn't it?"

Swifteekl was calm. That was the only thing one could describe her as, really - calm. She wasn't nervous or excited about being sorted, nor was she particularly not looking forward to it. She simply kept her cool with eyes, dark blue eyes staring up towards the front of the hall expectantly. She also kept tabs on everyone else in the hall absently, hands clasped in front of her as she rolled up onto the ball of her toes. She took a moment to simply admire the elegance of the Great Hall - she'd heard about it, but seeing it in person was far different. Her long robes draped off her, as she waited for the sorting to begin. The girl noted a few people off to her side, but focused instead on the Headmistress and sorting hat. She glanced over as she heard a young boy speak about RavenClaw, but quickly noting he wasn't speaking to her, she looked forward again, taking a deep breath. She just had to breathe, and keep calm. No one knew who she was, who her parents were, but nevertheless, she felt like the odd one out. Different from them, but not necessarily in a bad way. She just didn't like sticking out in a crowd, unless that was her goal. Eyes fixated on the sorting hat, she wondered who would be called first.

In the line where most of the other First Years had been organized, a young boy, around the average height for a first year, gazed around the hallways with bright, yet surprisingly calm eyes for a boy his age, although the interest and anticipation was sparking behind the amber-golden depths. His right hand twirled his Blackthorn wand between slightly calloused fingertips, and the gesture seemed to be more of a nervous habit than an active game, as his eyes continued to gaze over Hogwarts interior, even as his wand moved skillfully around his knuckles. Once the Hat began speaking, Hadrian's eyes immediately moved to the animation's spectacle, and his intrigue slightly grew. Although his father had already told him about the unneeded glory and shock of Hogwart's introduction, he was still interested in how this came to be. Everything was just...okay, he needed to stop, and think.

The messy-haired boy sighed and focused on the hat, as it began to sort. He had no preference, honestly.

james stumbled, someone bumping into him from behind. "oh! i'm james, james lockhart." he answered, casting a look at the female that spoke. james glanced at his twin, who seemed to be daydreaming and not paying attention. he quickly elbowed her in the side, but it took a few seconds before she had responded. james ran a hand through the front of his hair, shaping it into a quiff-like style. he glanced at his sister, who seemed to have not heard what the girl had said. james licked the front of his top teeth, waiting for either his sister or the girl to introduce themselves. he turned to look at the hat as it faltered, and the headmistress called the first name, then the next, then the next.

"huh?" andi questioned as james turned. james whispered 'your name.' with a jerk of the head towards the girl that had stumbled into them. "my name? oh, it's andi." she said with a cheeky smile. andromeda glanced at the hat as it started to call out house names. rowley angle, rosey alice, tim bennett, and many others. she listened as the hat shouted out hufflepuff, gryffyndor, ravenclaw, and slytherin. andi hoped to be either slytherin or gryffyndor. she looked back at the girl and slipped her a question; "what house do you want to be in?" andromeda tightened the ponytail that she had her hair in, wincing when it tugged on a strand of her hair. she flattened the top of her hair with her hand as she waited for the girl's answer.

Swifteekl shifted, sitting still becoming more of a chore as people settled down to wait for the sorting. The inactivity and silence made her fidget, wishing she had Maka there with her. But no, Maka was back in her room for the moment, so he didn't disturb anything by being too noisy, or... rather not fond of so many people crowded around him. She didn't think bringing a dragon snake to the sorting ceremony would be fully appropriate. Her gaze was attracted by a young boy, looking around her age, if slightly younger, standing in front of her. Her attention was momentarily captured by the intricate twirling of his wand, before she turned her eyes back to the front, but acknowledged him verbally, he being the first one in the whole hall she had spoken to. "Hello there." She spoke softly, deep eyes flitting back and forth between the boy and the stool, wondering if he would answer her back or not. Her eyes brightened as the first name was called - good, things were moving along. She watched the other students go up, head tilting like a puppy as she watched, intrigued.

The girl jumped slightly as a boy behind her addressed her, snapping Sarah out of her daze. She had been listening intently to the words being spoken, practically oblivious to the world around her, so it took her a bit to gather her bearings. "It does, doesn't it?" She wispered back, giving him a friendly smile, "Although I don't think I would be smart enough to be in that house, after reading Hogwarts; a history" She continued. Then again, she thought, your not brave, ambitious, or kind like the other houses she thought to herself. Maybe you don't fit in anywhere? She wondered, causing her nerves to flare up again. "Oh don't be so stupid Sarah" She muttered to herself, "I'm sure you'll fit in somewhere" She finished, before realising she had spoken aloud and added a quick "Sorry - just nervous" To the boy. Probably thinks I'm a nutcase she thought, before returning her eyes to the front.
